Ok this isn't something I've seen discussed on tumbler so I will say it here.
Do not use the Splatter color screen special in splatoon 3
It can hurt and cause significant pain to people with sensory or other issues. I think I speak for all of us when I say It would be better if we kept splatoon as friendly and open as possible. People with these kind of issues shouldn't have to be afraid to play the game out of fear of the pain it could cause.
I personally do not suffer from these issues but know people who do and they nor anyone else don't deserve to be hurt like that. so please just use another special.
And please try to spread the word both so people will stop using it and so Nintendo will catch wind of this.
quick doodle for splatana wiper legend arashi who followed me on twitter a bit ago and i was like ?? why’d he follow me and my friend was like “maybe he likes shiver too” (they were right)
Playing Brush is such a fun thing for me. Especially as someone whos legally blind having a way to have high skill expression in a fast paced competitive game without relying on intensly accurate aim is very fun for me
Might stream us in low ink! But it definitely will be clunky as we’re going in with absolutely no game plan (literally just got together 12 days before the event)
I love being a backline for my splatoon team because I get to be the person to yell at people over comms about the enemy team
"THERE IS A SPLOOSH OVER THERE I WANT HIM DEAD"
"The goddamn dapples are flanking againnnnnnn"
"I want that carbon roller obliterated"
I love my job lmao
just because a weapon isn't good in comp usually doesn't mean it won't work
it just means you'll have to make more effort- and your teammates have to make more effort- to make it work. be it providing ink for carbon rollers to shark in, or giving opportunities for brellas to be a nuisance, or giving chip damage for even a dynamo's falloff to get more kills, or whatever.
just know that it's going to take more work if you want to use it in comp.
Have you ever wanted to play competitive Splatoon but were scared off or nervous to try because you weren’t sure you could meet the team requirements? Then we are the team for you! We’re a new team looking for members who can meet the only requirement we have: Stay positive at all times on comms! If you think you can do that, read on!
The most important thing to understand about this team is that we don’t necessarily care about winning matches or tournaments in the traditional way, we care about making the game fun and giving players who might not have had the chance to play comp for whatever reason a place to start and a good experience trying comp out. If winning is your only goal and you’ll be unhappy if you lose, this will not be the team for you. We treat winning as a fun little bonus, not only the thing that matters. That means that sometimes we’re all going to be playing a slightly different game as a team than everyone else. If kills make you happy, we’ll help you get better at getting kills. If playing a particular weapon regardless of how meta it is makes you happy, play the heck out of it!

Preferred weapons: Play whatever you are most comfortable with and have the most fun playing. We don’t care what you main, we care that it’s your favourite and you enjoy playing it.

One thing ive noticed about Splatoon metas is that Support Specials that buff your team are almost always completely busted competitively, even though each iteration has gotten weaker and weaker in its effects
Bubbler in Splatoon 1 was top tier, giving you literal invinicibility
Ink Armor in Splatoon 2 ended in Top Tier as well, and was weaker then Bubbler in a lot of ways
Tacticooler is currently meta in Splatoon 3, and I dont see that changing unless it gets a complete rework and/or pencil gets nerfed to the ground. It is a bit different then Bubbler and Ink Armor from before since it doesnt outright increase your survivability, but it does make dying less punishing and gives a few other buffs
So my question is, is there even a way to make a balanced special in this style? Something that is as impactful as other specials but doesnt take over the game like these three do
I remember when Tacticooler was first announced and so many people praised it for being balanced, and even when cooler first became meta I saw a lot of people happy about it since it made the game more fast paced and didnt have annoying gimmicks like Ink Armor that shut down weapons like chargers
I dont see a way this sort of sepcial really could be changed in a good way that keeps it interesting and viable. I would love your thoughts though
