Matcha cake with red bean whipped cream! Back when I was severely depressed I would binge-watch 'Cooking with Dog' videos, and one reciple I tried was their Matcha Roll Cake. Doing these recipes gave me something to look forward to, so on the days I could muster the energy to break out of my bed-ridden lethargy, I would buy the ingredients that day and recreate the dishes for my family. Even though I don't bake much these days, it gave me a sense of purpose in my fog of nilhilism, and I'm eternally grateful for Chef and Francis sharing their recipes. Also imma link said recipe because everyone needs to experience the joys of matcha and red bean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNGNu20Upuw #matcha #cake #art #artistoninstagram #artoninstagram #illustration #digitalart #digitalpainting #drawing #sketch #matchacake #azuki #redbean #redbeanpaste #matcharedbean #cookingwithdog #depression #mentalillness https://www.instagram.com/p/BsWHeoDhJbw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=17hx68wcgs3oq

I picked and prepared some white pearl onions, their stems, stamens, and flowers today. I pickled the bulbs, sautéed the flowers with salt, pepper, and red chili powder, and cooked some of the chives in tuna usuyaki (adapted from the Cooking with Dog recipe). Now I feel like my face smells like onion, so here is me as an onion girl.

For the color asks: sea green, coral, porcelain, and cherry!
Thank you for the asks! <3
sea green: can you fold a fitted sheet?
Heheh... this feels like a trick question, as I ran a bed and breakfast for a couple of summers.  I can... wash a fitted sheet, dry it, and return it right back to the bed.  I can also very adeptly wad it up into a ball and chuck it in the back of the closet.
Can I fold it?  Yes, albeit very messily.
----------
coral: an animal you wish hadn't gone extinct
When I was a kid, I had an alphabet book of extinct animals.  I was always fascinated by the opabinia.  It looks like some sort of Lovecraftian horror, but you gotta admit, it seems really cool!  They likely lived on the sea floor, so it wouldn’t be something you’d see every day, but deepwater animals/fish are so neat!
Tumblr media
--------------
porcelain: a tv show you used to love
Confession time: when I was a kid, my brother would tease me about a lot of my hobbies.  I read and wrote a lot.  I’d try to use new words I learned from reading in my spoken sentences and I’d get ridiculed.  I quickly decided to keep my hobbies private.  I was VERY into Sailor Moon as a tween, right down to the point where my pulse would start pounding as Toonami started up their lineup.  I watched it in private because I didn’t want to get teased for liking it.  I ended up feeling really ashamed for liking it in the first place.  In fact, I loved it so much that I faked being sick a few times so I could stay home and use the Internet (this was back in dial up days) to print off a few screenshots of the show I found online.  I hid them, along with some poorly-drawn fanart in a folder hidden in my closet, like a teenager hiding a stash of dirty magazines or something, haha.
Tumblr media
Sailor Venus was my favorite.  She was so gentle with Sailor Moon, and she was also so independent and strong.  I was delighted to find she was even more of a BAMF in the manga!  I really owe my child self to go back and re-watch the entire series with no shame.
-----------
cherry: YouTubers you enjoy watching?
I really enjoy watching emmymadeinjapan, cookingwithdog and Joshua Weissman for cooking tips, methods, and recipes.  Emmy tries some unique fad recipes that are floating around the internet, and Japanese cuisine is my favorite.  Cooking With Dog is downright adorable and has some great authentic Japanese recipes.  Joshua is very informative, no-nonsense and still manages to be incredibly entertaining.
I also enjoy watching content on video games.  I enjoy jacksepticeye’s enthusiasm and sense of humor.  I’ve lately been enjoying watching manlybadasshero’s playthroughs of horror games (I watch the mildly scary/cutesy ones).  I also enjoy caddicarus, although I’m a Nintendo girl at heart.
And, when I need to watch someone tear apart cringey animated content, I’m happy to tune into saberspark’s channel.
Admittedly, I’ve been using youtube for listening to music a lot anymore, curating playlists to suit my characters, or just listening to some chill lofi while writing or some upbeat electroswing when cleaning or getting motivated.
---------------
Sorry, that was probably way more than you wanted to know, lol.  Thanks again for the asks!
Ask me random questions about myself with these color prompts!

they are going to eat this after me when i die
the cowbussy
add to 1 instant ramen pack from freddie's
-cook instant ramen according to instructions up to powder packet part
-cook loose ends bacon strips cut into bite size pieces in oil and set aside when done at the same time
-in a small bowl combine: two cloves garlic (or how ever many to your taste); two things of dried red peppers and seeds (OHEMTYT); oyster sauce, 1 tbsp; hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp; salt; pepper; anchovie paste, 1/2 tbsp; *after cooking the bacon deglaze the pan, turn around in the kitchen, grab the can of beer you have open, use a splash of that to deglaze the pan, and add a tbsp or 1/2 tbsp to the concoction. stire to mix.
-when you add the powder packet add the concoction and stir
-arrange it all in a nice bowl and add some microgreens or onions or something. also arrange the meat. add an egg--but here's the important part
-before that you need to have had about 3 pints of the cheapest beer from freddie's in about 10, 15 minutes. because when you add the egg you're gonna fuck it up and it will not cook in the hot broth like it does on the teevee and it will be 100% certainly raw. that's okay. pound another cold one and take your otherwise nice soup to the table and try to ignore how the egg whites are just not cooking. that's ok. raw yolk is healthy. raw yolk is great. that cookingwithdog nama banana egg yolk shake taught you that. um the whites though... also do this on a day you went to h-mart and bought some natto to try bc it has so much protein and that's SO heaLthY but it did NOT sit well with you earlier so maybe this is the night you die. take another look at egg and power through it

Homemade Sukiyaki - before the lockdown, I panicked bought a little thinking that I might need to plant my own food should food do run out during the lockdown so I bought myself 3 pots of Shungiku seedlings to plant in my garden. I know it was hardly enough to feed someone daily but I still bought it anyway because I wanted to try out Shungiku to see what it tasted like as I have seen videos of it being used in Sukiyaki before.⁣ ⁣ Two months later, they've grown big and ready to eat without any care at all. The rain did all the watering and having fertile soil made it grow well. ⁣ ⁣ Since my bathroom renovation started a few days ago, I thought I would harvest it before all the toxic sawdust from the wood cutting settled on it. ⁣ ⁣ I tried a little bit of it raw and it tasted salty and savoury. It was delicious. When I cooked it in the Sukiyaki, the sweetness of the sukiyaki sauce/soup nicely soaks into the vege to balance out it natural bitterness.⁣ ⁣ If you guys want to try some Sukiyaki, I watched the Sukiyaki Kansai Style video by @cookingwithdog on Youtube to learn how to cook it. My favourite part of this dish is pan frying the thinly sliced, slightly fatty beef in brown sugar and soya sauce before dipping it in raw beaten up egg and eating it with rice. The raw beaten egg might sound and look disgusting but it adds a fair bit of luscious-ness and creaminess to the sweet and salty chewiness of the beef. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #sukiyaki #sukiyakibeef #sukiyakiniku #sukiyakisoup #sukiyakisauce #sukiyakihotpot #sukiyakinabe #homemadesukiyaki #sukiyakihomemade (at Auckland, New Zealand) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBG1zJSFtHO/?igshid=xqagzxjqbg5
