Coronavirus (Covid-19) Infection Commercial Cleaning - Keen To Clean
Most Australians are feeling frightened and unsure about how to protect others and themselves from the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. Following the rules established by the Australian Government and the World Health Organization (WHO), including good hygiene, sanitization, and disinfection measures, is advised by experts as the best defense.
We're prepared to assist covid-19 infection cleaning
. We can overcome this together.
Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19): What is it? According to the WHO, COVID-19 (also known as "Coronavirus disease") is an infectious disease brought on by a fresh strain of coronavirus that was only recently detected in humans. The name "coronavirus" often refers to a group of viruses that can cause anything from the common cold to more severe conditions like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Fever, exhaustion, a dry cough, shortness of breath or other breathing issues, body aches, nasal congestion, a runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea are typical symptoms. When the condition is severe, it can result in pneumonia, kidney failure, SARS, and even death. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales, droplets from their mouth or nose are released into the air and can be inhaled or come into contact with. These droplets travel through the air and land on nearby surfaces. When people touch or breathe in these areas, they may potentially contract the disease.
Effects of COVID-19 The rapidly spreading COVID-19 epidemic is now regarded as a global pandemic, which denotes that a new illness is thought to have spread "worldwide." Over 700 COVID-19 instances have been confirmed as of the time of publication in Australia, with New South Wales and Victoria accounting for the majority of cases. In Australia, more than 100,000 people have undergone viral testing, and regrettably, six people have already passed away.
Australian authorities currently advise frequently washing hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer when hand washing is not an option to prevent contracting or spreading the virus. using the crook of your elbow or arm, not your hands, to cough and sneeze Avoid touching your face as much as you can practice social distance by staying 1.5 meters away from other people whenever you can isolate yourself if you feel ill, have recently been abroad, or have come into contact with a confirmed case
How can I clean in a way that keeps both myself and others safe? It is more important than ever that we all adhere to best practices for personal hygiene, surface sanitization, and disinfection, especially in locations with limited space, like commercial office complexes.
How long can a virus remain on a surface? Although the solution is now unknown, experts think the virus functions similarly to other coronaviruses. In light of this, it is likely that the virus can survive on surfaces for anywhere between a few hours and many days, depending on elements like the type of surface and climatic variables like temperature. Disinfectants should be used to clean surfaces that are thought to be contaminated in order to eradicate the virus and lessen the risk of injury to you and others.
Cleaning vs. Disinfecting for COVID-19 The practice of disinfecting involves destroying or deactivating disease-causing bacteria and viruses on surfaces, whereas sanitizing will generally only reduce the number of bacteria on surfaces to acceptable levels and is ineffective against some viruses. Disinfecting is chosen for treating surfaces at a higher risk of contamination, especially if such contamination relates to a highly contagious virus like the new coronavirus, even though cleaning is typically sufficient for low risk circumstances.
Do I require expert cleaners for my property? Publicly accessible locations like malls, food courts, grocery stores, pharmacies, community services buildings, schools, daycare centers, and other establishments that frequently house large crowds of people should receive special attention from trained cleaning specialists during an outbreak and, in fact, during a pandemic. Hospitals, nursing homes, community centers, and medical institutions all need frequent specialized cleaning since they care for the most vulnerable people (the old and those with weakened immune systems). It might mean the difference between life and death.
Why hire experts in this case? Quality and experienced professional cleaners are trained and equipped to apply best practices to disinfection and sanitization of surfaces suspected of – or at risk of – contamination resulting from coronaviruses. Professional cleaners are also fully equipped and prepared to protect themselves from potential infection when cleaning hazardous areas and have the means to ensure proper disposal of contaminated waste. In a time when supermarket shelves are bare and supplies available to the general public are low, you can rest assured that reputable professional cleaners will have access to cleaning agents, equipment and personal protective supplies. An established set of protocols will be used by a respectable professional cleaning service to guarantee adherence to the most recent recommendations made by the Australian Government and the World Health Organization. We at Keen To Clean recognize that this is a difficult time for everyone. Our experienced and dedicated team of professional cleaners are here to help alleviate some of that stress and anxiety by ensuring your premises are appropriately sanitized and disinfected, and helping you to do your part to reduce the spread of the outbreak. Currently, we provide services to clients in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney's suburbs as well as the city center. Get in touch today to discuss your needs and obtain a free quote.

march 10th, 2020 ( chapter 4 , week 2 )
sypnosis: The new year has just started– you’re moving into a place with your closest friends after reaching the peak of your career. Now that you can afford to live in Tokyo, you can finally spend time with your closest friends and go out on the town to further grow your YouTube channel. It’s time to have a new start in your new place and meet hot, rich people to be your possible future partner. This is the life to live; it’s great being famous and living in a big city with your best friends!
Wait, never mind– COVID-19 is in Japan? Fuck.
Well, at least there’s this one hot guy you keep seeing on Tik Tok who keeps posting about cleaning.
[ 9 : 02 AM ]
You were nursing a warm cup of hojicha to your chest in your favorite mug. Your legs were crossed atop a white modern-style stool by your kitchen island. This was your morning routine– you’d wake up (at some point), drink either some tea or coffee, and check your phone before staring out the window and questioning life.
There were many windows in your apartment. They spread out across the walls, giving the room lots of sunlight. You always pulled up the blinds in the morning.
