My head always spins some song in my head, or some tiktok edit remix. I dunno why, but I just can't have my head without any thought for a single minute. Music is always there.

That's assuming that Ray shares your taste in music. And that he's the kind of person who likes listening to music all the time. And honestly, I don't think he is.

Like, I cannot stand not listening to music; if I had to be alone with my own thought for five minutes, I'd fucking kill myself. But I am literally the only person in my family like that. My parents both always need(ed) the TV on for background noise, but didn't want music for the same reason (my mom will have the TV on while she's listening to music).

I think Ray is that "TV for background noise" kind of person. Someone who doesn't have a favorite kind of music isn't listening to music for fun ("whatever's on the radio" probably means "whatever's on OTHER people's radios"). Constantly playing music in your head is probably a good way to deter him from trying to eavesdrop on your thoughts (especially if it's the same song over and over and over and over and over)
