Hello! So today is currently Rizal Day in the Philippines and I wanted to share this little comic I made for our Rizal class a year ago. The prompt was the "ideal filipino woman" based on Rizal's "Letter to the Women of Malolos". For those not in the know, Rizal is the Philippine National Hero.
I took some relevant quotations from that letter and placed it in the perspective of an alternate Pia Alba, a character from Noli Me Tangere.
I took some relevant quotations from that letter and placed it in the perspective of an alternate Pia Alba, a character from Noli Me Tangere. In the original story, she withered away after being taken advantage of by Padre Damaso, inevitably dying after giving birth to Maria Clara. The concept for this comic piece came from me and my boyfriend's conclusion: if the world Pia Alba had lived in prioritized moral good derived from rational thinking and passed that strength onto her child, then maybe things wouldn't have ended as badly as they had.

only fools fall (for you) (on Wattpad)
Crisostomo always thought that Maria Clara was his soulmate. He knew he felt something when he looked at her eyes for the first time when they were young. It seems that he was completely wrong. AU where the name of your soulmate is written on your wrist.

i’m putting my works on wattpad!

For a Plate/output for my Desktop Publishing class, we were tasked to recreate a more modern cover for the novel "Noli Me Tangere" by Jose P. Rizal. And this was mine. "Noli Me Tangere" (roughly translated as "Touch Me Not") is a novel made around 1887 written by the Philippine's national Hero, Jose Rizal, during the colonization of the Philippines by Spain to describe perceived inequities of the Spanish Catholic friars and the ruling government. That man is supposedly Crisostomo Ibarra, one of the main characters in the novel. I'm not 100% proud of it but it's one my most profoundly made works. This work was totally out of my comfort zone, or rather, it's something "new" for me to do. The reason I'm not a 100% confident about this is because, after it was finished, I realized all the other options and ideas I could've incorporated, and this already took me hours to make that I cannot make another one. But the groundbreaking novel Jose Rizal wrote was beyond atmospheric, but changed the face of Philippine history, that I' glad I was able to interpret This as it's cover (for our College output atleast). This was such an experience to make, and I think I want to make more artworks like these, mainly, non-vector, human models, and stuff like that haha. And yeaah.