Things were only getting more worrying in the news. Today, the government of Japan officially declared the coronavirus outbreak a national emergency. As of this point, there are 514 people infected and there have been 9 deaths in total. The emotional strain it’s taken on you is already terrifying. You’re seeing articles about the state of corona in China, and it’s even worse.
You text your parents a couple times every day, making sure they haven’t caught anything. Their growing age worries you. If they caught the virus, what would happen? You don’t think you could handle it. You’re too young for that right now. You look at the clouds in the distance through the window, the entire sky blanketed in a thick cover of gray fluff, offering wishes to the sky.
It’s getting warmer and more humid outside. Around this time, you were planning on buying a bunch of spring clothes for some new videos. You couldn’t leave the house, though.
But you didn’t mind that. You were just waiting for the end of this in a couple weeks. You wanted to stop worrying about your parents and about your friends. It was exhausting, looking at the news and worriedly going to the Phone app to call your parents to check if they’d left the house or if they started developing random symptoms.
You get knocked out of your anxious trance when you hear Hinata opening the door from his/Oikawa’s room and yawning a muffled “good mornin’” to you. You uttered one back to him, smiling as you finished the last of your hojicha and hopped of your stool to walk over to the sink, washing your mug and placing it into the dish rack.
“How was your sleep?” you ask as a way to distract yourself, heading back to your favorite stool.
Hinata was in the middle of grabbing bacon, eggs, and orange juice from the fridge for an American-style breakfast. He sighed when he heard your question. “See this bump right here?” he pulled his bangs from his forehead and pointed to the growing red bump on his head. “I hit my head again.”
You laughed at him, causing him to groan and release his hair back onto his forehead, fluffy orange curls flopping back down. “We should really get those shelves removed. It’s not like we use them anyway,” you said, pausing. “Hm. I guess we should remove them after coronavirus ends.”
Hinata just turned on the stove and placed a pan onto it. “Want some?” he offered, putting oil on the pan and waiting for it to heat up. He turned on the stove fan, so you listened as the machine whirred to life and started breathing in the delicious smells of fried bacon.
“Absolutely!” you thought for a moment before speaking up again. “Hey, why don’t we get some pool noodles, cut them, and then put them onto the edges of the shelves? It’ll protect your head at night.”
He turned back to you for a moment, his eyes brightening. “That’s genius!” Then he paused and narrowed his eyes at you. “Wait. Isn’t that what they do to babyproof a house?”
Laughing, you nod your head. “It would still protect your head, though! Maybe I’ll order some the next time you hit your head again.”
The ginger scoffed. “Please just get them now. You know I’ll hit my head again!” he complained before realizing the bacon finished cooking. He placed the bacon evenly onto four plates.
You watched his back as he moved around, grabbing one of the eggs from the carton. He cracked the egg open, gingerly dropping it into the pan as it sizzled and hissed in the bacon’s grease. Meanwhile, he plugged the (really cute) white retro-style toaster into the power outlet and plopped pieces of bread into it for the eggs.
You were very proud of this toaster. You gave it to them as a housewarming present before you knew you were going to move in, knowing that you wanted the toaster for yourself. You were glad that you inevitably started owning it.
Hinata made four plates for everybody and placed yours in front of you. Grinning, you told him to move close to the plate so you could take a photo to show off how great of a roommate you had. He smiled brightly behind the plate, putting up two peace signs.
It smelled amazing. These were the kinds of moments you were grateful for when you moved in. You were really looking forward to more of these moments.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today is upload day! Starting last week, you’ve started to double the amount you normally upload onto YouTube. This, of course, means that you need to work twice as hard, but you’ve been stuck inside, so there’s not much else to do.
You’re waiting as your video uploads to your channel, sitting in the living room next to Oikawa as he edits one of his videos. He’s wearing blue-light glasses and a fluffy grey bathrobe that you gifted him for Christmas, sitting with his legs rested atop an ottoman and ankles crossed together.
He’s truly the epitome of a modern-day man. In his earbuds, his voice plays over and over again as he cuts and moves around clips of himself. You’re doing the same, editing a video for next week.
Today, you’re uploading a video for outfits in quarantine. You pray that the algorithm takes kindly to this. In your video, you clarify your update to your uploading schedule, and you tell everybody to stay inside and stay safe before giving them tips for outfits. Of course, all of the clothes are linked in your description. You aren’t a monster.
In fact, you’re wearing one of those outfits that you showcased in the video– some sweatpants and a mock neck sweater underneath your graphic-designed sweatshirt. Of course, you popped on quite a lot of jewelry. After all, “accessories are necessities,” as you always repeat in your videos.
Your hair is put in a cute and trendy hairdo– one stolen straight off of TikTok.
When the sound of your own voice and the sight of your face starts to repulse you, you put down your laptop and head to the fridge for a drink. “Hey, ‘Kawa! Want somethin’ to drink?” you call from the kitchen to the living room to ensure that Oikawa can hear you through his earbuds.
He jolts for a moment and pulls out an earbud in his panic. “Oh! Yes! Could you grab me a juice?”
You grunt out an affirmation before sitting back down next to him and handing him his mug. During this gesture, he also puts away his laptop and lets out a relieved sigh while stretching out his arms and wrists. “Have you finished uploading yet?”
You check your laptop quickly, seeing it at 58%, and then shaking your head. You pull yourself into a sitting fetal position on the couch, and you face Oikawa. “So, I talked to Kenma about doing some sort of Minecraft server thing with him and uploading it to our channels. Wanna join? I’ve already asked Tobio and Shoyo.”
