The only way your trajectory to Singapore could get worse was if the plane exploded mid-air like in Final Destination. 

It was humiliating; you were supposed to arrive Friday, and by the time you took your last connection, the estimated time of arrival was for early Saturday morning. The bags under your eyes were bigger than the ones sitting in the compartment underneath the passengers, you went from lack of sleep due to excitement to hibernation, ignoring the flight attendants who attempted to wake you up. 

You only rose from your slumber while the destination edged nearer, to freshen up and half heartedly have breakfast. You did your best to look presentable, flushing away in the sink the despair from both the missed connections and long customs lines. This involved changing out of the designated airport lounging outfit into something more fresh, having prepared the outfit in your personal bag, feeling the humidity already crawl up your bones even when you hadn’t descended. 

After his excellent work in Baku, Franco was eager to finally fly you out to see him race live in the top category, only having experienced him in the feeder series. The nerves ate you up, walking the paddock with your boyfriend was something you had fantasized about, but never expected to become a reality even when he reached Formula One. 

But there you were, praying for your bag to come out and not have gotten lost, leaving a big sigh of relief upon spotting it, untampered with. It wasn’t that heavy, and it was that moment of strength that took over you whenever your boyfriend wasn’t there to carry everything. 

As soon as your roaming plan kicked in you contacted him, letting him know you were there. He told you he hired a chauffeur to pick you up and take you back to the hotel, excusing himself due to the need to rest before paddock duties, which you completely understood.

“Buen día princesa hermosa, feliz de verte.” He blatantly ignored your claims, leaning in to smooch your cheek, hanging the bouquet of sunflowers with fresh eucalyptus mixed in for some greenery. You didn’t know if your ears felt warm because of the high temperatures or the flattery. 

“¿Cómo es que iba la canción? Ella sabía que el sabía que sabía que algún día pasaría—“ You interrupted his annoying high pitched sing along while you took a picture of the plants, heart thumping in your chest. 

“No, no. Que él sabía que algún día pasaría a buscarla—“ Now it was his turn for him to interrupt you, putting a finger over your lips. 

“—con sus flores amarillas!” Though you would regularly be offended at him interrupting you, you almost giggled at his antics. 

You stood there for a second, unable to tear your eyes away from the warm toned bouquet, still in the best type of disbelief. You didn’t notice it was you who he couldn’t tear his eyes away from. 

The second you told him you were asking for all the permissions to get a vacation sorted to see him race, he knew he had to make it special. And by your reaction, he knew it was a mission accomplished. Besides, it warmed his heart to see you so happy. 

“Let’s go get you freshen up and head to the paddock, if I’m any later than the hour I have left, they’re going to replace me.” Now the idea didn’t terrify you just as much, you were too busy gawking about the surprise to your mom and your friends, following him to the car knowing you had no time to lose nor spare. 

He took both your weekender and the medium sized suitcase, letting you to only carry the weight of having the best boyfriend ever.

Snuggling with Zevlor is an all day affair. Once he's attached, he's not letting go, and no it isn't because his joints are settling and he doesn't want to hear them click as he gets up.

It's because he's wrapped up, nice and snug and warm with the person he cares about. Even if the blankets and duvets get kicked off, they're still both tangled up and snuggled together until one of them gets a little hungry and they decide to get breakfast.

Breakfast can be elaborate, Zevlor cooking an entire spread with his companion's arms wrapped around him, making it a clumsy and messy affair that he loves regardless. Or it can be something easy, just a bowl of cereal or a cup of coffee and pastries. Zevlor doesn't even have to be asked, he has his partner's favorite fruit on the table and peeled (if applicable of course) and even though there's enough chairs they find themselves somehow settled into the same one or at least their chairs are right next to each other so that hands unoccupied with food and drink can roam.

After breakfast maybe they head outside, because it's a cool morning and the heat from their snuggling still lingers. Drinks in hand they sit in the dewy morning air and lean into each other, Zevlor's tail wrapped around his partner's waist just snug enough to be a reminder that he's there. They sit there for a couple hours, leaning into each other, forgetting their drinks, one ends up in the other's lap, playing with each other's hair until the sun crests and becomes a little too warm.

