okay I've been thinking about this one and I wanna make it less that you're mad at her and more like you're just acting kinda uncomfortable and weird. like you know, realistically, that abby would never do whatever she did in your dream, but now the image is there and you can't shake it. it's up to you to decide what she did in your dream.

so all day you're not mad, you're just kinda shaken? like you're not as affectionate as you usually are, a little stiff, a little less talkative. and not because you're mad at her, but because you're kinda wigged out :(

and of fucking course abby notices. she notices when you sit on the opposite side of the couch, when you eat breakfast on your own, when you decide to read instead of watch trashy reality tv with her. and she's so sad, but she assumes you just need a little bit of space because sometimes this happens. it's not like you're ignoring her, you're just taking a little bit of space.

at some point she gets so :( about it, she literally goes over to where you're sitting and crouches next to you, resting one warm hand on your knee.

"Hey, baby, are you okay? You've been kinda distant all day," She murmurs, rubbing circles on your thigh with her thumb. You look at her and she just looks so sad, you snap out of your little funk.

"Oh honey, I'm really sorry. I had kinda a weird dream last night," You mumble, taking her little hum as a sign to keep going. "You did something, in the dream, that made me uncomfortable and, I don't know, it's been bugging me all day. I know you would never do that, but I just can't push it out of my head."

Abby pouts, pressing a kiss to your knee before resting her chin there. "You could've told me, ya know? Whatever it was, I'm sure I would never do it in real life. And on behalf of dream-me, I'm sorry."

You huff out a little laugh, and by god it makes Abby light up. All day, she's been wanting to see her girl smile and she finally got it.

"Dream-you is forgiven, and I'm sorry that I've been so weird all day," You hum, leaning forward to kiss Abby's nose bridge.

"Mmm apology accepted, but for future reference please do not let the dreams dictate whether or not I get cuddles from you. I'm withering away here."

okay we're putting this in the college basketball abby x chubby reader universe because I have Thoughts, although the chubby/plus size aspect isn't really mentioned here. also since this is the first time I've written for college basketball abby in a while, just a reminder to anyone new here that my college basketball abby is inspired by @elsweetheart, who pretty much kicked off the whole college basketball au!

Like, is Abby incredibly agile on the court? Yes. Is she hyper aware of how she takes us space on and off the court? Also yes. Does all of that awareness fly out the window when you're in her general vicinity? Absolutely.

She just can't help it! It's like your presence has rewired her brain to forget any and all conventions of personal space, all she knows is she has to be close to you. With anyone else she's incredibly aware of her surroundings, because she knows she's a big girl and if she's not careful with her strength she could hurt someone! And sometimes she slips up, hence the multiple times she's knocked over stacks of books in your apartment, or every time she accidentally slams her hip into the kitchen island, or when she accidentally shoulder checks someone on campus and then inadvertently starts beef </3 But with you? Any and all concerns fly out the window, because she also knows she'll never intentionally hurt you.

I've talked about this a bit before, but when y'all are cooking dinner she is Glued to you. As long as it's safe to do so, Abby is clinging to your back like a koala. If she could wrap herself around you and have you carry her around the apartment, she would. When you're cleaning, if you don't let her cling to you, she's hovering like two feet away from you.

Side note, when this happens, she's too focused on you to have any sort of awareness about her surroundings. Cue her slamming into corners, bumping shit off surfaces, and once even stepping on the tip of Haley's tail. If you're wondering, this last one did result in Abby sitting crosslegged on the floor crying and snuggling Haley, giving her treats and pets and apologizing for like an hour. You sat next to her, rubbing her back and holding Soot, trying not to giggle because Haley wasn't even upset. The sweet little pittie was just happy to be with her mom, wiggling her tail and leaving kisses all over Abby's face, which made her cry even harder.

Anyways! With all her girlfriend-induced clumsiness, she's producing more mess than you started with, so you take her by the shoulders and tell her to go sit down on the couch. She listens, because she is never gonna argue with something her girlfriend says like, whatever you say, gorgeous <3 But then you have her sitting on the couch like a pouty baby, watching you with those big puppy eyes as you flit around the room. You're literally in the same room as her, you're talking to her, and yet she's like my wife is off at war :(

By the time you're done tidying up living room she's shimmied to the part of the couch that's closest to you, sprawled over the arm of the couch to reach out for you.

"I miss you :[ I'm wasting away here."