Oikawa’s eyes widened. “A Minecraft server? Dang, I haven’t touched that game since 2015… but my builds were god-tier, so yes. Absolutely.” He finished the last of his juice. “Get ready to be pranked 24/7.”
This statement makes you cackle. “What makes you think that? I’ve destroyed you so many times in Mario Kart. I doubt you’ll be any better at Minecraft. Do you even know what a cave is?”
He rolls his eyes. “You only ever win because you cheat!”
“How is following the game’s rules cheating?!” You laugh as he accuses you.
“Stop placing banana peels in front of me!”
“Dude. Bro. ‘Kawa. I love you man, but you can’t blame the game’s mechanics for losing in this case. Accept that you suck.”
Oikawa ceases this subject matter because he knows he’s lost. “Anyway, when are we gonna do it?”
Craning your head up to the ceiling, you say, “Honestly? I’m not sure yet. Maybe about a week or two. Maybe when we’re out of this quarantine?”
He then crosses his arms together. “I wouldn’t bet on this ending anytime soon. I think it’s going to last longer than two weeks… Why are you so convinced it’ll end soon?”
“I don’t know. I guess it’s because I can’t imagine it lasting any longer. I don’t want it to,” you admit, bringing your gaze back down to the ground and groaning. “I’m worried about my parents.”
He pats your back to comfort you, and rubs your shoulder to ground you. “It’s alright. We’ll keep sending them groceries every two weeks, so they won’t have to leave the house. I’m sure they’ll be okay.”
Then, a notification sound knocks you out of your emotional state again. “Oh! It’s finished uploading!” You then get busy liking and responding to comments to distract yourself from your worries.
Oikawa glances at you and gives you a soft smile before getting back to his editing.

[ 10 hours later ]
You shrieked in your bedroom after checking on the video you just uploaded, a hand clasped over your mouth after the high-pitched noise. It was the dead of night, but your brain didn't even register that you made a horrifying noise.
Your brain was completely frozen, staring at the screen on your laptop.
Worried, Oikawa, Hinata, and Kageyama all rushed to your door and opened it in a panic.
"What's wrong!? Is there a pervert!? A thief!?" Oikawa screamed, holding up a lamp as a makeshift weapon.
Hinata was holding a plant. Kageyama wasn't even holding anything. He just looked sleepy, confused, and worried.
The ginger had definitely shuffled out of bed at your scream, and you could see a red bump forming on his nose from where he probably tried to get up in a rush to make sure you were okay.
"G-Guys. I reached three million views in ten hours!" You screamed, jumping off your bed and jumping for joy into their arms.
The three men were frozen for a moment, confused. This was before they started jumping with you, smiles of joy cracking open at their faces.
"Oh my god! We need to celebrate! Let's grab some champagne!"

COVID-19: HAIR AND NAIL SALON 2023 RISK AND SAFETY TIPS
The disease Covid-19 is brought on by a contemporary corona virus strain. While "Vi" refers for the virus, "D" is for diseases, and "Co" stands for Corona. When getting your hair or nails done during the Corona virus time, there are several risks that may be brought on by illnesses.
You do not have to be six feet apart when getting your hair cut or getting your nails done. You are barely separated by one foot from one another. There is still a risk associated with wearing a mask. Both of you could wear a mask since you are in close physical contact with each other.
However, because you are not physically separated from one another, it is also important to take into account the lengths of time you will spend in the Salon. It does take up to 35 or 40 minutes to take care of a woman's hair or nails. Your chance of catching the virus increased the longer you spent in the Salon.
As a reputable salon, you must guarantee the staff's and customers' health and safety in the salon setting. Everyday hygiene must be observed. However, when you keep one to two feet between you and other people, the danger of contracting this virus is minimal.
You must practice social distance when taking two or more hours to do your hair or your nails. To lessen the possibility of contracting an infection, you should make it a practice to refrain from touching faces, especially in public. Additionally required for disease prevention are enough rest and frequent hydration.
Cleanup and disinfection must always be done properly. If a member of your team has a fever, is having trouble breathing, or is frequently coughing, you should ensure that they stay inside and consult a doctor or other specialist to determine the best course of action for a diagnosis and treatment.
Even as a client or manicurist, you must make sure to stay up to date on the Covid-19 illnesses' most current developments in your city or state. To prevent cross-infection, you must sneeze or cough onto the tissue or bent elbow and then remove it right after.
The overall data on the preventive measures must be observed and acknowledged. These safety recommendations will guarantee that the risk of contracting Covid-19 at your workplace has been decreased for you, your employees, and your clients.
HAIR AND NAIL SALON SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ADEQUATE FUMIGATION
Hair and nail salons must always ensure that their workspace is thoroughly cleaned and fumigated. Their tools, equipment, and facilities with tables, curing rooms, reception areas, and styling centers must all be fumigated first. Make careful you use antibacterial cleaners strictly and frequently when cleaning up busy areas.
WASHING BY HAND
To stop the spread of germs, it is advised that you wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds using soap, detergent, and water. As a licensed manicurist, you are required by the World Health Organization to wash your hands both before and after dealing with each client. washing your hands before and after using the restroom, before and after eating, and after blowing your nose, sneezing, and coughing. Manicurists and hairdressers are required to supply buckets with water.
ALCOHOL-BASED HAND SANITIZER IS PROVIDED
Each salon entry needs to have a hand sanitizer. Before performing any services on a customer, hairdressers and manicurists must strictly enforce the usage of alcohol-based hand sanitizer. employees members must sanitize their hands in order to stop cross-infections and get rid of any viruses, especially between clients and employees.
