March Featured Follower Post!

Congratulations to this month's featured follower, @crumchylettuce ! She's been leaving lots of excellent commentary on my posts for a while and it always brightens my day.

The OC she asked me to highlight is Cometstar, the self-appointed ruler of the dark forest in their AU. He was condemned to the dark forest after destroying both ThunderClan and ShadowClan in an act of jealous revenge. Scary!

Next month I'll pick another follower! I'll be trying to pick people who reblog and comment so if you're interested in being considered, that's the way to get my attention. Please do not message me or ask to be featured.

ok hear me out. uc gundam warrior cats au. in the distant future, when humanity has colonized space, clan cats end up coming with them to be "closer to starclan" and form clans either on other planets or in artificial forests aboard space colonies. several clans still remain on earth.

because of the clans being closer to starclan than ever before, some kits are born "star-touched" (this au's answer to newtypes) and have various psychic abilities gifted to them by starclan, which includes but is not limited to:

Future sight

Telepathy with other Star-Touched cats

Able to sense other Star-Touched cats near them

Walking in other cats' dreams

Heightened senses

Ability to leave their body at will to visit StarClan

Stronger connection to StarClan

Other canon-typical Newtype abilities

due to their abilities, most star-touched cats end up becoming medicine cats, but some still decide to become warriors.

also there isn't any mecha, just cats physically fighting with one another (sorry)

I think more Kittypets joining clans should use their kittypet name as a prefix and accidentally be adapted into clan naming culture

ROOTCLAN

RootClan lives in a small forest, camping out in a rocky gorge and eating mostly frogs and salamanders. They're skilled tunnelers, and their territory features a brook that mysteriously bubbles...

Leader; Amberstar Formerly named Amberdaisy, Amberstar is a gentle and cheerful calico tom. He's pretty big and fluffy, and well-beloved by his Clan.

Deputy; Speckledsmoke A pale calico tabby, Speckledsmoke is a skilled tracker and a very stealthy boy. He's a good deputy and takes his job seriously!

Healer; Marmotscreech Marmotscreech is a stout and friendly chocolate-point tom. He is VERY vocal about things, especially things he likes! He likes to chat, and will talk your ear off if you allow him to

BRANCHCLAN

BranchClan makes their home on a rocky beach. Their camp is a clearing surrounded by trees, with nice, soft sand beneath their paws. They mostly eat eels and minnows.

Leader; Whirlstar Formerly called Whirlpetal, this red and white tabby lady is very elegant and graceful. She's the oldest leader of the surrounding Clans, and has a very soothing presence.

Deputy; Mottledpelt There... is not much to say about Mottledpelt. He's a very average guy; he's good at hunting and fighting, but not extraordinary. He's not very bold or particularly courageous. He's just kind of.... here.

Healer; Robinpool Marmotscreech finds himself in good company with Robinpool! Those two will chatter the night away. Robinpool is wise and level-headed, and a very gentle healer. She's a particularly good singer, as well!

LEAFCLAN

LeafClan lives in a marsh, and eats mostly fish and bugs. They have a bit of an issue with rats at the moment, and there's this strange violet-coloured pond within their territory...

Leader; Cometstar Formerly Cometstream, she's a brown and orange tabby who is quite loud. She's not afraid to make her opinion known to everyone. She's pretty bold and brave, traits that are admired within LeafClan.

Deputy; Foxtail Foxtail is HUGE. She is giant and fluffy and SUPER intimidating, even to cats within her own clan. She's pretty clever, too, but it's more her stature that makes her scary.

Healer; Molestalker Molestalker is a very quiet cat, and she knows EVERYTHING. There is not a single thing you can hide from her. She used to be a warrior, but became interested in medicine after her son got very sick. He recovered, thankfully, but she never wanted to feel that helpless again.

SPIKECLAN

SpikeClan lives on a moor, their camp covered with heather and gorse as a shield from predators. They eat mostly hares and small birds, and has recently been struck by a deadly illness, wiping out most of the Clan.

Leader; Jasminestar Jasminestar is the youngest leader of the surrounding Clans, barely even a warrior. She's already lost two of her lives to the illness, and is really struggling with the idea of leadership. I mean, she's never even had an apprentice before!!

