Twelve things I noted about CR2E41 “A Pirate’s Life for Me" and the Talks Machina about it :

Matt : *does a long and beautiful recap of everything that transpired between the Mighty Nein, and also Fjord and Avantika* … “And then they fucked”

Orly can do magic tatoos than can up some characters’ stats. This is AMAZING and I want the entirety of the Mighty Nein to have tatoos.

Nott as a powder monkey, is the most beautifully logical and messy thing in the universe. Fjord immediately regretted his choice of naming her at this position.

The Might Nein are the weirdest and nicest pirates ever. The phrase “killing you softly” comes to mind regarding their methods for boarding other ships.

Sam did a gesture so obscene when Nott tried to open the magic box, I can’t believe this man.

Caleb gave Jester the magical paint. Nott imediately freaks out, saying that now if Jester paints dicks, there will be dicks everywhere. Matt : “I didn’t think this through !!!!!”

Nott, with glee and menace in her eyes : “I was born to be a canonneer !”

Beau volunteers to seduce Avantika, because of course she does.

After Nott gives Jester the worst advice, related to boys, the Traveler’ advice is slightly better… well except for the enchantment part. It’s interesting to see everyone freak out at the private talk between Jester and her gods, because (and this was later confirmed by Talks) they clearly think he’s up to no good, like a cult. And yes I can see where it can be creepy. But after what Jester went through with the slavers, abandonned by her god, of course she’s happy when he comes to chat !

Dani hosts Talks ! Everyone jokingly agrees that thank god Brian’s out. No but she’s really good and cute. But so is Brian, for all his jokes.

Taliesin reveals that he as almost tatooed against his will that one time, and no, he doesn’t say any more on that.

I love Fjord in the pirate arc because it’s him but it’s not him because he’s still trying to channel Vandran and he’s being so cold, but he’s really not cold at all. It’s great.

I wish I could write about Caleb better and I know I’ve already said this and I’m sure there’s a post somewhere about it, but there really is something about how Caleb and Fjord both approach everything like it’s a transaction but in wildly different ways.