Tumblr media
REMAIN INSIDE.
Take lots of vitamins, unwind, and sip apple water to keep your immune system healthy. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) strongly advises that everyone stay indoors during this time.
SET UP YOUR SALON ACCURATELY
To encourage healthy habits, make sure to supply tissues, detergents, and hand wipes.
DO NOT SHAKE HANDS.
Hugging and handshakes between customers and employees must stop during this COVID-19 period. By refraining from shaking hands, you can let your clients know that the salon practices good cleanliness.
DO NOT TOUCH THE NOSE, MOUTH, OR EYES.
Since touching the eyes, face, and nose is the easiest and quickest way to catch these diseases, both the manicurist and the clients must refrain from doing so.
TRANSMISSION AND SIGNAGE
To educate guests and clients on the importance of hygienic stands, such as handoff rules, post signage must be present at the salon's front desk and in the break room.
WEARING A MASK
Before performing any services on a client, hairstylists and manicurists must demand that they put on a precautionary mask.
KEEP A PHYSICAL DISTANCE
In order to give each client a private space, space separators must be supplied in the salon area.
STOP BITING YOUR HANDS
Anyone who has experienced the discomfort and anxiety brought on by this global pandemic is likely to develop the unnatural habit of biting their nails.
Such a person may be more susceptible to getting the virus as a result of this practice. Biting your hands is not a sign that you are completely disobeying the law, but it does mean that you are ingesting any bacteria that may be present beneath your nail bed and your nails, which is bad for your health.
Anyone who bites their nails at this time must wash their nails with antibacterial soap to prevent the spread of any illnesses.
CONCLUSION
In order to avoid contracting these diseases during the COVID-19 periods, you must also carry out ongoing preventative measures such wearing a mask, acquiring and using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and routine hand washing. You must be sure to spread out your visits to the Salon as a client to reduce exposure. It would be excellent if you could take care of your nails yourself. Make sure you are aware of and have the supplies you need to take care of your nails at home. The ideal moment to practice nail care is now.

Green Cross Ethyl Alcohol
When Corona Virus first hit the health status of the country in the year 2019, each member of every family became vulnerable to getting infected. Along with this global health threat, many people have relied upon the use of disinfectants to protect themselves from this virus. One of the leading materials used for protection in this time of pandemic along with soap is the consumption of alcohol. Alcohol that is being used as a sanitizer can dissolve or denature protein structures inside active bacteria and viruses. One of the advantages of using rubbing alcohol is that it can be used as it is, and doesn’t need any other products to activate the germ-killing power.
GreenCross Ethyl-based Alcohol in 70% solution is 99.99% effective to kill germs on contact and in forming barriers to prevent the passing of viruses, more specifically inhands-to-hands connection. Ethanol, a topical and organic substance to prevent skin infections, which roles as the product’smain component, guarantees provides optimum level of care forskin resiliency while being sanitized.
Aside from its uses in one’s hand or body, the GreenCrossethyl alcohol can also be used for cleaning and disinfectant purposes for various household materials. Personally, at home, this was used in tables, chairs and sofas, clothes, and body accessories, each of which is subjected to be a factor to transfer the virus. However, it should be noted that the product must avoid contact with the eyes and inhalation of vapor, also this product must be put away from sources of ignition as it may trigger a fire.
With all the different sanitizing alcohol products available on the market, consumers must be aware that the GreenCrossEthyl Alcohol does not only protect them from the virus but also has the care to moisturize their skin.

Eye Care During Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
Eye Care During Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
Introduction
Eyes are one of the entrance points for highly contagious Coronavirus. Caring for eyes is more important than ever before. Taking good care of the glasses and contact lenses by way of cleaning them properly with the necessary liquid reduces the risk of infection. Further, limit the screen time of your children as this may lead to computer vision syndrome.
What Not To Do With Your Eyes?
Certain protective measures have generally been recommended to take care of the eyes. Those recommendations are even more important during the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety measures for eyes include:
youtube
Your Safety Is Our Priority | Necessary Precautions Against COVID – 19 at Ojas Eye Hospital.
Disinfect the surfaces: Coronavirus may also spread through eyes. You should disinfect the frequently touching surfaces such as railings, doorknobs, etc. to avoid getting the infection to the eye through your fingers touching them.
Do not rub your eyes: Avoid rubbing the eyes frequently as your eyes may become the possible entry for Corona Virus to enter your body. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to avoid exposure to the virus.
Tears may be the carrier: After touching the eyes, you should wash your hands. Tears in the eyes may also be a possible source of infection.
Coronovirus And Conjunctivitis
It has been indicated that conjunctivitis or the pink eye may be a symptom of COVID-19 infection. Patients with conjunctivitis may experience redness, irritation, and watery eyes. It is also to be noted that conjunctivitis is contagious. If you are experiencing ocular discomfort, redness, or increased tears in eyes, consult with your doctor.
Wearing Eyeglasses During Corona Epidemic
People may consider wearing glasses if they are previously using lenses. Although not considered as a preventive measure, wearing glasses may reduce the ocular exposure of Coronavirus into your eyes. This is because when someone sneezes, the droplets may fall on the glasses and not directly into the eyes. However, the virus may also enter through the open areas between the glasses and eyes.
