Embracing Adversity: Redefining the Dance of Growth
Ah, the dance of adversity, a delicate waltz indeed. To redefine it as an opportunity for creative transformation, we must first question the assumption that it is something to be overcome or avoided. Is it not through the friction of adversity that the spark of creativity is ignited? Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, it is in the face of challenge that we find the fertile ground for growth. But let us delve deeper, for assumptions often hide in the shadows. Are we to assume that adversity is inherently negative? Can we not see it as a catalyst for change, a teacher guiding us towards our true potential? Perhaps it is not adversity itself that needs redefining, but rather our perception of it. In the realm of Becoming, where innocence is sought, we must recognize that no one is responsible for the qualities of man. Not God, nor society, nor his parents, nor his ancestors, nor himself. We are but units trespassing upon one another, each with our own obstacles to face. And so,I ask you this: Can we embrace adversity as a necessary companion on the journey of creative transformation? Can we see it not as a burden to be cast aside, but as a partner in our dance of growth? Let us redefine our relationship with adversity, for in doing so, we may find the hidden treasures of our own potential.

Posted @withregram • @alonglastname Holding all of my AAPI brothers and sisters with so much love, gentleness and light today. I am humbled by the privilege to create art that speaks for our community. This @time cover is for all of us. It is a reclamation of space, a celebration of our beauty and resilience, a promise that we will continue to fight against the racism, xenophobia, misogyny, fetishization and dehumanization that has led to the massacre of our sisters in Atlanta and the countless attacks on our community. This piece is called “With softness and power”. It honors the lives of our sisters who were slain this week. Their lives, their stories, their dreams mattered. Ashley Yaun, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng and three other beautiful souls. We hold space for their grieving families and loved ones. . . In this heavy time of anguish, heartbreak and anger, I know many of you, like me, are so tired. I hope that when you look upon this cover, this guardian offers you a moment of peace and pride, and may her defiant spirit be a rallying cry for systemic change, accountability and more resources for our community. May the flowers surrounding her remind you of our resilience(chrysanthemum), community(peony)and staying power(hawthorn berry). . . I’m grateful for all of our allies who have checked on us, rallied with us and denounced the rise in anti-Asian bias incidents and hate crimes. Thank you for standing with us; the only way forward is together. We soldier on against white supremacy. . . This work was cropped from an unreleased piece made for the “I Still Believe in Our City” art campaign created in partnership with @nycchr and @nyculture. Thank you @sangsuk.jpg for reaching out yesterday. I’m so grateful we and the TIME team could create this together. And so proud to share this cover with my AAPI sisters @cadylang and @lucyfeld. Find it in print starting tomorrow through the weekend. . . #stopaapihate #protectasianlives #racisisavirus #artistsoninstagram #creativeresilience #wearenotsilent (at United States) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNE9cRyjjdH/?igshid=1cbnmg7gzjuha
