Neat headcanon about the Novakids deciding their own brand! I love hearing others headcanons for starbound. Also i hadn't thought about it but that probably is Noble's actual brand isnt it... I thought it was a pair of fancy Novakid sunglasses over his actual brand.

ITS FUNNY YOU SAY THAT bc i did have an additional headcanon that there's (typically metal) plates Novakid can hook onto their brands and its purely decorational. LOTS to consider with the reasonings for this.

I also am sitting on headcanons that, since Novakid lore states that they're so scattered across the universe and thus probably don't keep in touch (or even know about other Novakid), there MUST be civilizations of them out there where the brands they came up with are placed on other parts of the body. Like halos, horns, rings, bracelets, maybe even just thin strips of metal elaborately placed all over their bodies like 3D tattoos. They can't ALL convinently be on their face.

If they do, that implies that either they are born with the innate knowledge of how to make the brands (which would explain how they rapidly accelerate into metal-working ages but then stall out), or they just Happen to Always Come Up with This. (This is ofc going under the assumption that they arent born with the brands, which I go by lmao).

Looking back at their og concepts, Novakid also have cores, which most likely are located in their heads since their protokid forms are (presumably) the core + the brand. And since the brands help them keep their forms, they're probably always located on or around the head for the sake of being close to their core. BUT, Again, in the game itself, you can play as a brandless Novakid, which could obvs just mean "oh this one just didnt develop one. u know how nature goes".

BUT, I think its infinitely more fun to have the brands be a signature form of: "we as a society and an evolving people have found a way to make life easier for us + extend our lifespan." It adds SO MUCH MORE of a flexible, social aspect to them.

Going back to Noble, I'm actually bouncing back and forth on whether or not I think his brand is natural or not. Like, I absolutely think he WOULD get a coverplate bc he's just THAT married to his job, but I also get that vibe that this is him inside and out. He radiates an energetic sense of a purer form of justice, and I feel like he has just been like that ever since he was a wee bab. And maybe just clung to the Peacekeepers bc it was the nearest thing he could find that matched what he was after.

He rebuilt the Peacekeepers from literal scraps because he understood and abided to the underlying message of keeping people safe and knowing that even the smallest efforts to beat back all the fear and evil in this vast universe is still something, and its always worth the fight. Could go either way, but I'm leaning more toward that's just his actual brand.

(Prologue)

Field Report_A1 of the four wind threat present on Delta Continent

Moving in from the overtop was a massive presence that rumbled the ground we stood on and caused minor rupturing in 3rd operative’s eardrums. As it approached over the mountain ridge, we were overpassed by the bright spotlights that clung to the bottom of the Superheavy class independent force flagship, the North Wind, who announced its presence to our terrified task force with a blast of its horn, causing several avalanches visible in the mountains it was making a low pass over. An executive decision was made to evacuate our company resources making a u turn back onto the ice sheet. Unfortunately the worst came to pass as rather than a direct pursuit we would be able to evade, Superheavy class ship North Wind had deployed Union force pilot MH-194, turning this into a scramble rather than a low rush. 2nd operative sighted the massive locks on the port side hangar opening and the lights inside flashing as the MH pilot was cleared for launch. It is to be noted the North Wind showed signs of wear on armor but fully operational faculties, upon cross reference with company records company reports; it is concluded that multiple reports of mining operations suddenly going dark around the 5th continent can be connected. Pace was immediately picked up on the convoy as 2nd operative sighted the immediate vapor trail of the approaching craft and the shock wave produced as the sound barrier was broken only 100 meters after the MH pilot’s launch. Even going as fast as company hovercraft could manage, the MH craft caught up soon, revealing that there was no Magniloop signal coming from it, implying to team technicians a nearly entirely analog or alternatively powered craft. 12.5 seconds after deployment the MH craft made a low overpass of company hovertrucks, the force of which nearly lifted us off the ice shelf entirely. Craft then made a loop in the air before touching down, time analysis shows a speed of at least mach 10 judging from distance from the North Wind to Convoy. Upon rising to its feet steam was vented at a high pressure from both knee joints before coverplates slid back into position over the ventilation. Expect no response.

Naturally a GLOCK™ factory or aftermarket GEN3 slide will fit and function on a GEN4 frame, but there are a few issues to address. First is the ugly gap and the second is the flex in the frame because of the large hole.

The Gen 4 slide still will not fit the Gen 3 frame. the New 3DS item in ACNL Welcome Amiibo lets you use one of your patterns as a customization option. i haven't seen anyone mark out guidelines for this item, so here's an approximation i measured myself (while working on my own pattern)

note: if you want to have your pattern face where you open the system (like many real life 3DS patterns / coverplates) you'll probably have to draw said pattern upside down

since it's kinda hard to undo things in the game's pattern editor itself, i'd suggest you use Animal Crossing Pattern Tool (and maybe drawing it with pixel art tools of your choice before importing to there)
