Why you should choose body wash over soap to exfoliate your skin and save it from harmful chemicals?

What do you prefer a soap or body wash or shower gel? It is a never-ending debate. Well, most of us as an Indian use soap over any body wash. But do you know that by choosing any random soap bar over a body wash you might be harming your skin?

Our skin is the largest organ and plays important roles in keeping us healthy. It protects us from harm, disease and injury and helps regulate body temperature. We as an Indian are used to take bath with soap bar. While soap is sold to us as exfoliating and removing black heads but do you know soap does more harm than good?

The conventional soap which are made by mixing oil or fat with an alkali such as lye, can wreck skin by changing its pH, obliterating healthy bacteria and striping away vital oils. Healthy skin pH is around 5.5, which is acidic in manner but soaps have much higher pH, some soaps has as high as 11. When skin pH is too high your body produces excess sebum to fight back and restore its pH level.

Soap includes ingredients which are considered to be dangerous chemicals such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) also known as a “mutagen” that can alter cellular materials. Others like Benzyl Acetate are carcinogens that have been linked to certain kinds of cancers. If you are not sure what’s in your soaps, your best bet is to throw them out. Bar soaps are generally the harshest because they have a higher, more alkaline pH than that of normal skin. Bodywashes and shower gels are made differently, with surfactants or emulsifiers, and are closer to our skin’s natural ph.

Why one should choose body wash/shower gel?

How many times it has happened with you that you don’t feel like you have taken shower even after having one? As compared to regular soap, your skin feels a lot more relaxed when you have bath with body wash. Shower gel helps you exfoliate your skin. Using loofah can help you exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin layers. But when you choose loofah with a shower gel and use it to wash your body, you gently remove any dead layers, dust, or impurities that got accumulated o your body.    

Many people complain that using bar soap leaves their body feeling dry and rough. Which is not the case with body washes. Most of them comes with hydrating and moisturizing properties which make your skin soft and smooth for a long time. also, shower gels are easy to carry. Just open and use. They come in a variety, handy bottles that can be used specifically for travel purpose.

Do you have just one bar soap in your shower area? If that's the case then it's high time you switch to a body wash. Using shared soap bar means you are putting your skin at risk. It can make bacteria accumulate on your skin. Whereas using body wash is much safer.

While choosing body wash for daily use you should take care of certain things too. There are a lot of options available in market for bodywash. Many of them includes sulphate and parabens for foam or lather. If you step out in market to purchase shower gel you will get countless number of brands offering same harmful body wash. When it comes to choosing your body wash, be very careful of products containing harmful ingredients and chemicals. But there are other brands that provides genuine products Such as Cream Art.
