Hello, please gaze upon my newest commission from @vikkicomics .
I very badly wanted 1950s style housewife!Jopson sitting on Crozier's lap. It's based on my headcanon that Jopson's dream come true is to live as Francis' wife in a loving, very D/s relationship, and that the two of them live in domestic bliss forever after they're rescued.

Summary:
Crozier and Jopson's plans to leave are further disrupted.
It is an oddity, this nest that floats upon the water. The Penguin likens it to the long-snouted seals that slip through water with ease despite their enormous size. Upon further inspection, he discovers that the nest is in no way alive. He pecks it many times. Simply to check. He is satisfied that the nest is not alive, only the man creatures who walk about and inside it.
(He likewise concludes that it would be distressing if the nest were alive, simply on account of the fact that the man creatures lived and worked inside it.)
He has taken to following the man creature who spared his life from that odious villain with the fire-weapon. His rescuer’s voice is charming and melodic, and it is soothing to the Penguin after years of listening to the shrill squawks of his brothers and sisters. He attempts conversation with the man creature — chirping and clucking and clacking as a Penguin like himself knows to do — and the man does not seem to mind. He always answers in turn, his face lit up with jovial fondness.

A different POV for "animal spirits" by attheborder.
nothing is ever gonna be more tragic than Jopson only realising that Crozier truly, deeply loves him when Francis begins to take properly care of him as Thomas’ condition worsens and tells him at least one story of his childhood with the intention of cheering him up/making him laugh (in such stark contrast to Jopson’s own story about his mother’s addiction with a tragic end that he reveals when Crozier is unwell)
but also that sortly afterwards, when Dundy, Little and the rest abandon the sick, Jopson’s hallucination has the Crozier in that scenario completely ignore the real Thomas while speaking to someone else (perhaps even an imaginary Jopson the real one can’t see), degrading him to a spectator to a scene in this grotesque play
and thus, Jopson dies thinking all of Crozier’s affections towards him were nothing but an act, and yet still wanting to cling onto the man’s attention, affection and love

There's a storm gathering out at sea, the calm blue sky giving way to dark clouds, haziness muddying the horizon. Francis watches it, knowing that the gentle breeze against his skin will soon turn to strong winds, full of driving rain and a biting chill. He thinks about those out at sea, caught in the storm, the new hands and old, the feeling it brings to be held at the mercy of the sea and the wind.
He doesn't miss it.
Once, he would have–once he did, lamenting being parted from what felt like a piece of himself. It feels almost foolish now to have longed for something so unforgiving and changeable, so full of raw, merciless power. At his side, Thomas takes a step closer, linking his arm through Francis's, and Francis feels some of the tension leave his body. There is very little he misses about life at sea now, beyond the privacy of his captain's cabin and Thomas's company, and he hasn't lost those.

Watching The Terror: The Show, the Book and the History youtube series and the creator just mentioned that usually, IRL, the second in command (Crozier) would pick out the crew for the expedition. But being that Crozier was Irish, and Fitzjames was John Barrow’s favorite, Fitzjames got to pick out the crew.
Francis only got to choose one crewman for the expedition. And he chose:
