Craig Burley tells Erik Ten Hag to give up on Anthony Martial Anthony Martial has resumed training with Manchester United, but it remains uncertain how long he will stay fit. Last week, he returned to Carrington for pre-season training and was seen smiling.  Martial may feel fortunate to still be part of the Manchester United team and receive a generous salary.  However, it seems unlikely that his contract, which currently runs until next year with an option to extend until 2025, will be renewed. Once the transfer window concludes, Anthony Martial is anticipated to lose his position as Manchester United's number nine.  According to The Mail, Manchester United is willing to entertain offers for Martial, but it is doubtful that they will receive the desired £25 million asking price.  Craig Burley from ESPNFC criticized Martial and suggested that Manchester United should abandon their pursuit of the forward. He said: “All this waiting around for Anthony Martial and people like that, waste of time. Complete waste of time. “He’s what I would call, and I’ve played with players like this, a bit of a waster. And by that I mean players who are talented but either don’t train hard enough, don’t apply themselves hard enough or just can’t cut the mustard on the big stage. “He’s one of those, I’m not suggesting which one, but he’s one of them for me.” Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke is of a similar opinion. He told Talksport: “The moment you leave as a top player, to go on loan, that’s a worry. That’s a red flag. your best players don’t leave your club. “I think he’s had his time, personally speaking.” In the previous Premier League season, Anthony Martial began in just 11 matches, and surprisingly, he has not played a full 90 minutes in a league game for Manchester United since 2021.