"Abby it's been fifteen minutes and I was right here the whole time," You giggle, rolling your eyes even as you're climbing on the couch and being sucked into her arms. The second you're settled into her lap, she's all smiles, grinning like a fool and pressing kisses all over your face. Doesn't let you go for the rest of the night.

Oh my god also. Abby is 100% the type of gf to go to the bathroom with you. Doesn't matter what time of night it is, if you get up to go to the bathroom, even if you try your hardest to not wake her up, you best believe she is hot on your tail. And vice versa, whenever she wakes up at 3am needing to pee, she wakes you up and pulls you to the bathroom, holding your hand while you're both bleary eyed and sleepy.

I've also mentioned that I think Abby runs hot, body temperature wise, which makes cuddling in the summer hell. The summer before your last year of college, the city experience a terrible heatwave that busted the AC in the building. Did Abby give you any space at all when it came to sleeping at night? Absolutely not, baby was soaked in sweat but still clinging on to you. Nothing would stop her, not even when you moved to sleep on the couch to get some reprieve from the heat. You woke up the next morning with Abby wrapped around you, wearing nothing but sweaty boxers and sleeping like a baby.

Abby would be so concerned the first time you brought home a stray cat. It was pouring rain and you found this soaked through lil void of a cat huddling next to your building, so obviously you had to take her in! you get her inside, after coaxing her into your jacket, and ur sitting in the bathroom, holding her in a clean dry towel after having already dried her off to the best of your ability, when Abby comes home. Reader has a good relationship with Lev, but since we’re kind of on a Jerry train right now, what would Jerry’s relationship be like with Abby’s partner?

I've actually thought about the reader and jerry's relationship quite a bit, just because Jerry is a huge part of Abby's life (obviously) and there is no way she would ever be able to have a relationship where her partner and her dad weren't at least friends or coexistent to some extent. When you two first got together, she was both completely sure it was gonna go great between you and her dad, and fucking terrified that something would go wrong.

the first time you and jerry meet it's at dinner, I wrote about it here. abby literally had no reason to worry at all, because it went so well!! jerry loves how much you care about abby and just how genuinely good you are, and you love how much jerry cares about his daughter and her happiness, and he's genuinely just a kind man. after that, you and jerry are just good friends!!

he'll drop by the apartment every now and then with food because he "accidentally" cooked too much for lev, yara, and himself. usually, abby is out at practice or class or something else, on her very organized schedule that jerry Knows, so you two just hang out until she arrives.

it always ends up with the two of you hanging out in the reading nook with coffee or tea or other drinks, talking for hours and hours. he'll tell you about work, weird happenings in urgent care, etc. etc. you tell him about class, whatever weird stuff has happened with abby or haley or soot. abby comes back to see two of her favorite people just laughing like maniacs on the armchairs.

omg also! haley loves jerry. the lil pitta adores him!! whenever you can abby mention "grandpa" she's Ecstatic, wiggling and looking like a croissant, grumbling and running for her collar. soot is ambivalent, but you have, on occasion, caught her napping on the couch with him whenever you take them to the Anderson Family Home.

You and Jerry get along well!! And abby loves it, so much. it makes her all warm and fuzzy, knowing the love of her life and her dad get along so well. can you just imagine trips with the both of them? going to an aquarium with them and then just getting bombarded with facts from three Andersons? bc I firmly believe Lev also loves animal facts, even marine animals despite his fear of the ocean. you and yara are just standing there like. help. please.

I would love to write more about this but I think I've gotta keep my posts short for now, until I can get into a rhythm again <3

I kind of mentioned this in the ask I just sent about Jerry and reader, but I’m still so obsessed with the apartment sketch you did for basketball Abby. Not a lot of people take the time to detail the central living space for their fics and the fact that you really thought about it and described such a homey, lived in, beautiful space is just so special. Like you made me want to live there so bad 🤭 Now, not only I do I love your writing and the fact that it isn’t just catered towards white, straight sized readers, but I love your attention to detail. I know the apartment post is a few months old at this point, so I hope it isn’t too late to gush about. And it’s kind of a hyper specific thing to compliment you on, but I really love it ❤️ so thank you for taking the time to make that!

this is so sweet oh my god!! I'm so glad you appreciate it, I loved making it :( the funny thing about the apartment is that a lot of it is modeled after things I want in my dream apartment! that's why I write about the reading nook so often <3

attention to detail is something I try to take pride in!! I feel like it makes the whole story way more cozy? idk, I like knowing lil details about peoples lives, so it just kinda trickles into my writing?
