hello :) if you have more fil lore to share i would love to hear it 🫶
oh my god yes i do!! buckle in bc i love this czech man and his gorgeous beard and this post got a little long.
first, here is fil being smiley with his former teammate fil (fun fact: filip zadina is who the red wings picked instead of quinn hughes in the draft, allowing the canucks to get quinn.):
source
second, while i can only add one video, here is a link to one minute of fil and his dog (the photos below are from this vid)
fun facts about hronek:
idk if you’ve seen the clip but during one of the last games of the season, when the canucks were beating the flames 3-0, the hot mic picked up on fil shouting “you have holidays in two days” to the flames bench
he scored a goal off of a 107.9mph shot last season which is insane and i need him to do it again
quinn literally loves him:
“I thought we were going to be a very good tandem, but we’ve been way better than I could’ve pictured us being. He’s helped me so much.” [source]
“(I) probably haven’t played with a player as good as him. He’s really skilled, can move the puck, can see things, can defend, can skate…they wanted to maybe split us up but I’m happy we’re together.” [source]
“Maybe he’s not comfortable around the media, which is fine. But around us, he’s like one of my favourite teammates ever. He’s not quiet, but he’s not loud. He wants to work with me and I want to work with him.” [source]
fil vs the media:
literally gonna be a rivalry for the ages now that he’s signed a long-term deal w us and i kinda can’t wait.
backstory: hronek is quite reserved and isn’t super comfortable in front of the media, as is his right. at his exit interview this season, jeff paterson got into it with him because fil denied that he had an injury and jeff wanted him to say that he did on the record lmao. this conversation starts at around 2:25 of this video:
hronek: i mean, you named it. like, first half of the year i was producing, second half i was not.
paterson: and why was that?
hronek, my sassy king: um, why? if i know the answer, i probably would do something different.
paterson: were you playing through an injury?
hronek: ?? no
paterson, about to make his way onto my bad side: like, we gave you your space all year; we’re just trying to ask a few questions at this stage
hronek: well what do you want me to say?
paterson: i just, i was curious about where the production-
hronek: what do you want me to say on—like, on the injury, if i didn’t have injury, what do you want me to say? i said no.
[cue awkward silence until a different reporter starts talking to soucy]
now, fast forward a little while: he still hadn’t re-signed, and vancouver media was doing vancouver media things (speculating about how he probably hates it here and there’s no way he can be a canuck if he doesn’t like doing media and he probably wants to go to a more lowkey city etc etc.) when, low and behold, he signed an 8-year contract extension. One of his quotes?
"I guess I'm going to have to do more media for 8 more years. It's going to be fun." [source]
him and jeff paterson are gonna be bffs by like november 2027.
also, filip on vancouver as a market/canucks fans:
“I like it. It’s nice when people like it and they enjoy the hockey and they’re supporting us, so, it’s a lot of fun.” [source]
Bodice embellishment is 95% done, and the Glass Gown is starting to live up to its name! I’m finishing up the silver embroidery right now, using a very long chain stitch for most of it. I found that to have the best impact and fluidity for the long stems.
The silver embroidery thread is Sajou ‘Fil au Chinois’ in metallic silver. The beading thread is Kinkame 50wt silk in color #10.
The beads are:
2mm Czech fire-polished in Crystal AB, Crystal w/ Silver AB, and Silver.
mini Gem-duo beads in silver
3mm and 6mm Miyuki smooth bugle beads in Crystal AB
6mm Dyna-mites twist bugle beads in opaque ceylon rainbow white
15/0 Toho “3-cut” seed beads in silver (these have a very warm, nearly gold tone but this added some nice variety).
I actually bought so many other beads for this project but none of them ended up working out. This combo ended up giving me the texture and color variety I wanted while remaining cohesive and restrained. I especially love working with the fire-polished beads. The facets give them so much sparkle and texture while not being chunky or tacky. I will definitely be getting more in more colors for future projects (and also these colors again because they’re so versatile).

Why is a bishop called a bishop?
Not the Christian middle-manager, halfway between God and the faithful, who gets his name from “epi-skopos”, Greek for “over-seer”; but rather the chess piece. Well: the top of the piece looks a bit like a mitre, that peculiarly episcopal type of hat.