Retreating inside to lazily kiss and laugh their way into the living room, taking up a book each and quietly reading. One or the other abandons their book to snuggle up again, maybe (surprisingly) Zevlor does, burying his nose into his partner's hair or neck while they read and run their fingers through his hair, along his horns, reading aloud after a while just to keep the closeness going. Maybe reading gets abandoned after a while in favorite of kissing, soft slow little pecks with long, silent breaks in between where they just breathe the same air. Zevlor eventually starts to lavish his partner is slow, faint kisses all over their face, down their neck, every feature he can reach. Their hands stay intertwined, his tail stays wrapped around some part of them, and they both stay completely enamored with the other.

By the time afternoon hits, they've managed to make it out of the house to a cafe or restaurant. Lunch is a little more reserved in the cuddling department, but not for lack of trying. They find a booth so they can stay close, but it's never close enough, and while some people might like being the center of attention, Zevlor isn't one of those people, so it's a subtle affair, hands held under the table, quick kisses every now and again just to be cheeky. Lunch is a sickeningly sweet display of feeding one another and making other customers mildly uncomfortable with how obsessed with each other they are.

The walk home is spent talking about where they might go the next day they have time together, pointing out places they want to visit. By the time they get home it's late, so they grab a snack, take the quickest showers just to freshen up (separately, otherwise they might be in for something other than cuddling), and then right back where they started, in bed together, wrapped up and giggling, murmuring sweet nothings and sharing lingering touches until each of them drifts off, falling into blissful sleep where they dream of staying like this forever.

Can you write a piece where geto is really irritated and annoyed so he goes to the nearest book store to actually relax and find some quiet time. He isn't interested in reading that much so he is just smoking there but he actually finds a book's cover interesting hence he grabs it but it turns out it's grabbed by the reader who's also not having a good day. They both start arguing over who grabbed it first and words are said. But they come on a common ground that reader will take the book for herself but geto will come to her house to read it if he wants. Soon they start visiting each other for that book series and like there is love brewing🥹

Heaven Looks Like A Bookshop…

I definitely wanna come back to this and write it in length! May I offer a drabble/snippet while I stew on it?

Geto’s temper wasn’t the greatest but he was perfectly capable of not losing himself- usually. But god, there was so much pressure on him and so many people breathing down his neck. He couldn’t relax. It’s been days since he had a chance to truly breathe.

The bookshop is small, it smells like comfort and it’s a bubble away from reality he refuses to pop. He likes to come here and sit between the shelves with a book. The act of stepping away from his life for a break was one he felt guilty for at first, but there were so many books to distract him from that anyway.

Geto knew he wasn’t the only one who considered the bookshop a reprieve. In the cushiony armchair he claimed as his was the scent of perfume. There were a few books left beside it on the floor, and he didn’t understand why he thought it was cute of someone to be disorganized but he was better off not dissecting.

Over all the few customers that came and went never bothered him. The owner of the shop liked his hidden company (and the not so secret tips he’d leave to show his appreciation). No one acknowledged him more than a head tilt or a half smile, no one said anything when he went from reading every day to passing out in the armchair -book open on his lap- after being lulled to sleep by the perfume he looked forward to surrounding himself in.

He tried to read, he did, but it was so soothing to be engulfed by the fragrance and it was almost impossible for him to relax outside of the damn bookshop and- god he didn’t even know you existed until he complimented the new air freshener. The book keeper had kindly informed him that the “air freshener” came from a college student from the nearby school. She liked to sit in the chair he claimed and either study or let the world drift away while enjoying their mutual haven.

Man, he’d really love to meet you, put a face to the person that unknowingly brought him ease when others hadn’t been able to. So, for now, he’ll bide his time and bask in the warmth of his haven until the universe lines itself up with the two of you in mind.

My spouse and I were stalked at the store, today.

I won't go into much detail because it's not necessary, but my spouse's reaction compared to mine made me realize that some people literally have no idea what to do if this is ever happening. They were scared and visibly distressed, which is perfectly understandable, but other than running away.. their first instinct was to confront the man. Unless this is absolutely necessary, please do NOT do that. Here's what you should do instead:

Remain calm. Try not to tip them off to the fact that you know that you are being followed, and carefully collect identifying details about the person stalking you. In our case, this was a man about six feet tall wearing a basspro hat backwards, and some kind of bright blue, patriotic shirt with an American flag. When he took his hat off, he had very patchy light hair.

