Writing Tip #6
What what you want to read.
Want to write fanfic? Spend your free time on Ao3. Aspiring historical fiction novelist? Read them. Trying to write YA novels? Meet my friends John Green and Rainbow Rowell and Nicola Yoon and Sarah Dessen.
It gives you a feel for the style you’re going for and makes it feel more natural and familiar when you’re writing.

HE WAS DEAD BUT NOW HE IS ALIVE! AND NOW WE CAN BE ALIVE TOO! THE HOPE IS REAL! IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE BUT IT IS! LOVE HAS WON AND DEATH COULD NOT HOLD HIM BACK (IN YOUR FACE SATAN!)! YEAH EASTER IS ABOUT NEW LIFE ALRIGHT BUT NO BUNNY* WILL EVER HAVE ANYTHING ON JESUS CHRIST!

Always post the rules.  Answer the questions the person who tagged you. Tag 11 people Tell them you tagged them
1. If you were genderbent, what would your name be?
If it had to sound like my original name then Karl
Otherwise I think it would be Rory.
2. One event that changed your life (good or bad)?
It was more of a gradual change, but joining tumblr changed my life. I feel much more educated about issues that matter now, even if I do have to be careful to research some things before making judgements.
3. Favorite book?
I'm reading Jane Eyre and enjoying it immensely. Out of the books I've finished, The Color Purple is up there.
4. Favorite movie?
Hmmm. Brave, I think. It's a tough call though.
5. Least favorite thing?
GETTING THINGS STUCK BETWEEN YOUR TEETH MORE LIKE ADFEFISEDHFGIFRFVAFNKFHIBGVIEFUN

Brussels sprouts are awesome and Twinkies taste like ass.
7. One thing you want to change about your life?
I want to overcome my anxiety and also have my shit together.

I'd like to think my strong morals are a good quality of mine.
9. Any guilty pleasures?
Cartoons aimed at elementary-schoolers. Can't be tamed.
10. Who’s your senpai?
I don't really have a senpai right now, but wecansexy comes close, I guess!

Getting myself into a situation where I can't fix it.

Writing Tip #4
Inspiration can be anywhere.
I’ve written full-length stories based on off-hand comments people make. Drabbles inspired by colors. A whole series worth of things revolving around my favorite trope. If you like it, write it.

5.14.12 I think that even as a child you must have been a lady- A watch wearing woman counting heads of stuffed animals and asking the dog if he wiped his muddy paws off on the welcome mat. I imagine you taking all of your little friends under your wing like a mother hen, nurturing and loving them as if they were stray animals. Everything about you is absolutely loved and everything you do is admirable, but sometimes I wonder if there's a darling little girl deep inside you that's wanting to be heard.

Writing Tip #3
Write in pen. When you write things by hand, especially narratives, use ink. It feels more permanent and gives your words more weight. It also helps with editing. Scratch things out if you need to, but not so dark that you can’t see the original idea; you might want it again later.

Writing Tip #2
Get an editor friend.
First drafts? SUCK. They’re usually awkward and raggedy. Here’s how to fix it: get a friend. Someone you trust to give you a bit of tough love on the scraggly edges, and who’s on board to hype up the solid parts. Let that person read your first drafts and offer some advice about smoothing down the rough parts.
You sure don’t have to apply that advice, but listen to it. And then sit on it for 24 hours and listen to it again (because sometimes things sound better in the light of day) and think about it, because odds are that they might just be onto something.