Deputy; Amberice Jasminestar's former mentor and father figure, Jasminestar picked him as deputy for his experience and calm, easy-going nature.

Healer; Speckledwhistle Speckledwhistle is stressed tf out, man!!!! His mentor, Firestripe, was one of the first victims of the illness, and Speckledwhistle barely had half his training! He does his best to be cheerful, but it's so so hard right now. He's so tired. Let him rest please.

i'm sorry if this is dumb but, i honestly wish we could've seen more of the hospital's malpractice. like i think the most we've seen is the barry surgery scene and miley getting declawed. maybe it's because we're not that far in the series, but we're mostly told about the hospital's malpractice with the characters' designs being covered in blood and exposition with us simply being told it's a very bad place or a character saying they got some whatever off screen treatment. like, show don't tell? the hospital sounds more like an inconvenience rather than something actually fucked up. "yeah, i get my lungs torn out every cryday, but other than that it's mostly boring."

this might be a shitty take, i don't feel like re-reading the entire comic for this, so if it is feel free to ignore (or call me a bitch idc) but yeah maybe focus more on the actual sparklecare hospital and not cometstars or whatever the fuck. i know we're early on in the series, but we're at volume 4, i think there's a lot of room to sneak in more than like, two scenes of the sparklecare doctors sparklecaring. it doesn't even have to be like, a major scene, just show a character screaming off screen, or a character limping and in a lot of pain after being cut open and dissected. have it actually be something outside of "the doctor did this to me :(" -🫀

Not dumb at all, I actually agree. At this point it doesn't even feel like sparklecare hospital is a real "evil" hospital. They barely show anything bad happening and just tell us that its "a really bad evil place that's very bad and evil and bad". People need to learn about show don't tell before they ever consider making a comic.

I agree that the comic could use a lot more work on it showing parts of the story we have yet to see much of despite it being an important part rather than all the fun aus that kittycorn comes up with every month. If you want to make a good comic, you need to focus on it. It feels like the actual comic is being thrown out the window in favor of the 5 trillion au comics that have no relevance to the story other than having versions of the characters.

Legends say Cometstar was an aspiring deputy named Shiningeyes, who turned to the path of evil to become a leader. The evil corroded his heart but increased his strength, deeming him unbeatable by any cat. StarClan ended his reign by launching a flaming rock at him, renaming him Cometstar to remind him of his mistakes and cursed him to walk with mortals, doomed to lead others to his fate.

i prefer creative naming a little more to be honest!! it’s fun seeing unique names like cometstar, shantysong, and marshmallowcloud (ik the name is a mouthful lmao!!) or names that have uncommon prefixes like locust-, orchid-, laurel-, chipmunk-, etc.

It's a chilly leafbare night, and the apprentice's den doesn't offer much protection. Their nests are threadbare as it is, and all of the comfortable material goes to the nursery and the elder's den. Which is fair, Foxpaw thinks to herself, but it doesn't stop the fact that she's shivering.

Some of the other young cats are cuddled up together, sharing their warmth... But no one's with Basspaw, she notes. The black and white tom was curled into a ball, his paws over his nose... But yet, he was shivering, too.

Foxpaw stood up, shaking herself and puffing up her fur, before bounding over to Basspaw's nest (and, maybe, making sure to step on the tails and ears of some of the other apprentices, on her way past) and laying down next to him.

She places her head on his back, purring gently as he raises his head to look at her.

"Didn't take you for the cuddling type, Foxpaw."

" 'm not. Just stealing your warm."

Up first is Angela, aka Cometstar!

A quiet, fearless leader, Cometstar pushes her cats onwards in the face of hardship with impressive resolve, constantly setting the best example she can for them. When their old leader disappeared without a trace, she was the sole thing holding them together, and continues to be so even now. At times she comes off as emotionless due to her nigh unflappable calmness, but her deputy and medicine cat both know better. Lately, she's been receiving strange visions from Starclan of a mysterious loner threatening all her Clan holds dear- she's determined to stop it and keep her cats safe, at whatever cost necessary.

She stands tall as a rock in the current- but where would beaches come from, if minerals did not erode over time...?