Next, go immediately to an area with cameras. In this case, we were in Walmart and so I went to the pharmacy area where cameras typically are. There's usually cameras there, by cosmetics, the alcohol aisle, etc. Stop nearby it so you can look at the screen (or reflection if it's the disk kind). This accomplishes two things: Getting both you and the stalker on camera, and being able to confirm that you are indeed being followed.

After that, go to the nearest source of help. This can be a nearby worker, the pharmacy counter, the automotive center, or the customer service desk. We went to the front of the store and I told a greeter, since he is watching the door, and my spouse told a team lead at the service desk. The team lead saw this man acting suspicious and his description for himself, which is very helpful. It got brought to a manager, and then the AP team. They are now going to check the cameras, confirm the description, and collect evidence.

Walmart cameras have facial recognition software, so they can track the man's movements and behaviors as well as see if he's banned, done this before, etc. If necessary, they will bring it to law enforcement.

You can always ask a worker to escort you out to your car and help you load it. Once you are inside your vehicle, do not linger. Leave immediately. If you need to stop for any reason, do so at a well-lit, crowded spot like a busy gas station. Be aware of your surroundings, and if you don't feel safe, try to contact a friend to stay with or escort you.

The bottom line here is, collect evidence and tell customer service workers whatever you can without confronting the stalker. You want to catch this man in the act, not give him a reason to flee. He may just return and do this creepy behavior to a different person if he isn't caught on camera or if workers aren't made aware of his presence and behavior.

Stay safe out there, guys. Please. Think of yourself and the others around you, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you see something, SAY something. My spouse and I only noticed because of a kind lady informing us that we were being followed and to be careful. It's better to be wrong than to let someone get stalked through the store. Hopefully this will help even one person be calm if this ever happens to them.

On a side note, if you DO have to confront the stalker, don't be afraid to get loud. Use your environment for you, if any violence occurs for any reason. Cans of soup, things within range that can be thrown, even air fresheners or cleaning chemicals that you can squirt in the assailant's face can be helpful in defending yourself. Back away and get help quickly once it is safe to disengage.

Just remember, stay calm, and everything will fall into place.

V and K share a room which can be very hard for both of them they don’t exactly get along they just tolerate the existence of each other they do fight physically which can be rough for K since he’s very physically weak and V is mostly edged on by pride and the chance of victory (she usually ends up winning) except for that one time…. So bloody…

Party Art Community recently moved and changed names. It looked very cute and cheerful from the outside. The party and stationery store is Latina-owned & operated. The merchandise seems geared towards millennials.

The store is full of cute things, including stickers, gift wrap, greeting cards, party supplies, pens, pencils, notebooks, tote bags, snacks, candles, keychains, air fresheners, trays, crochet animals and food with faces, washi tape, pins, jewelry, personal care, etc.

Things that caught my eye: scratch & sniff Mexican food stickers and crochet spam musubi

The merchandise is on shelves along the wall with big communal tables in the center (where they have workshops). They also have balloons (including installation) and custom party favors. You can check out what they have on their website and online store.

Destinytober - Neon Metropolis

October 10, 2947, 19:17; The Last City, Earth

Azra has trouble finding the restaurant.  It’s on a densely-packed street where the shop fronts and stalls spill over onto the pavement.  Everywhere are neon-lit signs, flashing messages in English and Chinese and Portuguese. Azra has managed to get along with just her English and Portuguese all these years (even if her dialect seems to be some lost European variant rather than the Brazilian Portuguese spoke in the City). The Chinese characters were gibberish to her without her Ghost’s translation.

People’s faces are bathed in unnatural shades of red and green and pink, light spilling out of shops like sunbeams on the street.  The shadows in contrast are impossible to see through.  The air is heavy with the smells of cooking spices and perfumes- and still, after all these months, the tang of burning plastic and soot.  Some parts of the City have rebounded fast after the Red War, but the scars still haven’t had time to heal fully.

Azra only finds the place because of the neon sign: a two-frame animation of a wok flipping some vegetables that flickers back and forth.  She’s fifteen minutes late by the time she pushes through the crowd and slides into the empty seat near Suraya Hawthorne.  “Sorry, I got lost,” she apologizes.

