Hozuki’s Coolheadedness aka Hoozuki no Reitetsu

If you happen to watch the series streaming on CrunchyRoll, well get onboard reading the manga. I am a fan, for this series. I initially learned about this publication when I was on the BookWalker Global website. Of course I grabbed onto what I can read. I have already seen the entire tv series, so getting the manga and reading it in English is my next step of re-entering into this world. This manga is currently translated and avaliable in English with Kodansha Comics as a digital first release.

So there has to be some awareness into what exactly does it mean to be in Hozuki’s hell, imagine Dante’s Inferno meets a business office setting and you get this version of Japanese hell and punishment. Hozuki happens to be the administrative assistance for Enma-Daioh and he is humble to downplay his accomplishments. All the while, many characters in the series relies on him to keep his calm, hence the coolheadness aspect in the title.

The series follows the anime quite nicely, or rather the anime follows the manga nicely. This getting into the anime and then to manga follows a trend, where the anime is broadcast, and viewers consume. Then they consume the book, where as it is reading that manga first and then watching the anime.

For readers of this series, there is a great deal of youkai and folklore to be of interest in this series. There is some footnotes, but yes mostly it is expected that the series should be reading this story for fun. If there is more to read alikes, to this story, readers should have read stories like Shigeru Mizuki’s Gegege no Kitaro or Hiroshi Shiibashi,Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan . 

Hozuki’s Coolheadedness currently has  two volumes released digitally from Kodansha, and the 13 episode television series is avaliable from streaming through CrunchyRoll.

"Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2" TV Anime Key Visual is Classy as Hell

  Hold on to your karma, because a new key visual (above) and the ending theme song performer have been revealed for the 2nd cour of Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2 (known in Japan as Hozuki no Reitetsu), an on-going TV anime that adapts Natsumi Eguchi's supernatural office comedy manga about the rank-and-file bureacracy that keeps Japanese Hell running smoothly.

  The ending theme for the 2nd cour of Hozuki's Coolheadeness 2, entitled "Jigoku de Hot Cake" ("Hot Cake in Hell"), is performed by Sumire Uesaka.

    The original Hozuki's Coolheadedness manga is serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Morning seinen manga magazine, and an English language version is also digitally distributed by Kodansha Comics. Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2 is directed by Hiroyuki Yoneda and feartures animation by Studio Deen. The first cour of the series is currently streaming on HIDIVE, who describe the story of Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2 as follows:

Sentai Filmworks has announced a large list of anime it has licensed:

HOUSTON, TX, September 25, 2017 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its newest addition to the Fall 2017 anime simulcast season: UQ HOLDER!, a shonen action series based on the manga by Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina, Negima!). The series will be available on Anime Strike with Amazon Channels—a service that gives Prime members the ability to watch over 100 on-demand channels—no cable required, cancel anytime, and no additional apps to download.

Set in the same universe as Akamatsu’s Negima! series, the story begins decades later with a young boy named Tōta Konoe being struck down while protecting his guardian, Yukihime, against a ruthless bounty hunter. Though his wounds should have been fatal, Tōta not only survives, he learns the reason behind his limited memories – Yukihime is actually a sorceress and 700-year-old vampire who saved his life two years ago by making him a vampire as well. With his powers awakened, Tōta’s life will only get more interesting when he joins a secret society for outcasts and fellow immortals: UQ Holder.

The series will be directed by Yohei Suzuki (The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat., Sword Oratoria: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side, Urara Meirocho). The second season of the supernatural comedy Hozuki’s Coolheadedness thrusts viewers back into Eternal Hell! The second season of the slapstick comedy ClassicaLoid reunites normal high school girl Kanae with her least favorite house guests. There’s Beet-san (otherwise known as Ludwig van Beethoven) and free-spirited Motz (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), as well as fellow squatters Chopin, Liszt, and Schubert. These maestros have already proven they have the skill to save the world with their explosive melodies called “Musik,” but with the addition of two new Classicaloids  – Richard Wagner and Antonin Dvorak – Kanae is sure to be at her wits’ end. What new realities will these Classicaloids compose with their Musik?

Kei Umabiki takes over as director for the second season ClassicaLoid. First season director Yoichi Fujita will act as story supervisor, with Michihiro Tsuchiya returning for series composition. The show was created by NHK & BN Pictures..

The person involved with the music for works like Final Fantasy X and more, Masashi Hamauzu, is in charge of BGM creation, with “mujik” contributions by Japanese electronic producers and rock musicians, including Tomoyasu Hotei (Transformers Live Action), Daisuke Asakura (producer of T.M. Revolution), Tsunku (composer and lyricist for Morning Musume), and MTV Video Music Award nominee tofubeats. ClassicaLoid 2 proudly adds two additions to the musical staff: Chisato (from rock band, Penicillin) and Kouchi Tsutaya (music producer of groups like Ikimono-gakari and more).

This anime adaptation of the otome game by Honeybee Black follows the professional and personal lives of four hot boy bands under the “DYNAMIC CHORD” agency and music label. There’s progressive rock band rêve parfait; newcomer Liar-S; veteran rock band KYOHSO; and international sensation, apple-polisher.

Shigenori Kageyama (Himawari!) will both direct and handle series composition duties. Character designs will be helmed by Yasuomi Umetsu (Kite, Kite Liberator, Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil). The show’s art director will be Shinji Katahira (Hellsing, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Restaurant to Another World), with animation production courtesy of Pierrot (Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Black Clover).

DYNAMIC CHORD is scheduled for an October 2017 broadcast in Japan. It will soon be available to stream on HIDIVE and select digital outlets for the Fall 2017 simulcast season, with a home video release to follow.

Pick of the Week: Delectable Digital

SEAN: As I noted i n Manga the Week of, I think this week breaks the record for most volumes in one week, helped along by Kodansha’s burgeoning digital lineup, which I’m sure the rest of the team will be talking about below. My pick of this week is Barakamon, though, which is seemingly a slow-moving, relaxed series but in reality has moved from strength to strength, and the development of its characters in this volume in particular is amazing. It’s become one of my favorite manga series.

MICHELLE: There are several debuts this week that I’m really looking forward to, but the single volume I most want to read is the fourth and final That Wolf-boy Is Mine! The series surprised me with how good it was, and I wouldn’t miss the conclusion for anything.

KATE: I’m most excited about Kodansha’s latest digital offerings. The swoon-worthy covers for Altair: A Record of Battle and Hozuki’s Coolheadness are calling out to me.

ASH: Agh! I’m so conflicted! Once again, I’m probably most interested in Kodansha’s digital releases this week, but I don’t generally read manga digitally. I really hope to see some of these like Altair: A Record of Battle and Hozuki’s Coolheadness eventually make their way into print. In the meantime, my official pick for this week goes to Goodnight Punpun which continues to be an incredibly surreal and uncomfortable but powerful and resonate work.

ANNA: I have to say, I’m finding Kodansha’s digital releases very compelling, although so much is coming out, I can see myself losing track of titles I want to read fairly easily. That being said, Altair: A Record of Battle is what looks most interesting to me, so that’s my pick.

MELINDA: Like Kate and Ash, I’m pretty interested in Altair: A Record of Battle, but I think I’ll put my vote in for Hozuki’s Coolheadness, which seems likely to ping a lot of my personal preferences all at once. And if I only wish these were being made available in print, I guess we take what we can get.