Know How To Disinfect The Glasses
As the virus may hold its place onto the frames and glasses, the person should know how to properly disinfect the glasses. The virus may reside on the solid surfaces for hours to days. There is a high possibility that it may transmit through these channels. The frame and glasses are cleaned with warm water and soap. The frames and lenses are then dried by using a clean cloth.
Taking Care Of Your Lenses
Extra care is required in handling the lenses as they are in direct contact with the ocular surface. Change the contact lens solution daily. Wash the hands thoroughly before removing or inserting the contact lenses. Stock the contact lens solution and a pair of additional lenses. Take detailed information about lens care from your ophthalmologist. Do not change your brand for a solution or contact lens as this may cause irritation and discomfort in your eyes.
Availability Of Ocular Medications
Various eye medications are used for a long period. These include medications of glaucoma and dry eyes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the supply of such medications may get disrupted. You should maintain a sufficient stock of these medications to avoid inconvenience. However, it is advised not to overstock the medications as these may get expired and may also cause inconvenience to other patients.
Increased Use Of Digital Devices
There is a trend of increased use of the digital device in both adults and children. There is an increased risk of developing computer vision syndrome. This may result in dry and red eyes with increased tears. Limit the screen time of your child to prevent ocular conditions. The online classes also increase the time of children on digital devices. Do not allow your child to see the computer or smartphone at least 60 minutes before going to bed.

Coronavirus, Covid19 Symptoms and Treatment
Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people infected with COVID-19 carry mild to moderate symptoms and recover without specific treatment. However, some people get seriously ill who require medical attention. If you feel corona affected, you need to consult at the covid hospital in Ambattur Chennai.
Tumblr media
How does Covid19 virus spread?
The virus can spread as small droplets of liquid through the mouth or nose when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, sings, or breathes. These particles range from larger respiratory particles to smaller aerosols. You can become infected by breathing in the virus when you are near someone with COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Viruses spread more easily indoors and in crowded environments.
Signs and Symptoms of Coronavirus
·         Fever
·         Cough
·         Tiredness
·         Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
·         Muscle aches
·         Headache
·         Chest pain
·         Sore throat
·         Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
Variants of Covid19 Virus
Viruses like SARS-CoV-2 change over time and continue to change as they become more prevalent. Virus variants can also occur. A variant is when a virus contains at least one new modification from the original virus. Some variants of coronavirus, like Delta and Omicron, spread more easily between people. We know that we can protect ourselves from the virus and its new variants by-
·         Get Vaccinated When It's Your Turn
·         Keep A Safe Distance
·         Open A Window If Possible
·         Wear A Mask
·         Cover Coughs And Sneezes
·         Keep Hands Clean

A Tripledemic!
What’s in the news today?
Tumblr media
News Headline
Has anyone seen the news lately? And even if you haven’t, chances are, you’ve heard about the triple threat that’s looming over the US this season. A quick google search on this topic lists similar reports from all the major news networks, CNN.com, New York Times, PBS News Hour, Today.com, just to mention a few.
CNN reports that doctors are seeing the warning of three public health threats converging this fall.
The Flu, RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) and Covid are threatening to overwhelm the health care systems, states PBS news hour. Which reports that more than three-quarters of pediatric hospital beds nationwide are full due to the combine spread of these three viruses.
Tumblr media
Young child hospitalized
It’s now being called the “Tripledemic”! Yeah, you heard that right! A Tripledemic!
The New York Times also stated that the Flu cases were higher than usual for this time of the year and were expected to soar in the coming weeks, but as the flu cases were increasing in number, Covid cases collided with the resurgent season, causing a “twindemic”! And as if that was not enough, RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) have also been straining pediatric hospitals in some states, combining for the “tripledemic”.
Tumblr media
From left: 1) Colored scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a human cell infected with H3N2 flu virus (gold filamentous particles). 2) Scanning electron micrograph of human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) virions (colorized blue) that are shedding from the surface of human lung epithelial cells. 3) Transmission electron micrograph of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron virus particles (gold).
As if Covid wasn’t bad enough all on its own. I mean, with putting the world on lock down for two whole years. Now to be hit with not just one threat, or a double threat, but a triple!
I know that this time of the year (with Thanksgiving Day and the Christmas season) is a time for “coming together” but this is not what I had in mind. I don’t think this is what anyone has in mind when they think of coming together- not three public health threats combined!
Is it just the US that’s affected?
No, the numbers are climbing across the border as well.  In Canada, according to a recent CBC News report, RSV infections jumped 800% in New Brunswick compared to last year.
Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam stated that the triple threat of these three viruses is posing a challenge for the health system in several parts of the country.
What’s causing these Infections? Viruses!
Tumblr media
Viruses causing the Triple Threat
The Flu - Influenza
Tumblr media
The flu, I believe we are most familiar with, is caused by an influenza virus. There are four types of influenza viruses: A, B, C, D. The two main types of human flu viruses are Influenza A and Influenza B, and influenza A also has different subtypes. These are routinely spread over the course of the flu season each year and cause illness. Moreover, the influenza A virus not only infects humans but are also found in many different animals as well, and there has been transmission of influenza viruses between humans and animals. Influenza A viruses are the only influenza viruses that have caused flu pandemics. Influenza A viruses are spread mainly by tiny droplets of infected body fluid from coughing, sneezing or even talking. They can also be spread by toughing your mouth or nose after coming into contact with an object or surface  that has the virus on it. That is why we are encouraged to cover our sneeze or cough, to wash our hands often, clean commonly touched surfaces and to avoid touching our faces (mouth and nose) to prevent the spread of these viruses.