“You.  Getting lost.”  Hawthorne’s voice is thick with a teasing disbelief.  She looks well enough, clean and loose-limbed with ease.  Azra’s freshened up as best she can, but it’s just not worth the effort to scrub every speck of dirt from her gear when tomorrow she’ll be out in the thick of it again.  She hopes she’s not too scrappy-looking for company.

“Not all of the maps are up-to-date with all the reconstruction and this isn’t even technically a building,” she complains.  The restaurant is listed on the Net, but without an address.  Azra now realized that’s because it doesn’t have an address. It’s a stand squeezed in the alleyway between two other shops, just an L-shaped bar and a kitchen of sorts shoved underneath an awning.

The patron of the stand bustles over to her and Azra gives a polite (if apprehensive) nod.  She never knows what to do at places like this.  There’s nothing posted on the walls.  Is there a physical menu?  Should she have looked it up ahead of time?  Is this one of those places where they only have like two things?

Before she can open her mouth, Hawthorne leans over the bar and starts chatting up the server.  It’s astonishing how quickly the businesswoman morphs from the stern, bustling figure into a smiling and conversational host. They talk back and forth for a while, about the rebuilding, about the difficulties of getting good cuts of pork, how they’re out of fresh parsley and have to use dried until the grocer can be properly bribed.  The woman eventually hustles away again, promising to set them up with ‘the good stuff’ without bothering to take their order.

Hawthorne looks back at Azra and almost laughs.  “Look at you, all tongue-tied.  Really out of your element here, aren’t you?”

No kidding.  This street seems built for sensory overload, all flashing lights and people shouting back and forth at each other.  The cold white LED lights from the stand are already starting to give Azra a headache.  “I’ve never been much of a City person,” she demurs.

“Do you even talk to normal people?”  Hawthorne’s tone is friendly.  Azra still blinks for a second, taken aback.  

She’s probably not meaning to be insulting, Spark silently comments.  Not her fault the word ‘normal’ leaves an unpleasant taste in Azra’s mouth.

“Yes,” Azra says, feeling defensive now.  “I’ve just never been good with small talk.”

“Devrim seems to beg to differ,” Hawthorne says.

“Tea talk is different,” Azra insists.

She thinks Hawthorne agrees with that point, at least.  There’s no more time for conversation- the food arrives.  The server takes another minute to trade more words with Suraya before the arrival of another customer sends her hurrying off.

Azra has already begun the process of shoveling food into her mouth.  Truthful to Hawthorne’s recommendation, the stir-fry is very good.  There is some kind of peanut sauce on it- with the garlic it mixes to make a broad savory base.  The peas and carrots add a nice sweetness.

Hawthorne leans on her elbow, taking it in.  It seems there is no end to her amusement this evening.  “Do you always eat like someone’s about to take your food away from you?”

“It’s good,” Azra says, muffled by a mouthful of rice.  She takes time to chew and swallow before she speaks again.  “These days I’m lucky if I even have time to eat, much less something hot and fresh.”

“Glad I decided to invite you out, I guess,” Hawthorne comments.  She takes Azra’s cue and begins eating her own stir-fry, albeit at a much more reasonable pace.  “You know, for someone who proclaims a dislike of the City, you sure do seem a fan of the benefits of civilization.”

“I can enjoy it in short doses,” Azra says.  Especially if she can find some time to cool down, take a walk somewhere more open or find a quiet room to clean her weapons.  Right now she’s running high on adrenaline and endorphins.  It’ll only last so long before she crashes.  

Spark interjects to explain. “At the beginning of the Red War, we spent about five days here.  That broke the record by about two and a half days.”

“Really,” Hawthorne says, sounding genuinely surprised.  “You’ve never stayed in the City for three days straight.  In your entire life?”

“There’s not a whole lot to do here,” Azra says.

“What do you mean,” Hawthorne complains.  “People don’t just sit around when they’re not working.  There’s tons of stuff to do!”

“Like what?” Azra challenges.

“Eating?” Hawthorne says, gesturing to Azra’s bowl.  “Don’t tell me you’re making City-class Ramen in a pot over your campfire.”

“Maybe once or twice,” Azra says.  Cayde had made a few good efforts, but he wasn’t much of a cook and Tevis had refused to help on moral grounds.  “Besides, eating happens at maximum like three times a day.  Not exactly a big timesink.”

“Not when you inhale it like that,” Hawthorne comments.  “What about shopping?”

“I don’t need more stuff,” Azra says. “What would I even do with it?”

