Marks Jewelers Now Accepting Bitcoin Cash for Payments

U.S. jewelry retailer Marks Jewelers has started accepting payments in cryptocurrency, including bitcoin cash. Shoppers can now pay for luxury goods such as fine diamonds, watches and engagement rings using BCH and seven other digital currencies.

Retailer to Cut Costs with Low BCH Transaction Fees

In addition to BCH, the company is now accepting payments in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether. “This will allow us to make our fine jewelry available to the global market while paying lower fees and avoiding chargebacks,” Joshua Rubin, director of marketing at Marks Jewelers, said in an online statement.

Marks Jewelers is already one of the biggest jewelry retailers in the U.S. market. But Rubin said that the new payment methods, established in partnership with e-commerce platform Shopping Cart Elite, will help to expand access to its jewelry range for buyers throughout the world. The Pennsylvania-based company, which has sold diamonds and jewelry for 35 years, said that the removal of currency conversion charges will help it cut costs. It wants to pass those savings over to jewelry shoppers in the form of lower retail prices.

Cheaper Than Credit Cards

Marks Jewelers joins a growing list of jewelry retailers, including Samer Halimeh New York and Reeds, that are starting to accept payments in cryptocurrencies such as BCH. Bitcoin cash offers fast, reliable and inexpensive transactions compared with traditional means of sending money. For example, credit and debit card providers generally charge fees that are as much as 3.5 percent of every transaction. That compares with transaction fees of around $1 or less for cryptocurrency-based purchases, regardless of the amount of each transaction.

According to Coinline, which provides a directory of merchants that accept payments in bitcoin cash, more than 210 retailers throughout the world now handle transactions in the cryptocurrency. Australia is home to the greatest concentration of merchants that welcome BCH as a form of payment, with about 80 locations in total accepting it.

Centbee of South Africa has announced the launch of its bitcoin cash wallet app in beta, as adoption continues to grow in Africa and elsewhere around the world. Some shops in Kenya already accept bitcoin cash for purchases.

Centbee Wallet App Allows Users to Send Bitcoin Cash to Friends via Mobile

South African cryptocurrency firm Centbee has released the beta version of its bitcoin cash wallet, allowing users to send BCH to one another via cellphone. The app, which allows people to receive, hold, and spend BCH, has been in alpha testing for the past few months, with users trying out its performance through test coins. Users have asserted that “its most useful feature is the ability to send bitcoin cash to friends by selecting from their phone’s contacts list,” according to reports.

Centbee co-chief executive officer Angus Brown said he was “extremely confident of the final product” after the company included comments from customers in the beta version. “Cryptocurrency as a form of payment costs a fraction of what users would pay using their bank accounts, especially for cross-border payments. This is the future of money,” he was quoted as saying.

Africa Sees Steady Growth in BCH Adoption

Bitcoin cash offers reliable, fast and inexpensive cryptocurrency transactions when compared to traditional means of sending money. In Africa, the cryptocurrency, which split from bitcoin core just over a year ago, has seen steady growth as a payment means for goods and services. According to the Coinline bitcoin cash directory of merchants, BCH as a payment method is currently established in two countries on the continent, Kenya and South Africa, though it continues to flourish elsewhere in the world.

In South Africa, the latest launch proves the growing acceptance and adoption of cryptocurrency, regardless of regulatory concerns and falling virtual currency prices. South Africa, which recently gained its first multi-currency crypto ATM, has this year consistently ranked highest worldwide in search interest for “bitcoin”, according to data from Google Trends.

Boxlight Electronics, a Kenyan company that distributes a range of electrical gadgets including television sets and home theaters, now accepts payment in bitcoin core and bitcoin cash. Robinson Murage, chief executive officer of Boxlight Electronics, has said previously: “We have received tons of requests from our customers to pay using digital currencies. As a company whose 90% of customers are young, tech savvy and predominantly online we choose to be all inclusive and adapt to the needs of those that prefer this type of currency.”

At Centbee in South Africa, co-chief executive Lorien Gamaroff explained: “Our key focus in designing the app was to make sending bitcoin cash to friends as simple as possible. In just a few taps, users can send bitcoin cash to anyone, anywhere at the lowest possible cost. Bitcoin cash will be adopted globally as the best way to pay, especially in Africa and other developing markets.”

Online Automotive Parts Retailer Newparts Now Accepts Bitcoin Cash

Online automotive parts store, Newparts, said on Monday that it will start accepting payment in seven cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin core (BTC) and bitcoin cash (BCH). The U.S. dealer, which has a catalog of over one million parts, says cryptocurrency will enable it to expand its international reach.

Buyers Can Now Use Bitcoin Cash to Pay for Auto Spares at Newparts

Newparts CEO Dano Ramovich said the new payment method, established in partnership with e-commerce platform Shopping Cart Elite, will help improve access to the company’s auto parts to as many potential buyers as possible, fast.

“We decided to allow our customers to pay with cryptocurrency – it opens up our business to international markets and enables us to accept and process transactions more quickly and affordably,” Ramovich said, in an online statement.

Newparts joins a growing list of car dealers and other merchants looking to cryptocurrency for payments, particularly BCH. Bitcoin cash offers reliable, fast and inexpensive cryptocurrency transactions when compared to traditional means of sending money. Cars.com, Carbidnow, 6speedonline.com, and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford have all started to take payment in BTC and BCH, as adoption continues to expand.

Newparts hopes to leverage similar characteristics, including the elimination of currency conversion fees and charge-backs, “to pass on even more savings to customers,” it said.

“By paying with cryptocurrency, customers around the world now have unprecedented access to Newparts’ wide array of auto parts with lightning-fast transactions that take just minutes to process,” said Ramovich.

According to the Coinline bitcoin cash directory of merchants, BCH as a payment method is currently accepted at more than 210 points throughout the world. The greatest concentration of merchants accepting bitcoin cash is Australia, with about 80 points taking payment in BCH.

Last week, British brewer Brewdog, said it will allow beer lovers to pay in bitcoin cash and bitcoin when it opens its Canary Wharf outlet on Oct.19.  In Africa, some shops in South Africa and Kenya also take BCH.
