I will be laying on my death bed, fully divorced from reality with dementia, and the only thing I will remember is how to play A Favor House Atlantic.

Did you hear the new Coheed and Cambria singles? They just released a music video for The Joke a couple of days ago
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The Joke" has grown on me a little. It probably doesn't help that the first few times I listened was from a radio stream at absolute dogshit quality. I think the fucked up weird descending guitar riff thing that's going on could have been fine like once maybe twice but it's grating at this level. That said, I think this song has some of the wildest bass parts we've ever seen out of Zach Cooper.
Idk it's a weird, weird song. I hope it doesn't indicate what the overall sonic profile of Vaxis 3 is going to be - I liked Vaxis 2 A LOT and I liked some of the experimentation they did there but I don't want to keep leaning really hard into heavy synth stuff indefinitely and I kinda want Claudio to get over the autotune phase. Give me more weird 8 minute prog songs with the most inexplicably catchy hooks anyone's ever heard.
"Deranged" is the best it's ever sounded, though. Iirc Claudio rerecorded some of the vocal parts, overall the sound is much cleaner than the original version. It very much DOES make me wanna go listen to YOTBR every time I hear it though.

album ask: good apollo blah blah iv
so there's two of these but i know that you meant good apollo i'm burning star iv: vol 1: from fear through the eyes of madness so i'll answer for that
The best song on the album: if i could cheat i'd pick the whole willing well suite bc it's PEAK progheed bullshit but. okay. "the willing well ii: from fear through the eyes of madness" - it's so proggy, it's so insane, it rules so hard. at once deeply weird and SUPER melodic. of course the riffz are there (it's coheed) but this is such a rhythm section showcase imo - mic todd with those bouncy bass lines and eppard holding it down for seven and a half minutes without letting up even ONE TIME. absolute ripper. My favorite song on the album: okay, so, not picking any WW songs - "ten speed (of god's blood and burial)" is my favorite and i'm annoyed bc it is ostensibly one of their dumbest fucking songs. it's literally a song about the meta version of claudio (not to be confused with the distinct, fictional version of claudio) is arguing with an evil bicycle. unfortunately it's got riffs for days My least favorite song on the album: "always & never" it does feel distinctly like cheating to pick this song but it's the truth. one of my most reliably skipped coheed tracks. The most overrated song on the album: "welcome home" again it's not BAD (it was actually the song that introduced me to coheed) but it's just like their most popular song and the fact is it's NOT their best song which, by definition, makes it overrated Most underrated: i mean all the songs on this album are pretty beloved by fans. but idk. "the lying lies & dirty secrets of miss erica court" i think it gets kind of lost in the shuffle sitting between "the suffering" and the WW suite The banger of all bangers: "The Suffering" LISTEN WELL WILL YOU MARRY ME??? AND ARE YOU WELL IN THE SUFFERING? it goes so fucking hard! it's one of the catchiest choruses they've ever written! jaunty little pop tune! but also a certified ripper! the fun little piano bit! HEY HEY! IF IT WAS UP TO MEEEEEE I WOULD HAVE FIGURED YOU OUT WAY BEFORE THE YEAR CLOCKED OUT WELL I HOPE YOU'RE WATINGGGG Rate from 0-10: 0/10 no one listen to coheed

It's been like 4 or 5 years since my last Coheed show and I don't think I'm handling it well. NWFT Neverender in like two weeks. Can feel myself getting sicker, slipping away. If I start to seem too out of control, one of you might have to put me down. I'd prefer if Zach does the job, I know he'd make it clean, but in an emergency I need whoever's around to not hesitate. Promise me. You have to promise.

Listening to The Color Before the Sun for the first time in ages. Still not my favorite, but there's a couple bangers. I genuinely think the songs Claudio writes for his son are really good and sweet. Also the transition from "Young Love" into "You Got Spirit, Kid" is pretty much perfect

Since we are mentally preparing for the 10 year tour, No World For Tomorrow.
The best song on the album: "Mother Superior" - literally a perfect song, one of the best they've ever written. i mean i can't help but wonder what it feels like being josh eppard back in the band and getting put on blast like that but as a listener, as (regrettably) a fan, it fuckin owns. the ballads don't ALWAYS work for me but this one is so legitimately emotional and beautiful, i love the strings, i think the vocal performance is great. maybe bc it's so personal, it's some of their best lyrical work of all time too. "when you're sick to the stomach just pull out the knife" goes harder than any other line in the whole discog My favorite song on the album: okay actually it's mother superior but in the interest in talking about a different song "the end complete iii: the end complete" - like CLEARLY i love the stupid progheed bullshit the most - the rock opera feel really works for me here, unfortunately :( i love the different "characters" i love the stupid shredding, i love the callbacks to other songs (esp looping back to mother superior's "run rabbit run") it's just a huge song and i think even more than "the road and the damned" or "on the brink" it feels like the end of the album for me in a good way. if that makes sense. My least favorite song on the album: okay actually it might be "justice in murder" bc there's something kind of annoying about it but i'm gonna take the opportunity to talk about "the end complete v: on the brink" bc i think it's just. gilding the lily a little too much, y'know??? like the bluesy stuff is cool, but tbh "the end complete" + "the road and the damned" together make a way better ending for the record and brink feels a little tacked on all told :/ The most overrated song on the album: overrated by us only "the end complete ii: radio bye bye" tbh this is a protest pick bc i'm never not gonna rage and wail and gnash my teeth over the ratio of outright stupidity to goes fucking hardism. UH OH IT'S THE CURSE OF THE RADIO BYE BYE <- i don't deserve rights Most underrated: "The Road and the Damned" - AGAIN. STRINGS. The banger of all bangers: "the end complete: ii: radio bye bye" WE'LL LEAVE IT ON THE RADIO WE'RE CALLING ALL COWARDS NOW BOY THAT YOU MADE IT SO WHY ARE YOU AFRAID OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE Rate from 0-10: 0/10 no one listen to coheed

iksse3 for album asks?
The best song on the album: - "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" it's huge, it's such a coheed-ass thing to do to start an album with this epic 8 minute track. it sets the mood for the rest of the album - dark and dramatic but still relentlessly hook-y. and god it's a live staple for a reason, nothing in the world tops the feeling of being in a huge crowd of people all doing the OOOH-OOHHHHs at the same time.
youtube
My favorite song on the album: "Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow)" - SCIENCE SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE... A FIVE MINUTE POP PUNK BANGER... it's fun it's fast it's got RIFFS it's got an unbeatable sing-along bridge/outro. i'm never not stoked to listen to this song My least favorite song on the album: "The Camper Velourium III: Al the Killer" there are many, many gross coheed songs but this is the worst one on IKSSE3. a thousand deaths for claudio sanchez. "die white girls" is truly the most clownish shit in the entire discog and that's saying something because they excel at clown shit. augh. The most overrated song on the album: "Blood Red Summer" not a bad song at all, i DO like it, but it's solid middle of the pack imo in an album of true hardcore bangers Most underrated: "The Light & the Glass" literally perfect song, i love it so much. very dark, very dramatic, very emotional - a great bookend to the title track. amazing buildup to the end "your father's dead, he passed in his sleep" should not be so singalong-able. and yet. The banger of all bangers: "The Camper Velourium I: Faint of Hearts" this song is also gross but, critically, it has insane 70s cock rock riffs. deeply sleazy but unfortunately in a way i can't help but like Rate from 0-10: 0/10 no one listen to coheed
