so there's two of these but i know that you meant good apollo i'm burning star iv: vol 1: from fear through the eyes of madness so i'll answer for that

The best song on the album: if i could cheat i'd pick the whole willing well suite bc it's PEAK progheed bullshit but. okay. "the willing well ii: from fear through the eyes of madness" - it's so proggy, it's so insane, it rules so hard. at once deeply weird and SUPER melodic. of course the riffz are there (it's coheed) but this is such a rhythm section showcase imo - mic todd with those bouncy bass lines and eppard holding it down for seven and a half minutes without letting up even ONE TIME. absolute ripper. My favorite song on the album: okay, so, not picking any WW songs - "ten speed (of god's blood and burial)" is my favorite and i'm annoyed bc it is ostensibly one of their dumbest fucking songs. it's literally a song about the meta version of claudio (not to be confused with the distinct, fictional version of claudio) is arguing with an evil bicycle. unfortunately it's got riffs for days My least favorite song on the album: "always & never" it does feel distinctly like cheating to pick this song but it's the truth. one of my most reliably skipped coheed tracks. The most overrated song on the album: "welcome home" again it's not BAD (it was actually the song that introduced me to coheed) but it's just like their most popular song and the fact is it's NOT their best song which, by definition, makes it overrated Most underrated: i mean all the songs on this album are pretty beloved by fans. but idk. "the lying lies & dirty secrets of miss erica court" i think it gets kind of lost in the shuffle sitting between "the suffering" and the WW suite The banger of all bangers: "The Suffering" LISTEN WELL WILL YOU MARRY ME??? AND ARE YOU WELL IN THE SUFFERING? it goes so fucking hard! it's one of the catchiest choruses they've ever written! jaunty little pop tune! but also a certified ripper! the fun little piano bit! HEY HEY! IF IT WAS UP TO MEEEEEE I WOULD HAVE FIGURED YOU OUT WAY BEFORE THE YEAR CLOCKED OUT WELL I HOPE YOU'RE WATINGGGG Rate from 0-10: 0/10 no one listen to coheed

hello there !!! ok this is a cute ask to receive hehe.. unfortunately i am cursed w the worst memory in the world so even if the urls of ppl in that circle had stayed the same over the years, i def would not remember most of them anymore . 😭 particularly w folks who may have posted other stuff like critical role & dragon age bc like, i wasnt into those so i probably didnt pay attention to who was posting what & and also unsure even if i did find some if they'd still post the stuff ur looking for . i will say, if ur talkin about the blogs that would post/reblog a lot of gifsets n stuff, like 5 or 6 urls of old mutuals come to mind who i know specifically have de-activated or abandonded their blogs. like i think i know who you're talking about and most of them are no longer active :( so yeh, it feels like a bit of a graveyard over here in terms of the old Opinionated wlw-content gamer blogs. but ig 1. i invite my mutuals to respond to this if they remember any specifics of folks or if they were part of this crowd, 2. feel free to look @ my blog archive if u want to see if u can find any interactions!

hell yeah @holdsteady. ill spread the gospel of GOOD indie pop til i die. even more fervently if they're queer artists. the idea that "pop" can't be good is insane. the shit that makes it to top 40/people play ad nauseum is usually not good but that doesn't mean the entire genre is unworthy. there's people doing incredible shit in the indie/alt pop scene.

1. book you’ve reread the most times?

probably the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson. unofficially, it's a book i try to re-read every october, but realistically i manage it once every two or three years.

4. what sections of a bookstore do you browse?

probably doesn't come as a surprise but always ALWAYS sci-fi/fantasy. horror, whenever there actually IS a horror section in a store. sometimes the new releases too.

12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?

when we got assigned 1984 i read the whole thing in a weekend

19. most disliked popular books?

okay the more time has passed the more i've come to hate the seven husbands of evelyn hugo kdjaflasdjkf LIKE - okay it's compulsively readable, i'll give it that. knocked it back in like two sittings in a single day. BUT - the 'twist' was so stupid and the characters felt so cartoonish in the end. i think evelyn herself was the most interesting character but TJR made some truly silly decisions in that story.

hE 1) Breniik, my noxian scout OC for league of legends. He’s a stealth based ranged jungler, like Twitch but designed to jungle from the start. He has a stupid accent and uses a bow as tall as he is and has an E based around buffing speed while moving AWAY from champions and team-buff ultimate where he sacrifices some of his stats to give them to his team. Like a Noxian answer to Quinn, but instead of being good at murder and engage, his purpose is escape and repositioning. 2) Adam Charnal; while he’s newest so I might be biased, he’s probably the most fun I’ve had designing/writing/working on a character. He’s for a super robots tabletop game in which he’s a former bandit who became a search-and-rescue pilot who’s old combat skills and past keep coming in handy and also seem to haunt him.  3) Katerine, no duh. Punk rock frontwoman doing a bunch of the things I always dreamed most about while getting clean from drugs + also being an absolute babe? She’s very aesthetic and I’ve never forgotten her. 4) Czar, my Bloodborne OC who’s a survivor of the franco-prussian war and trapped in a cthulian nightmare that he’s pretty sure he’s just going to wake up from and find himself back on the front in midwinter. 5) Bohdan, the person most people knew me as after I left world of warcraft but before my current incarnation, a very large ice giant who’s considered something of an outsider. While his people are a bit behind, technologically, he’s constantly taking bits and pieces of other peoples discoveries and trying to reverse engineer them. He’s figured out ovens, bread, and very simple alchemy so far. I also have trouble envisioning him without an old friend’s OC alongside him, but I don’t know if they’re still around in any way.

Hopefully this isn't a question you get asked too often, but what's the origin of your Buffy tag?

It isn’t a question I get asked much, no! And what a good question to be asked, too. I wanted something that’d make me smile every time I saw it, and in thinking about references and allusions to things from the shows, remembered Spike’s poem in Not Fade Away with “wanton folly” in the title. It made me think “wanton follies” - which sparked the memory of the title La Cage Aux Folles, the original French version of The Birdcage (incidentally, a rare example of the remake being the superior product).

Bring the two of them together, you get wanton cage aux folles: the cage of lustful mad women, the lustful crazy ones, the realm of the mad lovers. The deepest deep cut I’ve yet to make in any of my fandom-focused tags, and as such, one I’m very fond of.
