The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.
I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.

Here is the Davy Stripey Sweater!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a TRIAL!
The color scheme was, first of all, very difficult to see and decipher. The original sweater that Davy wears is actually a printed jersey fabric. The smallest feasible stitch I can do is a single crochet, and that was about the size of what a larger stripe would've looked like. I had to adjust tremendously to make it work. I did get through one go through of the actual stripe pattern (yes, there is a pattern!). It was also a different number of stitches in width which made a little difficult to figure out the neck hole size and the tightness of the ribbing. I also adjusted the original general pattern for sweaters to make the neck more comfortable, but it did turn out a little floppy-ish.
On the positive, I used up a lit of colors I normal would never touch. I really liked how unique the color scheme of this sweater is, and once I got the hang of it, I flew through it when I didn't have any work to do. I still need to snip a few fluffy here and there, but it's a really.cozy sweater! Once it goes through the wash it should relax a little and be even more comfy to wear :)
I find it really interesting that there were sweaters like this back in the sixties! I don't normally think of these kind of crazy stripey sweaters as relevant to that era... anyway, here's to Davy! 🍻 below, my friends, is the pattern!
The pattern is from this video:
youtube
The only thing I did differently was by adding a few more rows to the back panel. Instead of doing ten rows for the shoulders, I did 4 rows on the back panel. That way, the neck wasn't choking me much. The rest I followed to the tee.
Color scheme:
Tumblr media
The color scheme was as close as I could see, but if you see something different, by all means! :) The sleeves start (after the blue cuff) at the 2 rows of red portion of the pattern you can see on the right side. From there, just follow the pattern until the end, then go back to the beginning (I've heard this before...)! Please let me know if you all need more clarification on the pattern 😊
I'm excited for the next one!!!!!!!

The Entrelac Crochet Tutorial Masterpost
Tumblr media
A really neat crochet technique is called entrelac, which is also available for knitting. But, as we all know: I don’t knit😂🤣. At first it can seem really daunting to pick up entrelac crochet because the pattern seems so intricate, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really easy and the end result is just stunning 🤩, especially with a good color combination.
So, here’s a few tutorials to get you started, enjoy!

Anika, the fox doll tutorial / crochet pattern
Tumblr media
Our Creative Fiber has released a new crochet pattern for a sweet little fox wearing a bow tie. You can check it out in video form in our Youtube channel, or as an add-free pdf pattern in our Etsy store. This is a beginner-friendly project.
In the video format of the pattern, we we go row by row in a crochet-along demonstration. Due to its length, the pattern is divided into several five parts. Here is a playlist that compiles all of the videos from the tutorial:
Our pdf pattern has even more tips sprinkled throughout, and it comes with a free guide that goes over the main techniques to make Amigurumi dolls. It contains dozens of pictures of the whole process.
All the materials needed are listed below:
Yarn: 4 weight in orange, black and white
Crochet hook: 3.75mm
Safety eyes (optional, you can embroider the eyes instead)
Fiber fill
Yarn needle
Scissors
Pins (optional) to keep parts in place as we sew them on
Row counter (optional)
Stitch marker (optional)
Tumblr media
The original sketch before creating Anika, next to the final version of the doll.
How the pattern came to be:
Tumblr media
Years ago, when I was first teaching myself how to crochet, I decided I wanted to make a little gift for my best friend. When I asked her what type of doll she would like, a fox was one of her top choices. So I put myself to work and designed my first ever crochet pattern. A sweet baby fox in blue pijamas. It was a big project that took many hours to accomplish.
That set the path forward for me. From then on, I created my own designs for more stuffed animals and dolls of different kinds. Bunnies, dogs, monsters, squirrels, birds... However, I just kept coming back to foxes for some reason. And after many iterations, and trials and errors, Anika was born.
Tumblr media
This is a good example of a beginner-friendly pattern that does not take too long to finish, and yet leaves you with a strong sense of accomplishment. Using just three different colors of yarn, simple embroidery techniques and the three easiest crochet stitches, you end up with a timeless adorable and elegant doll.
The pattern and video tutorials also include instructions to make the little black bow tie that Anika is sporting in the pictures. It is very easy and takes almost no time to put this accessory together.
Following the pattern:
I tried to make the instructions as detailed as possible in both formats. However, if you have any questions about them, feel free to contact us through any of our social media channels, or by leaving a comment on our videos.
