Gonna try taking part of artfight this year, so made my boy kind of a ref sheet

You know, I decided I’m mad at Skyra from Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale!

Her sister vanishes, right? Leaving behind a young, now very traumatised child, who was already being pretty much neglected in favour of power, and dedicated to everything to do with his somewhat crazy mom, to the point where he’s willing to go crazy himself just to try and bring back the one person he ever cared about and who cared about him.

Now, Skyra clearly knows about him, as her words to the gang are “ah, him” essentially, rather than “QUATZINE HAD A KID?!” So…

WHY IN THE WORLD DID SHE NOT GO AND CHECK ON HIM?!

Are they all really saying he turned out in anyway shape or form from the way a kid who raised themself with no good role model or mental support would have? He turned out exactly how his situation pushed him to be. He wanted his mom back. It became his one obsession. He had a shadow creature helping to enforce these ideals, and an evil necklace doing who knows what to his head!

But that could have all been avoided!

How? Child supervision! Did literally nobody in his family care enough to look out for him, or even stop by? Was the family estranged? Even if it was, there would have been reports of some kind about the state of the forest, which would mean Quartzine was either doing something bad (which she was) or something may have happened to her (which it did).

In summary: if Skyra wasn’t surprised by his existence, then she’s truly deplorable for not even sending a letter to ask if he was okay. All of the sisters were fallible.

He was a child. Alone. Desperate. Broken. In need of ANYTHING to bring his heart back again. He was alone for… however long elves take to grow up. Likely with mental health deteriorating rapidly.

Evil? Well, to him, back then, it was a necessary one.

He knew he was doing the wrong thing… but was there ever even a second option in his opinion? Why would anyone start caring about him now. The never did before. He was in this fight alone. And he used what he had to make sure his forces were unable to defy him… to leave him.

He treated Roysaln really badly tho, can’t explain that one…

Granted, he shouldn’t have done any of what he did. All I’m saying is he had reasonable reasons. An explanation not justification.

And kids need someone, they always do. Especially after trauma like that. I’d bet anything that he would probably have used to get up some mornings p, tired and sleepy, half awake, and stumbled to the kitchen, saying hi automatically to an empty chair where his mother used to sit. And be crushed all over again, reminding him over and over that she was gone, and he couldn’t save her. He couldn’t save her. He had failed then.

So, naturally… he would make that right. And it was likely “right” in his head, as he had no frame of reference. After all, his mom did the same thing.

This was a vent post, just my rambling. Thanks for reading, and these are just my opinions.

Im done with my lightlark 3 text! I've been very unwell but hope to film soon, bc the goal is to be out by xmas!

In the meantime I've been thinking about how much Lightlark does not like women (who aren't isla). There are three kinds of women in lightlark:

Higher or equal status to Isla, AKA "evil bitches who betray": Cleo, Aurora/Celeste, Lark, Poppy and Terra. That snake who eats babies goes here.

Lesser status to Isla, AKA "worships her as a literal savior": Maren, Ella, Sairsha. Maren and Sairsha also betray her somewhat while still worshipping her, they are also the only Normal People with vague social reform goals (who look to Isla to lead them)

Slightly lower but near status to Isla AKA "Non threatening and efficient support": Enya (lesbian), Astria (Cousin), Wren (old). The oracles go here (trapped in ice to disperse plot mcguffins).

There aren't any other women in lightlark beyond isla's dead mom (willimgly died, to benefit isla) and violet (nothing known beyond hooking up with Aurora’s BF and prompting her evil turn)

I don't have a story for or about them yet... I figure for now they'll just be my little character inserts to play around in other peep's AUs (similarly to how @littlemissartemisia's Misa does)

I do however know their duo dynamic -- they're basically the angel and the devil on your shoulder. Velli is the innocent angel; always ready to support you and be a positive force for goodness! Cronan is the mischievous devil; head full of schemes and plots that will be equal parts adventurous and disastrous. Velli and Cronan are best friends, basically brothers, and always have each other's backs. Think Gumball and Dawrin!

The two characters were entirely inspired by these crochet doodads I got from a craft fair

On Oct. 25, 2023, a little more than two weeks after the Hamas-led terrorist attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, anti-Israel protesters screamed “free Palestine” and pounded on a door at a Cooper Union library, as Jewish students, including two wearing kippahs, hid within. (JNS sought comment from Cooper Union.)

The private school blamed the Jewish students for gathering “in a prominent place in the library where they could be seen by the demonstrators” and for refusing a recommendation to hide “in the windowless upstairs portion of the library out of the demonstrators’ sight,” per the judge’s decision.

Cooper Union also faulted them for not escaping “the library through the back exit,” he added.

“These events took place in 2023—not 1943—and Title VI places responsibility on colleges and universities to protect their Jewish students from harassment, not on those students to hide themselves away in a proverbial attic or attempt to escape from a place they have a right to be,” the judge said.

“In sum, the physically threatening or humiliating conduct that the complaint alleges Jewish students in the library experienced ‘is entirely outside the ambit of the free speech clause’” and “was objectively severe,” the judge wrote.

“The court is dismayed by Cooper Union’s suggestion that the Jewish students should have hidden upstairs or left the building, or that locking the library doors was enough to discharge its obligations under Title VI,” the judge added.

“The judge was not impressed at Cooper Union’s ‘why couldn’t the Jews just hide in the attic?’ argument,” wrote Jason Bedrick, a Heritage Foundation research fellow.

“The audacity of a university to tell Jewish kids to pound sand as they indulge Islamists and their soft terror tactics on campus,” wrote Marina Medvin, a criminal defense lawyer in Arlington, Va. “The judge who got the case was appalled.”