Covid-19
Tumblr media
COVID-19, I think, we are all too familiar with. COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019) is a respiratory disease caused by a corona virus. Corona viruses are a large family of viruses that can cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses in humans but may also cause severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The 2019 outbreak was caused by a new corona virus, by SARS-CoV-2 that was discovered just then. Similar to influenza virus A, corona virus spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, but some people may be infected with the corona virus and not have any symptoms. Similar precautions, as before stated for the flu virus, can help to reduce the spread of COVID as well.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Structure of RSV
Of the three viruses mentioned, RSV may be the least familiar to us even though it is a commonly spread virus. Respiratory Syncytial Virus, RSV as its name suggest, is a contagious virus that causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract. It usually affects young children and elderly adults. Symptoms can be mild and typically mimics the common cold, but as with the flu and covid, RSV symptoms may be severe as well. Previously stated precautionary measures can also reduce spread of RSV.
So, what’s the reasons for this merger?
Based on the different news report, reasons for this triple threat includes a stronger season of respiratory viruses that started earlier than usual, along with the strain on the health system as a result of the shortage of health care staff, and other ongoing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, it just seems to be the perfect storm.
Why are so many children affected by these viruses?
Think about how these viruses are spread. Now think about how young children play. Got your answer? A common belief is that children are mostly affected because at Daycare and school, young children may spread “germs” (viruses, etc.) more easily because they are less likely to cough or sneeze while covering their mouths, and they touch and share not just their toys in the process. Additionally, the upper airways of young children aren’t fully developed until school age, and that puts them at increased risk for more frequent viral infections. And not only that, Dr. Marcos Espinal, an epidemiologist and assistant director of PAHO, added that recent COVID-19 restrictions meant that pregnant women were not exposed to some of these viruses, and that prevented antibodies from being passed on to their babies in utero and that may also be a contributing factor to this “tripledemic”.
What symptoms to watch out for in young children?
According to the news reports symptoms to watch out for (other than sneezing, coughing, congestion, etc.) in young children includes, your child/ren: not making urine, not breathing properly, not eating or drinking; pretty much not acting like themselves. Seek medical attention!
Tumblr media
What are governing public health organizations saying about this?
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC
The CDC has issued its highest-level  warning to public health officials regarding this surge of respiratory viruses, particularly among children, that are overwhelming health systems across the nation.
U.S. Health and Human Services, HHS
“With increased RSV infections, a rising number of flu cases and the ongoing burden of covid-19 in our communities, there’s no doubt we will face some challenges this winter,” stated Dawn O’Connell, assistant Health and Human Services secretary for preparedness and response.
Pan American Health Organization, PAHO
The international public health organization, PAHO director, Carissa F. Etienne, stated that “Countries must be vigilant of ‘triple threat of COVID-19, influenza and RSV as holidays approach. With an increase in COVID-19, influenza on the rise, and a spike in cases of RSV PAHO director is calling on countries to implement tools proven to keep communities safe, particularly in the run-up to the festive season. As she rightly stated, “the rise of a single respiratory infection is a cause for concern. When two or three start impacting a population concurrently, this should put us all on alert.
What can we do to help?
I will leave you with the words of Dr. Jose Romero, director of the CDC’s Immunization and Respiratory Diseases “People should practice everyday preventive measures such as cough hygiene etiquette (that is, covering your coughs and sneezes), staying away from individuals who are ill, and frequent hand washing or using alcohol gels. People may also choose to wear a well-fitting mask as an added precaution.”
So do exercise caution traveling this season to prevent the spread of viral infections as you have fun with family and loved ones.
Happy Holiday!

Echoes of Memories: Transition of Pandemic Life to New Normal
I thought 2020 was going to be as planned, yet, it was a year full of surprises and unplanned happenings. February 4, 2020, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Arch Gabriel.
Tumblr media
I was 19 that time and everything was new to me. Of course, as a first time mom, everything was overwhelming. I didn’t have a mom who could teach me things.
Tumblr media
March 14,2020, there was news that there has been a virus called Corona Virus and needed to lock everything down for a week. Students and some are very happy because of course, no classes and work. But, there were lots of COVID cases and the lockdown needed to be extended. Everyone was curious, and kind of worried because people were not able to work and didn’t have money to support their everyday needs.
Tumblr media
(ctto)
Meanwhile, I was recovering from giving birth and still getting used to being a mom and having a baby who is completely dependent on me. I was not able to go out for quite a while already and started to get very irritated with everything. Small things affected my mood big time and I cannot control how I react over things. Waking up every 2 hours to feed and change Arki’s diaper was getting exhausting for me. Washing the clothes, cleaning the house, and feeling imprisoned inside our house started to take away my happiness. I didn’t understand why I was acting that way when my one true dream since elementary came true, to become a mom. It was a long term dream of mine since I never had a mom growing up, I wanted to make my child feel and experience everything that I didn’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The news started to make me scared and anxious about everything. I was cleaning the house twice a day, washing my hands every hour and was very scared to go out. Mostly, I was scared that I was going to lose everyone due to the COVID outbreak. My father and I were always open about things. He was there when I could not control my tears and started crying non-stop. I did not sleep for three straight days because I was so scared that someone was going to die. I called Papa while crying, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t even speak and figured out the main reason why I was acting that way. Papa was very worried and kept on asking me what was happening until that same day, my OB Gynecology doctor told me that I might be experiencing Postpartum Depression. According to her, moms, especially the first time ones, mostly experience Postpartum Depression and it highly affects the mood of mothers.
