One of the most beautiful looking keys of my life. Why? Because it took me to an amazing cabin space. 🤩 •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 📍Royal Gorge Cabins •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #royalgorge #roomkey #hotel #cabin #royalgorgecabins #colorado #visitcolorado #travelcolorado #staycolorado #coloradocabin #coloradohotel #pikespeakwonders #sonya6000 #hotelbed #homey #mycanoncity #Cabins #cabinlove #coloradoblog #coloradoblogger (at Royal Gorge Cabins) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByD4LSTFlPL/?igshid=1p9zvlbo3cgsw

The Logos of Hosteling (Cont.)
Hostel Pricing and Accommodations
The affordability of hostels, along with the uniqueness of each individual hostel, are the two main factors that keep me interested in using them while traveling. Hotel rooms tend to be exorbitantly priced, and in my opinion, rather cookie-cutter, with a familiar-yet-homogenous niceness. The color scheme and layouts vary, but they always seem pretty similar…an Ikea type of situation. (Nothing against Ikea.) Alternatively, the very nature of hostels endows the owner with the freedom to construct their own unique ascetic, and put as many of their own twists on the place as they’d like. Of course, some hostels are simple budget hostels with nothing too special going on; however, I have stayed in many that are definitely without replication. For example, one particular hostel in Fairbanks, Alaska exhibits an impressively-ornate treehouse, handmade as a hobby with reclaimed materials, and an authentic, tanned-hide teepee. The setting is undeniably beautiful and cozy, and while it has private cabins available, the cheapest option is $9/night; In San Diego, California the USA Hostel snatches your attention, seeing as the entire building is covered in an intricate, colorful mural, with a sizeable peace sign adorning the roof. With a relaxing courtyard, yoga studio, plenty of acoustic guitars to pass around-and being a 4 minute walk to the beach- $35 is a steal; the Tent hostel, in Munich, Germany has implemented the resourceful idea of using gigantic canvas tents as bunk houses, and also has a bar that is surrounded by multicolor hammocks. Prices range from about $12-$20.
Here at Hostel Fish, we have elected to keep the historic nature of the building alive, mainly by accentuating the exposed red brick, and sections of cement walls that are tattooed with layers of decades-old wall paper. Lattice, reclaimed from the interior of the building, was used for many different renovation projects; including our bar-backing, a light-up piece of art in the lounge, and several handmade chandeliers. Each of our rooms was designed by local artists, and each has its own character and specific theme. The “Doxie Doves” room, for instance, tips its proverbial hat to the promiscuous, red-light history of the building, whereas the Aspen room gets everyone excited for ski season in the Rockies.
Hostels vary greatly from one to the next, and many are uniquely designed to reflect the local culture. Furthermore, they tend to offer many different options concerning sleeping accommodations. Dormitory style rooms are most common, and typically range from 4 person to 12 person, with private rooms and tent spaces being common options, as well. While the prices vary depending on the amount of people sharing a room, one thing is certain: hostels will always be the cheaper lodging option for a traveler.