End of story? Not according to this map. The English label has some following (“easpa(i)g” in Gaelic, “bispo” in Portuguese, “biskup” in Icelandic”), but in the concert of European languages, it’s clearly in the minority.
In most other languages, the same piece has a decidedly non-clerical appellation - sometimes related to the moves it can make, or to other things it resembles, or… turtles?
Here’s an overview of the bishop’s other names:
Elephant
Not many bishops in the Muslim world. In Arabic, the piece is called “al-fil”, or “the elephant”. That name filtered through into Spanish (“alfil”), Turkish and Azeri (“fil”), and Armenian (“p’il”). The Slavic name for the same animal is used by Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian (“slon”).
Runner
In Germanic languages and a few of their neighbours the bishop is a runner: in Dutch (“loper”), German (“Läufer”), Luxembourgish (“Leefer”), Danish (“løber”), Swedish (“löpare”), Norwegian (“løper”), Finnish (“lähetti”) and Hungarian (“futó”).
Hunter
In the South Slavic languages, he’s a hunter, written either as “lovac” (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian) or “lovec” (Slovenian, Macedonian).
Officer/Noble
Bulgarians and Albanians agree that the bishop is an officer – “oficer” in Bulgarian and Albanian, but the Greeks beg to differ: he’s an “axiomatikos”, or “nobleman”. Lithuania’s “rikis” has the same colour code, but it’s unclear whether this Baltic bishop is an officer or a gentleman.
Crazy/Jester
In French, the bishop is a fool (“fou”), which is not entirely the same as a lunatic (“nebun” in Romanian).
Gunner
A return to military form in Czech and Slovak, where the bishop turns into a “strelec”, or gunner.
Standard-bearer
In Italian alone, the bishop is a standard-bearer, or ensign: “alfiere”.
Stock of a gun
Another isolate: in Latvian, he’s the stock of a gun (“laidnis”).
Spear
Latvia’s northern neighbours are a bit more primitive about it, and see the bishop as a spear (“oda”).
Turtle
Perhaps the most outlandish label for the bishop is given by Georgian. Only they look at the bishop and see something that is not even remotely military, courtly or athletic – a turtle (“ku”).

Looking to Buy XRP, Sell XRP USA Worldwide? XRP Ripple Cryptocurrency for Cash! We also provide reviews for the best XRP exchanges, XRP wallets, and XRP news!
How to Buy Sell XRP Ripple
So, you’ve decided to invest in XRP Ripple. However, you’re confused and don’t know where to start - you're wondering, how to buy XRP? With so many options available, it can be difficult to choose the best option for you. Plus, there are lots of things you need to think about before you start making payments.
Learning how to buy XRP in USA can be a confusing process. It doesn’t have to be, though. In this guide, we will give you the answers!
How to Buy XRP?
The process of buying and selling XRP has been made a lot simpler over the last few months. There are a few important factors that you must think about before buying XRP:
Payment Method
The most common and accepted payment methods to buy cryptocurrency include: credit card, bank transfer, or even cash. Different websites accept different payment methods, so you'll need to choose a website that accepts the payment method you want to use.
Type of Cryptocurrency
Not all cryptocurrencies are available for purchase on every website. You will have to find a website that sells XRP that you want to buy.
Cost of Fees
Each website has different fees. Some are cheap, some are not so cheap. Make sure you know how much the fees cost before setting up an account on any website. You don't want to waste your time verifying yourself and then find out the fees are too high!
How Much You Can Afford
As with any investment, you should never invest more than you can afford. I recommend speaking to a financial adviser first.
With those 4 factors in mind, we can move on. When you buy your XRP, though, where are you going to store it? I'll give you a hint: it's not your bank account.

Cryptocurrency Wallet
A XRP wallet is where you store your cryptocurrencies after you have bought them. You can compare a cryptocurrency wallet with your bank account. In the same way that you store traditional currencies (USD, JPY, EUR etc.) in your bank account, you will store your cryptocurrencies in your crypto wallet.
There are a lot of easy-to-use and safe options to choose from. It is important that you choose a highly-secure wallet, because if your cryptocurrency gets stolen from your wallet, you can never get it back.