I guess, having to spend a month inside our house without seeing anyone other than my baby made me feel like I was alone all throughout my journey of being a mom. Since that day, my Papa has become my comfort. Every time I feel like crying without any reason, I’ll just call him and he makes me feel comfortable and calm every time.
Tumblr media
Fast forward to December of 2020, I was starting to get used to the routine of being a mom and having to stay inside the house due to COVID. Until, my aunt or godmother got sick unexpectedly and needed to be confined at Westlake Hospital. She had an infection with her blood and after a week, she died. She was my Papa’s first cousin and one of my favorite people. She was one of my second mothers and her death made me feel very sad. I was crying for a week and starting to ask God why it happened. I was questioning Him why my godmother, Ninang JJ, died. The thought of death scares me until today. It was 2 days after Christmas when she died, t’was the saddest holiday that I ever experienced. My Papa comforted me the whole time and explained to me that death doesn’t mean she left me, she will always be there looking over me. Until holidays passed, everything was starting to go back to normal, although we were still sad about the sudden passing of my godmother, we are now able to spend a day without crying.
Tumblr media
My son, Archy, started learning new things, and babbling words like Mommy and Daddy. The experience of being a mother still excites me until now. His little achievements make me feel very proud. Yet, I still feel like there was a void inside me, my achiever self. I miss the achiever, studious, and active Nicole. I asked my Papa if I could go back to school. My father asked me to get my records and enrolled me again. I was very happy and thanked everyone, especially him.
Tumblr media
It was a hot afternoon, the same day, when my stepmom called me and asked me to go to our house because apparently my father was having a high blood attack and didn’t want to go to hospital. She also asked me to buy medicine and I immediately left our house and went to the nearest pharmacy. It was the longest tricycle ride that I ever experienced. I felt like the time was so slow and it took a while for me to reach our house though it was just 5 minutes away. When I reached our house, I saw my father laying on the bed and he said “Oh, bakit ka nandito?” I said “Ayaw mo raw kasi magpadala sa hospital, halika na, hindi ka naman i-confine doon, para lang hindi na tayo kinakabahan.” He said okay and when he got up, he couldn't stand at all and I was very shocked. He was also mumbling the words when he spoke so I already knew that it was Stroke. I drove the car and we brought papa to the nearest hospital which is Evangelista Hospital. When we got there, everything was so fast. He got his CT scan and the doctors found out that there was bleeding on one part of his brain that is connected to his vital organs. He needed to be confined in the ICU, but since it was COVID the ICU was full during that time. The nurse set up an ICU at the emergency room. We were calling hospitals, hoping there would be a vacancy at their ICU, but there was none. We accepted the fact that he will be staying at the emergency room.
That night, April 28,2022, the doctor said he needed to be intubated because his oxygen is dropping already and I was the only one allowed to make decisions since I am already at the legal age and my mom was not there. I am an only child and came from a broken family, grew up with my Papa and we endured everything together. I asked the doctor if it was the only option and he said yes, so I signed the waiver and they intubated Papa. He was awake when he got intubated and I could hear him in pain during the procedure. I was praying and asking the Lord to comfort him. After that, I went to him and said “Papa, sorry ha? ‘Yan nalang daw kasi ang only option kaya ako nag yes. Laban tayo, Papa ha?” He couldn't react with his face but his foot was swaying back and forth and I knew that he was listening. My stepmom and I continuously assured him that we are there with him. I needed to go home because I needed to feed and prepare Archy for tomorrow since I knew that I would not be able to take care of him since Papa is in the hospital. I told Papa that I’ll be back. When I got back, the doctor was there checking on him. He was having a fever and about to have a heart attack when the doctor told me that he is now brain dead or comatose. He had no reactions and his body was withdrawing the medications that were given to him. The doctor’s exact words were “Sa sobrang critical po ni daddy, baka hindi na siya umabot mamayang hapon.” That exact moment I couldn’t feel anything at all. The doctor asked me if they will revive Papa if ever his heartbeat goes flat and I said no. Papa always wanted to have a peaceful death and no electricity at all. I immediately called our family and asked them to go there because of Papa’s condition. I went to Papa and whispered in his ears, “ Papa, hindi na po kita pinarevive ha? Alam ko nakikinig ka ngayon at alam ko na alam mo na mahal na mahal kita. Ikaw na po ang bahala, huwag mo ako alalalahanin kasi pinalaki mo ako na matapang, kaya ko ‘to.” A tear fell down on his left eye and I knew that he was still there, listening. I knew my Papa was listening to me that time, he was still with us. I couldn’t cry that time. All I could think about was I needed to be strong because Papa needs me. My aunts and uncles came and they bid their goodbyes to Papa one by one. When his last sibling bid her goodbye, his heartbeat went 5, 10, 15, but never flat. My other aunt said, “Kuya, okay na. Pahinga ka na, sino ba inaalala mo? Si Nicole, kami na ang bahala sa kaniya, hindi namin siya papabayaan.” After my aunt spoke the last word, his heartbeat went flat. I froze, it seemed like everything stopped. That exact moment, the only thing that was running in my mind was I am now alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I lost Papa, he left. He died. I hugged him until the St. Peter's staff came to get his body. I still can’t believe that he died. I couldn’t feel anything during that time. Honestly, I was in denial and when I saw him inside the coffin for the first time, I still cannot feel anything. I needed to sign papers for the funeral and such, I have a lot on my plate since I was the only one allowed to. People came and I was surprised to see that he had a lot of friends and people who loved him so dearly. Papa was the kindest person I knew but also the most introverted person. I did not expect that he would have a lot of friends. Everyone was saddened by his passing. I couldn't sleep that night, it felt so unreal. The second day of his burial, I kept on looking at him, making myself believe that it’s really him inside the coffin. Second night was the last night and that was the time that I cried. I cried very much because thinking that it would be the last night that I would get to spend with the person who became my anchor for 19 years, my person, my best friend, the person who never got tired of me, the only person who kept encouraging me and believing in me, My Papa. I cried non- stop and I kept calling him, asking him to wake up. The next day, everyone was very busy preparing for the funeral and I was there still crying. When we were at the cemetery and about to say our last goodbyes to Papa, I was really crying and shouting. It felt like my heart was going to explode because of what I was feeling. I lost my person, he is now gone and I cannot see him forever. That thought killed me, and it will always leave an empty space inside my heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that happened, everything never went back to normal. I still cry about him until today, remembering him and how he loved me so much still makes me miss him very much. I was so mad at my mom that time because she never came, even a glimpse, she did not say sorry to Papa for everything that she did. She was not there for me. I was all alone with Archy, my son. I kept asking God, “why me?” Why do I have to endure all this pain? What did I do wrong for Him to do all of these to me? I was so mad and felt like everyone was going to leave me. I pushed everyone away. It was still pandemic, so I used that time to isolate myself from everyone. I promised myself not to put myself back to that situation again wherein someone will leave me and I’ll feel broken and lost. As a result, I isolated myself.
