Cometocino patagonico posado en un arbor de maqui. Hembra o juvenil. 𝑷𝒉𝒓𝒚𝒈𝒊𝒍𝒖𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒔 . De esta ave conocía sólo al macho por lo tanto me costó un poco identificarlo. Aves  🦅

Las particulares características de la montaña, como sus quebradas o cursos de agua o sus tan famosos humedales dan espacio y las condiciones propicias para la recepción de un sin número de aves. 

Muchas de estas son propias del ecosistema alto andino, así como también hay otras que se han ido adaptando a este o incluso, se han podido observar especies de aves migratorias provenientes de EEUU. 

Algunas de las aves que podemos llegar a observar en el Parque Andino Juncal son: El Picaflor Cordillerano, Perico Cordillerano, Chorlito Cordillerano, Cometocino, Jilguero, y algunas rapaces tales como el Cernícalo, Águila chilena, Carancho y Cóndor.

Tierra Shares Artist’s Impressions of Patagonia

Tierra Patagonia captures hearts. Be it the hearts of travelers who comb the globe to relax, spend time here. Or be it working artists – like renowned Chilean photographer Pia Vergara who, this week, shares her love of Patagonia via Tierra Hotel’s social media platforms, #Tierraphotoadventures.

Following, just a sampling of Pia’s stunning imagery and impressions of Patagonia…

The Guanaco: “Life during springtime for a guanaco is very active, the males are preoccupied for the females, constantly fighting and running to take care of them. Here, during a fight, they noticed our presence and stopped for a moment to stare back at us.”

The Cometocino: “Often in Patagonia if you look up, you´ll see a cometocino, like the one pictured here. They are usually in trees above you – looking for something to eat. These birds are not shy and seem to enjoy having their photo taken.”

Flamencos: “The Chilean flamencos in Laguna Amarga (or Bitter Lagoon) are a showstopper: their color, size, form and elegance make them particularly photogenic. They are timid creatures, and for that reason, we are cautious when approaching them, always maintaining a prudent distance. As visitors, we have to respect the wildlife; we are simply spectators and should not interfere directly in their lives.”

Lupinos: “In springtime, Blue Lagoon is full of lupinos (or chochos, which is what the locals call them.) These flowers make an already impressive landscape more colorful and part of the adventure is to take time to enjoy these moments, letting nature amaze us.”
