Hi i classified all your insects for you :)
Lepidoptera: 56
Hymenoptera: 8
Coleoptera: 25
Megaloptera: 6
Ephemeroptera: 2
Diptera: 20
Trichoptera: 2
Dermaptera: 1
Hemiptera: 4
Neuroptera: 1
Mecoptera: 2
Arachnids: 2
I find this interesting because the amount of species, despite being ‘random’, is still biased towards butterflies and moths, despite beetles having about twice as many species. Do people speak too much like moths? Who knows.
Can I get a mantis someday I love mantids
i was going to say thank you for the headache but with enough neurodivergency in your head and enough love in your heart anything can be a joyous whimsical endeavor. godspeed soldier
#bugs#cyclosilicate#asks#one of the first things people noticed on this blog is that most of the results were of lepidopterans#but i had no idea we had 56 of them#extremely interesting. thank you for the insight#i salute you

Welp, this is what happens when I have very specific brainrot early in the morning. I go into my old fan analysis mindset.
Complete insanity under the cut as I go crazy trying to figure out what gems each of the gem siblings are and who are twins and triplets.
Tagging @star-on-a-beach because well, I'm partially blaming you.
Was adding new info to my little gem sibling document, when I reread one of Citrina's posts about there being two sets of twins, two sets of triplets, and a set of quintuplets. And I realized, Rubio and Sapphia, Ruby and Sapphire the only two kinds of corundum, are twins. And Citrina is a quintuplet and I knew just from a glance that there were 3 other quartzes (Amie-Amethyst, Jaspar-Jasper, Rosephine-Rose Quartz), so the quintuplets all being quartzes made sense, but who is the fifth?
And it became a case of me staring at names, figuring out what gem they are, and double checking what gem type each is. Complete with scribbled notes, pulling out my gemstone books, and doing a wikipedia dive... oh boy...
Aventte is probably the 5th Quartz Quintuplet, at least if I'm right that she's Aventurine.
There are 3 beryls, Morganne-Morganite, Alexandine-Alexandrite, and Emesis- Emerald, so they must be triplets.
Zircando-Zircon and Garniel-Garnet are both neosilicates, they could be the second set of twins, or maybe 2 of the 3 for the last triplets.
I struggled figuring out what Beni might be, had to search up gemstones that start with B, and found Benitoite. That's a cyclosilicate, and Tourmoline-Tourmaline is also one of those, so here's potentially the other set of twins/triplets.
Pretty sure Sideon-Obsidian, Jadeine-Jade, Opalia-Opal, Pearlyn-Pearl, Dia-Diamond are all stand alone because the gem types they are don't match up with any other as far as I can tell. Ambelle is I think Amber, and that would make her a stand alone too.
Then we have Zuli *shakes them* WHAT ARE YOU??!! I cannot figure out what gem they could be, I'm fairly certain they're the third triplet, but are you triplets with Zircando and Garniel, or Beni and Tourmoline?! Kinda leaning more to them being Beni and Tourmoline's triplet though I have no real reason for that beyond vague vibes.
I also could be completely barking up the wrong tree, but hey, that's just what happens sometimes.
#vian's oc brainrot#now I'm going to bed before I start looking up regional names of gems to find what Zuli might be#I may have misgendered someone here and if so I apologize... I only know the names of 4 of the 5 brothers

Apparently im going around assigning all my moots what gemstone/mineral i think they are. Why, i don't know, i just decided that's how i'm going to procrastinate tonight. I think you are Pyrite, also known as Fool's Gold. Why? I associate you with the colour yellow. Also, fool's gold tends to grow in small fleck-like geometric crystals in rock, which kind of look like stars to me and that also makes me think of you. Its right shade of yellow, and most importantly, always looks like its flecked on top of black for some reason. A bit like a bee!

(tumbled pyrite for reference)
Why not real gold, you may be wondering? Idk. Maybe because real gold is usually polished and shaped which I don’t think fits, or maybe because its too yellow. Also, real gold just makes me think of snobby rich old people.
Anyway! Hi Bee!!!! :D
you are SO much fun i love being your moot. almost wrote 'i swear i have one of these in my rock tin right now' but i went and looked and sadly i DONT!!!!!! a traversty. i counterassign you tumbled iolite, also known as cordierite, a magnesium iron aluminium cyclosilicate, because its SO pretty and also i associate you with a purple-blue colour. we all become our pfps into eternity ‼️ also cause its the "stone of visionaries" apparently and your blog title is enigma blue. it all checks out
thank u for thinking of me, fool's gold is a BANGING name. i love it. HERE'S TO HOPING YOU FINISHED THAT LAB REPORT!!!!! GOOD LUCK BLUE!!!!!! 💛💛💛

I discovered tourmaline in Bangkok about 10 years ago, it used to be fairly cheap and funky, amazing colours attracting passers by in Silom. It is indeed an astonishing creation of nature.
"Tourmaline is a fascinating gemstone that is known for its wide range of colours and unique properties. It is a crystalline mineral composed of complex borosilicate compounds and belongs to the cyclosilicate mineral group. Tourmaline is cherished for its beauty and versatility.
One of the most remarkable aspects of tourmaline is its incredible colour range. It can be found in almost every color of the rainbow, including green, blue, red, pink, yellow, brown, black, and even colorless varieties. Some tourmalines even exhibit multiple colors within a single crystal, referred to as “bi-color” or “watermelon” tourmalines. This extensive color palette makes tourmaline a popular choice among gem enthusiasts and jewelry designers.
Tourmaline derives its name from the Sinhalese word “turmali,” which means “mixed colors.” This name aptly reflects the gem’s diverse range of hues. The gemstone has been known to various cultures for centuries, but it gained popularity in Europe during the 18th century when it was imported from Sri Lanka.
Apart from its captivating colors, tourmaline exhibits interesting optical properties. Many tourmaline crystals have a property called pleochroism, meaning they can display different colors when viewed from different angles. This optical phenomenon adds to the gemstone’s allure and makes each piece unique.

i feel like you kind of have to do mcr as precious stones
okayyyy well i think gerard is a black tourmaline (scientifically known as schorl, a cyclosilicate with a boron base)
and i think frank is some kind of weird little jasper (this here is rainforest jasper since i used sea jasper in my other post)
and i think ray is perhaps an enstatite (magnesium pyroxene silicate)
and my lovely lovely mikey is probably a sodalite (tectosilicate WITHOUT! zeolitic water)
[NOT ALL OF THESE ARE TECHNICALLY PRECIOUS STONES but all of them have found some use or other in jewelery at various points]

Verdelite
The green colored crystals here are Verdelite, a name given to the green color variation of the cyclosilicate Tourmaline.
Verdelite, like most varieties of Tourmaline can range in quality from lower grade opaque crystals to higher grade translucent crystals like these ones. The intensity of the green can also range from an almost olive green through to nearly black.

Luminous Love: Sugilite Jewelry for Meaningful Connections
Hearing a "purple crystal" usually pops up the images of amethyst or iolite in our minds, but Sugilite is a new addition to this list. A rare and elegant pink to purple-magenta gemstone with glassy luster and sheen, it makes classy Sugilite Jewelry for gem admirers. Keeping this nurturing gemstone nearby promotes healthy relationships and fosters physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Sugilite is simply a cyclosilicate mineral that often comes in violet or magenta colors, while the rosy pink hint comes due to the limited amounts of manganese.
