Remembering my favorite moment in Pariah Nexus, when the Deathmark sees the group of terrified human civilians, that they could absolutely murder, and they just go "this shit is not in my contract" and immediately walk away. Amazing. Nobody is out there doing it like them. Taking their union non-child-killing break. Less excited about killing imperial citizens than the actual imperium. I love you, Deathmark, you had like 15 minutes of screentime and I care about you more than any Primarch.

Behold a Necron Cryptothrall (aka Murder Bucket)
Tumblr media
She squints at the picture.
"Not a bad design. Maybe I could make one."
"No."
Spectre looks at Kiara. "Bu—"
Kiara shoves a finger in her face with a stern look. "No."
Spectre deflates, shoulderd and head falling. "Okay..."
( @ask-elliot-doorman-fam hope I got Kiara right with her assertiveness.)

Warhammer OC Poll Part 5 - Necron Unit
Part 1 - Setting
Part 2 - Imperium, Chaos, Xeno
Part 3 - Race
Part 4 - Subrace
Unexpectedly, the winner of the best eldar race poll was the necrons. As such, I have decided that I will make both an eldar and necron OC. This poll will be on the necron the eldar will be available here.
Spooky scary skeletons sends shivers down your spine. Pun.

I remember when I started this project of getting my Necrons up to date for 10e, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't rack up a brand new Pile of Shame. But between my old models, a few new models, and having the 3D printer working overtime, I'm quickly getting one anyway.
Anyway, I have the requisite 3 Skorpekh destroyers and a Plasmacyte, which makes the last models I needed to play Combat Patrol. I also printed 4 Cryptothralls because my Lychguard and possibly my Warriors are going to need Murder Buckets to keep them safe.

Nice commander you've got there. Would be a shame if someone were to... Snipe them...
Jokes aside the Deathmarks are supposedly much better unit in 10th compared to how they fared in 9th. I had 3 Immortals sprues in total and assmebled 1 as Immortals so I went with Deathmarks for the 2nd one.
I'll build the 3rd as Immortals again but probably give them the other weapon option.
The kit is nice and easy simple but suffers from some issues.
1st - you can probably see it on this photo. The shoulder plates have noticeable gap in them. With Immortals I suspected that it was my fault as I scraped off the sprue connecting bit quite hard - I thought I might have got a bit too much off. This time I was careful and only gently cut the remaining bit and sanded it lightly... There's still a gap. Well... I'll fix it with putty in a few days.
2nd - the arms. By the Emperor. I don't remember having such issues with the Immortals but Deathmarks had some ridiculous arm placement on those minis. The gun barrel is long and the arms are short. The right arm is molded onto the gun and you stick it under the shoulder plate. The left arm is separate and you stick it under it's shoulder blade while connecting it to the molded hand under the gun barrel... Which is easier to say than do. It's hard to reach, you need to really twist the gun and the arm around to find the right angle - meaning that you need to have three separate bits covered in glue and put them together all at once... And hold it like that for some 20-30 seconds...
Okay... My goal to finish all the Necron minis before the year's end is closer to finish.
All that's left is the:
Remaining 5 Immortals (Not started - I'll probably do those next as it's just a standard build).
Indomitus Overlord (Not started - I might do slight repose but nothing major).
Indomitus plasmancer (Not started - IDK what to do with this guy yet)
Two cryptothralls (I'll switch around parts between them to get some variety)
Three more Skorpekh Destroyers (I have them cut and ready to assemble - I'll see if I have the patience for another repose of those).
Skorpekh Lord (Half Assembled - I need to find a way to bend his cables to fit reposed arms)
Canoptek Reanimator (Half assembled - the same issue as with the Skorpekh Lord + need to do a nice scenic base)
Put on the remaining magnets on Ghost Ark, Canoptek Wraiths and Tomb Blades. Otherwise those models are finished.
I've got Doomstalker on the way to the local store. I might run into the same issues as with reanimator when trying to repose it. We'll see.

Hi! Wanted to ask you about Necron's oculars. Why some of them have only one, and others have two (or even more)? Do they talk about it somewhere in the lore? Usually crypteks and deathmarks have only one, if I remember correctly, right? (Also sorry for resub, fat fingers lmao)
I don't know if there's an official lore explanation! (if there is, someone chime in) But you are right, it's generally crypteks, their cryptothralls, and deathmarks that have the monocular (deathmarks can have sets of little eyes too, but that single main ocular is the most common design). With multiple eyes, I believe it is only destroyers and some deathmarks that have that. That one is probably because destroyers have modified their bodies solely to terrorize and kill, and multiple eyes certainly fits that brief. Some deathmarks might have followed suit. Better aim, surveying the battlefield, etc.
Now I do have a headcanon about the monocular for crypteks/deathmarks. Both are a class in necron society that is useful to the nobility but not part of the nobility. Every empire needs scientists and assassins! But you don't want them getting uppity. A single, alien eye permanently marks them as other. Even though they are by necessity just as sentient as a lord (a braindead cryptek is not super helpful) it will always be obvious what their status is (and more importantly what it isn't).
Boom, brought a simple, unrelated question back around to class dynamics! This is my superpower.
