Last night I sat down to write and my computer was moving super slow. It was update time. So, I allowed it to do its thing. Upon rebooting I opened novel number 4 to continue writing. It opened and I found a spelling error so I fixed it and saved it. A prompt popped up asking if I wanted to save over the previously saved file. I clicked yes... unbeknownst to mwah that the program had not opened my saved file, but a previously saved file. When I saved it, it saved over several pages of writing I created and that writing is forever lost. Gone. Hasta luego. I wrote the pages again with a good attitude and like them better than before. Life! It happens. 'Koffie?' Mijn eega zet een dampende mok voor mij neer, en is direct weer vertrokken. Hij zag die rookwolk boven mijn hoofd. Al een uur ben ik bezig om ‘even’ een  iCloud wachtwoord in te vullen. Niet omdat ik iCloud gebruik, tenminste dat denk ik, maar omdat ik sinds een computerupdate gek werd van het telkens opploppende venstertje 'Vul hier uw wachtwoord in'. Weg-enteren had geen zin, 'Vul hier uw wachtwoord in' bleef als een enthousiaste puppy over mijn scherm rennen. Dus toch maar mijn wachtwoord ingevuld, uit ellende, met als gevolg de mededeling 'Uw wachtwoord is onjuist'. Leuk hoor, jongens van Apple, maar mijn column moet af en de deadline tikt door.

Wat doe je dan, als modern mens? Geen idee meer wat mijn iCloud wachtwoord ooit was, dus klik je op ‘wachtwoord vergeten’ – en ben je voor je het weet een uur met een doofstomme computer in gesprek. Appeltaart1976 ‘Matig. Het wachtwoord lijkt op een eerder wachtwoord.’

 Ik heb een hoofd als een zeef, dus het nieuwe wachtwoord moet wel te onthouden zijn, maar die laptop van mij heeft echt zin om mij vandaag eens behoorlijk op de kast te jagen. Rustig blijven nu.  Mijn geduld raakt inmiddels aardig op, de krant zal zo wel bellen waar mijn column blijft, maar mijn laptop en ik zijn hier samen ingestapt en we zullen het afmaken ook. Ik kijk de kamer rond. Ikzitopeentaupemetzwartebank1976@. ‘Onvoldoende. Dit wachtwoord is makkelijk te raden.’ Hoezo?, zeg ik veel te hard, tegen niemand. Hebben hackers een kleurenwaaier naast zich liggen, kijken ze bij mij door het raam naar binnen? Ikhebzininseks1976 dan maar. Beetje ranzig, maar ik onthoud hem wel. ‘Matig. Gebruik geen wachtwoorden waarmee u ergens anders ook inlogt.’
