his  hands  were  held  out  in  front  of  him  and  he  could  do  naught  but  stare  at  them,  words  stuck  in  his  throat.  his  mind  a  mess  of  what  could  have  been,  what  should  have  been.  how  did  it  all  go  wrong  this  was  not  supposed  to  be  their  end…     his  hands  were  red  with  the  blood  of  his  flock,  the  blood  of  his  siblings.  his  children.      oh…   his  child.  he  stares  blank  at  his  hands,   only  seeing  red.   ❛  what  have  i  done?  ❜   in  times  of  peril  he  would  turn  inward,  but  it  was  inward  that  had  betrayed  him.

❛  this  was  not  gods  plan…  ❜   his  voice  barely  above  a  whisper  as  he  sat  on  his  knees  staring  into  his  palms.  ❛  this  was  not  his  justice  ,   this  cannot  be  how  it  was  meant  to  end.  ❜     how  long  had  they  been  down  here,  how  long  had  they  been  abandoned.

❛  but…  this…  he…  i  was  chosen.   ❜   now  it  felt  like  he  was  a  broken  record.  repeating  it.    i  was  chosen.  i  was  chosen.  i  was  chosen.  i  was  chosen.  i  was  chosen.        i  am  abandoned?     ❛  why?  ❜  lifting  his  head  he  looks  at  her,  his  eyes,  empty.  ❛  what…  what  have  i  done  wrong?   i  did  all  that  it  asked,  i  was  faithful,  i  was  loyal…   so  why  god?  ❜   confusion  dripped  from  his  last  words.     he  needed  an  answer,  something  to  make  sense  of  everything  storming  in  his  head.
