Still, Quentin knew the words would probably not be taken well, and was more than prepared to fly out of the way of whatever was sent at him.

Given the hour he’s more surprised that it’s himself who staggers through his own front door. Shirt bloodied beyond saving and bruise fresh and only just starting to darken. He ignores Peter in favor of finding a seat. Sitting heavily and balancing his forehead in his palm. Eyes closed against the spinning floor. “Pass me the frozen peas and tell me your day was better than mine.”

She hates New York. There’s always something happening that is out of everyone’s control. Maybe she should have stayed in London. Maybe it would be quieter and not as dangerous. Could she live in a place like that though? Could she deny the part of her that ached for some sort of excitement?

He’s in the alleyway beside her shop, pressed against the wall as if it’s holding him up. She can’t see his face because of the shadows and Alice doesn’t know if he’s injured or not. Heterochromic eyes squint to try and get a better look to no avail.

“ Are you alright? Do you need assistance? ” The brit questions, swallowing hard as slender fingers twist the messenger bag’s strap nervously.

Quentin didn’t really have a reason why he kept the glasses--they still hung on his shirt, unused, yet never returned.

He could go poetic and claim he kept them because no one should have that kind of power, and that the kid was relieved to not have to bear it, but that was a load of crap and he knew it.  

It was likely simply liking the power and the perceived companionship. 

A hand rose and idly rubbed the frame.  They were almost always visible, and yet he never wore them--it wasn’t unexpected that they’d eventually be questioned.  

“They’re nothing.  Useless.  An artifact from the first world I visited.”