Not until my 20th Birthday, May 16, 2021, my family greeted me and asked me if I would like to celebrate my birthday with Papa at the cemetery since it’s been almost a month since he died. I said yes, and started asking for help. I told them that I was not feeling well like I used to before. I told them about my thoughts, and my aunt who is in Canada asked me if I want to get checked by a Psychiatrist. At first, it was hard for me to say yes since I was in denial and I told myself that I am okay and I can do everything on my own. But then, my aunt said, “Hindi naman dahil nagpa-check ka ay baliw ka. You are okay and what you’re feeling is valid. You just need help to overcome those feelings kasi para sa anak mo rin at sarili mo. Archy needs you.” That was my wake up call, my son needs me. He needs a mom and I remembered my forgotten promise to never abandon my son and make him feel alone like what my mom did to me. All my life, I continuously lose the people that I love and because of that, I always felt like every time there is someone who genuinely loves and cares for me, they’ll also leave one day. I always felt like something bad was going to happen and that made me feel very anxious about my environment. The doctor prescribed me a sleeping pill which will help me sleep every time I can't. She also referred me to a counselor and the counselor asked me to write everything that I feel including my thoughts down to a notebook, and I did. I wrote everything from the anger that I am feeling for my mom, that I get scared that someone I love will leave again, that I felt alone since Papa died, that I still blame and doubt myself because of the decisions that I made when he was still in the hospital, that I question God why He is doing these things to me. I wrote everything down then I burned it.
Tumblr media
After that, I realized like I never had to endure all the pain alone, I have people who continuously believe in me aside from Papa, I have Archy who needs and looks up to me. Then, I realized that everything has its purpose. Papa always wanted me to go back to school and after he settled my school fees, he died. Maybe, that was his last mission here on Earth. Second, I got pregnant early maybe because God knew that I needed someone whom I can hold on to and that will keep me going because Papa will die earlier than expected, and that’s my son, Archy. Everything that is happening around us has their own purposes and we should never question the Lord. I excelled at my subjects and joined competitions that I enjoy while also working at night and being a mom 24/7. The COVID virus is still in the Philippines together with its new variants, yet, the cases are slowly getting controlled and slowly getting back to normal. We are now allowed to go to malls, buy groceries without the need of a quarantine pass, but still need to be cautious with our actions since there is still a virus everywhere. I still miss Papa, but the thought of him being with Jesus without the feeling of any worry, pain, etc. makes me happy. I am indeed proud that he raised a strong, independent, and brave woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looking back, maybe the reason why I needed to go through all the pain is for me to learn, discover, be stronger, and strengthen my faith with the Lord. I never knew that I could move on from all of the pain that I endured. However, thinking about what happened during the 2 years lockdown, everything was so fast. While the state of our country is going back to its normal routine before pandemic, the lessons that the COVID virus taught me are unforgettable. I really enjoy being a mom of a 2 years old beautiful baby boy, Archy. I am having fun being the Vice President Internal of a wonderful organization. I love working for my company. Lastly, I am enjoying the journey of being me. Life may not be perfect, yet it has a lot of lessons to learn. I may not have everything that I want, but I have all that I need. I may not get the highest grades in class, but there are lots of things that I am grateful for. I may not be the perfect mother, but my son is growing beautifully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pandemic may have left us with emptiness, broken hearts, painful memories, but it also left us with realizations and lessons that other situations can not. While things are slowly getting better, I will never forget how this pandemic changed my life. The pain is still here, especially the pain of losing Papa, but I know that slowly, everything will get better.

This is Nicole Aubrey Canarias. A mom, daughter, grandchild, niece, employee, student, and fighter. I survived throughout and I know that I always will. I will end this essay with a quote that I read in a book. It says, “I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.” Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Life is full of storms; it is your response to each storm that determines where you eventually end up. Keep on fighting, love. Life goes on and there are lots of things to be grateful for.