“Do you even own anything to wear that isn’t armor?”

“You don’t have a dress or a suit, do you,” Andal asked, sounding vaguely disappointed.

“Andal,” Shiro chided. “She’s three, and she’s not City-bound. I would bet fifty Glimmer that she doesn’t even own clothes.”

“I own clothes,” Azra said defensively.  What, did he think she wore her gear on top of bare skin?

“Base layers don’t count,” Shiro teased.  He turned back to Andal.  “Think. Have you literally ever seen her not wearing armor?”

Andal looked down at his own clothing, then back up at Azra (who, to her own chagrin, was dressed in her Strike gear).  “Azra,” he said, sounding aghast.  “What do you sleep in?”

“Uh,” Azra said. “This?”  What else would she wear?

“I used to,” Azra says. “Still, it doesn’t take three days to go clothes shopping.”

Hawthorne is getting too invested in this debate.  “Go to a museum.  Or the movies.”  She pauses, then only semi-jokingly asks, “You have seen a movie before, yes?”

“You don’t need to be in the City to see a movie,” Azra shoots back.

“Like, not streamed on a tablet.  On a big screen.”

“Yes,” Azra says. “Get a projector set up, bunch of like, hammocks-“

“In a theater,” Hawthorne says.  “You’ve never been to a movie theater?   Not in ninety years?”

“Eighty-nine,” Azra corrects automatically.  “And fifty-seven of those don’t count.”

“We need to go,” Hawthorne says.  “Right now.” She sets down her chopsticks like she’s about to get up and walk off.

Azra is appalled. “What gives you the idea that you can stick me inside a dark room packed with other people and blast loud music at me and I’ll have a good time?”

Hawthorne sits thinking for a heartbeat.  “Huh. I guess I never thought of it like that before.”  She picks up her chopsticks again and pokes at a chunk of carrot.

Azra shoves another bite of food in her mouth.

“Back when I was a kid, it was always so exciting,” Hawthorne says.  “I’d go as often as I could.  It was a chance to pretend I was somewhere else, you know?  Imagine a life beyond the City.  Marc would take me out sometimes.”

Azra is reminded that the same things can mean wildly different things to different people. Like these neon lights- they make Azra vaguely nervous, a little uncomfortable, but surely to some of the people bustling by they are exciting?  Beautiful, even?

“What kind of movies do they show here?” Spark asked.  He was good at that, picking up conversation when Azra let it hang.

Hawthorne leaned back a bit, reminiscing.  “Oh, everything, but I always liked action.  Different theaters have different selections of the classics.  I must have watched Fistfull of Dollars a hundred times.”

Azra snorted.  “Oh, I remember that one.  Cayde went around drawling and squinting at everyone for a whole week afterwards.”

Hawthorne’s eyebrows twitch as she seems to conjure a funny mental image.

It seems natural for Azra to keep talking.  She does. “We’d get a projector and some speakers- and a bunch of hammocks, like I said, or a pile of pillows, or the futon.” Azra can picture it like it was yesterday- the dampness of settling dew, the night air, the fireflies.  “Tevis would always fall asleep like fifteen minutes after the movie started, no matter what it was.  And Shiro and Andal would get in these ridiculous arguments until Andal’s Ghost would pause the movie and make them shut up.”

“What was your favorite?” Hawthorne asks.

Azra thinks.  “It wasn’t a movie, exactly,” she says.  “But there was these, like, documentaries. Master Vanna said they were about Earth’s biosphere before the Golden Age.  Whenever something really cool came up I’d make a note and try to track it down later and see if it was still there.”  Sometimes they weren’t, but more often than not they were.  “Did you know in Old Japan that there’s these giant salamanders?  They get like six feet long.”

“Sounds amazing,” Hawthorne says.

“You wanna go?” Azra asks impulsively.  “Right now?” It’s daytime in Japan.

“I’ve never been east of the Cosmodrome,” Hawthorne comments.  “Is it safe?”

“The Fallen don’t care about anything outside the major cities,” Azra says.  “Even then, it’s broad daylight.  They’re not going to be poking around outdoors.”

Hawthorne still seems to hesitate for a second.  Then she puts down her chopsticks.  “To hell with it,” she decided.  “Let’s go. Right now.”

“At least finish your food first,” Azra says, aghast.
