^ player species section for Goblings from my ttrpg, tumbletables
Goblings. they're kinda the mascot of corebound for me, given they're the first species i'd designed for it and their close tie-ins to the main lore (hence why this blog's profile picture is a poorly drawn one)
As creations of the core, their original purpose was to ascend the earth and reach the surface, filled with fantasies of the stars. Unlike many, many other corespawn, they succeeded (albeit hundreds of generations later) (corebound adventurers are likely to find gobling encampments, both populated and abandoned, most commonly in the mid-levels of the earth).
Goblings didn't find much solace on the surface though. surface civilizations (especially upon their initial arrival) weren't too welcoming of corespawn, and the goblings themselves certainly weren't adapted to life under the gaze of the sun. many goblings returned underground, while others fought for lives on the surface in the name of their ancestors.
Gobling culture varies from the surface to different depths. Surface Goblings are encouraged to give birth under starlight (but preferably not that of the sun). The core is a controversial topic on most depths above the mantle. Goblings journeying to the core are ostracized by many members of their communities (more common higher up), but celebrated by nearly as many (more common deeper down). A similar inverse effect applies to Goblings ascending the earth.
All in all, they have a lot of complexities which i'll probably dive into in a follow up post later down the line, as well as a better description and some art of what they might look like

Incoming Gaming Stream (Deep Rock Galactic)
Despite my best efforts, this cat is still pretty eepy, but hopefully I can perk up enough to obliterate some more bugs and smash some more corespawn on this triumphant return of Morkite Monday!

97 and 108?
97. Answered!
108. Which area of Exandria do you want the Mighty Nein to explore in the coming year that they haven’t yet?
There are some really cool monsters and creatures in the “Explorer’s Guide” that live east of Xhorhas in Blightshore (they’re called corespawn) and I’d love to see those. That whole area is super interesting from a lore standpoint too, because it’s the worst wasteland from when the gods fought at the end of the Calamity, and is corrupted by weird and dark magic.

Cosmic Creatures & Synthetics.
08.26.2018
It has been several days since we rescued mother from the clutches of Prince Osman IV, but she still refuses to leave her loft. She is content with wallowing in her grief. Worse still, whenever I actually get her to turn and face me, there is nothing but anger and hatred in her look.
This has not affected my conviction that we did the right thing. I do not know what he did to win her back those last three days, but it is evident he had her under his spell.
—————
I have continued talking with Viktor. Every day we go out for a walk, and we just engage in idle chat. It’s touching how much he wants to know about my home.
I’ve also pushed him to tell me about himself, what he likes, what he’d like to do. Sometimes I forget our ancestors had short lives that very rarely spanned more than 100 years.
These walks are my favorite part of my time in Millennium City. Something about spending time with him makes me feel different and strange, in a good way. Our chats make me forget about everything looming in my immediate future.
————-
One thing that bothers me about this time is how freely and unchecked these synthetic abominations are allowed to move about. It seems humans are unaware about how large of a threat these things are.
Just walking around and watching these wretched creatures acting line innocent do-gooders sickens me. The Holy War for Chita taught us that sentient ai can easily become a threat to organic life.
—————
A very interesting aspect of this city is the kind if creatures that visit it from time to time. Last night I met a couple of extremely intesting individuals.
One, Gravitiar, is the fusion of a human and a corespawn. Corespawns are ancient creatures that make their homes inside supermassive black holes, though he described it as the center of the galaxy. Though he said his kind are spread throughout the universe, they are nowhere near our supercluster. It makes sense though, since they number in the millions, and it sounded like their population is centered around the Virgos cluster.
Like us, the Corespawn struck me as extremely xenophilic, loving to talk with and get to know all sorts of alien species. This common ground made it natural for us to ask similar questions of each other.
The other individual was strange. He seemed to regard himself as the protector of this universe, which is actually a fairly common claim in Millennium City. What I found strange was his insistance that his duty is to protect all stars.
My reasoning is that countless civilizations exploit stars as building blocks and energy sources. In our recent war against the synthetics, both sides blew up thousands of stars, lingshot others into enemy systems, forced stars to supernova so we could mine neutronium from the newly created neutron stars, and even converted some into black holes.
That was us and the Hazar Hierarchy, both K-3 civilizations. K-4 and 5 civilizations do that with entire galaxies. Of course, we also reactivate brown dwarfs, so maybe he doesn’t mind when it is for the sake of progress.
Overall, it was a very interesting talk.