There are three types of wallets:
Online wallets: The quickest to set up (but also the least safe);
Software wallets: An app you download (safer than an online wallet);
Hardware wallets: A portable device you plug into your computer via USB (the safest option).
The wallet you need will depend on which cryptocurrency you want to buy. If you buy Bitcoin, for example, you'll need a wallet that can store Bitcoin. If you buy XRP, you'll need a wallet that can store XRP.
Luckily, there are a lot of good wallets to choose from that can store multiple cryptocurrencies.
Where to Buy Cryptocurrency?
To learn where to buy XRP, you’ll first need to know where to purchase XRP stock. Just a few years ago, there were only a few places to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. Now, though, there are a lot more! Let’s look at the different places and ways you can get your crypto.
How to Buy Cryptocurrency at Cryptocurrency Exchanges?
XRP exchanges are online websites that let you exchange your local currency for cryptocurrency. Exchanges are the most popular way of buying cryptocurrency. I recommend newbies to use these exchange websites as they are easy-to-use and quick to set up.
Payment Method: Most of the exchanges accept payment by bank transfer or credit card, some of them also accept PayPal.
There are a lot of exchanges for you to choose from. Each one of them has different levels of security and they each accept different types of payment methods. Most exchanges will ask you to follow the steps below before you can start buying cryptocurrency.
Check the security of the exchange. This is the most important thing you need to consider as investors have lost lots of money in the past when the exchanges have been hacked.
Transaction fees – the lower, the better.
The number of payment options available: do they accept bank transfer, credit card, PayPal, etc.?
The amount of time it takes to activate your account — if you’re in a hurry, you might not want to wait a long time to get verified!
Which cryptocurrency options they offer. For example, if you want to buy the XRP token then you need be sure that the exchange you choose sells the XRP token.

Neil Morris, speaking to Alan Lomax in 1959:
“Well, when I was just a small boy, Old Uncle Milt Oldfield…Billy Oldfield, the Congressman from Arkansas for so long, it is his father. He and my father are awfully close friends. And they were discussing music. They were music teachers both of them.
“And uh, and they said, dad did and Uncle Milt sanctioned what he said, that MUSIC HAD NO END. That you could learn all the other guy [or girl] learned, and after you got that done they would then, something else would crop up. That uh, that you, that was the reason why that uh, music advanced. That’s why that you would get a better music in one generation maybe that is, uh, IT WOULD FIT THE TIMES IN WHICH THEY LIVED.”
[Lomax: “What about music on the grapevine?”]
“Welllll, they said that MUSIC GREW LIKE THE GRAPEVINE THAT IS NEVER PRUNED. That each year it’d…it’d put on a little bit more. That was what they said, now, about it. Any further questions?”’
It’s time to feast from 2018′s Grapevine That Is Never Pruned with 123 (+ 162 more) of the BEST REASONS TO WRITE FUCKIN’ RECORD REVIEWS IN 2018!
A prefatory note: The Best Reasons campaigns of our first five years endured critiques from far and wide about too many damn records listed. Well...we can no longer countenance such reproach. Every single one of these nuggets is an essential thread in the tapestry of 2018′s combustible sonic arts! We here at FRR stand for ecumenicism and as such, consider the breadth of our listening parameters: Feeding Tube Records issued 74 items in 2018 (!), Clean Feed released about 80, and Astral Spirits about 30...that’s a lot potential gold in those three labels alone. Sure, it’s too much for any one person to absorb, but still...
We all know that some combination of easy access to home studio tools, world wide web streaming, social media delirium, legacy record industry collapse, and artistic resistance to creeping authoritarianism has (somewhat paradoxically) unleashed a tidal wave of idiosyncratically great music during the past decade, so it should come as no surprise that such a list as this would contain nearly 300 essential items. Yea, it seems nearly everything gets recorded and released these days (especially the zonked improv/collagist /noise/outer limits realm), but whether or not we listen to such items as frequently as we consumed Exile On Main Street or Cosmic Tones For Mental Therapy back in the day is irrelevant...the time is now, and as far as wild sounds from the outer dimensions goes, now has unprecedented bounty...listen heartily, for tomorrow, who knows?
(...all long playing records unless otherwise noted...also, the list was made complete with links, but grrr they don’t show up, so point your browser as they used to say and happy hunting!)
