Crystal’s Recommendations - D1VERSE

Hello everyone! Crystal here and welcome back to “Crystal’s Recommendations.” (Yeesh, this has been in my recommendations forever...)

Anyways, today I would like to recommend the Vietnamese boy group- D1VERSE.

I discovered the group through Twitter that contained a video of a performance at a showcase. I got interested, and so I decided to look more into them.

D1VERSE is a 5 member group under RBW Vietnam- a sublabel of RBW Entertainment. (The company that manages groups such as Mamamoo and Oneus).

They made their pre-debut on December 15th, 2019, with the single “Bring it Low.” After watching the performance video, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the video. However, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I did enjoy the vocals, and the choreography wasn’t too bad either.

On February 27th, 2020, the group made their official debut with the single called “Pantheon: Volcano” with the title track being “Monster.”

This debut was definitely an improvement. The sets did look better, but I honestly think they could’ve been better. Really, what is up with the “1theK” logo? 

Regardless, I did enjoy the song, and I do hope that the group continues to improve.

I also hope that you guys show D1VERSE some love and support! ^^

Hello, we are D1:VERSE!This was our first ever stage as a group at Iwai Mini! We performed with great pride and are very thankful for the friendly audience that made our performance even more eventful. I literally don’t have a life so here is every kpop boygroup ever (consisting of at least three members, besides maybe B.O.Y) sorted both alphabetically (kinda) + their debut date and linked to their latest (or any) MV.

Random midnight thoughts

I've been thinking a lot about the accusations that the former D1VERSE member said against MAMAMOO and ONEUS.

Even though RBW took action against it pretty quickly, it left me wondering what he said. What if those accusations were true?

Of course I would support them, I am a fan of both groups and nothing else would make me happy. What matters most is their happiness, that they be free; representation and diversity are very important.

But it is a very difficult decision that they must make freely, and come out for their own choosing. Not by third parties who do not respect their privacy.

But it is not the same to be an openly homosexual artist in Korea than in the West. They are very different realities.

I do not doubt that they receive a lot of support and love from the international Fandom (from the majority) but in Korea ... it is a completely different reality. They will receive a lot of hatred from the majority and not only from their "fans" but from the general public. And that can end and sink their careers.

I really don't know what to think... I believe I'm overthinking things and I'm drowning myself in a glass of water.

At the end of the day, we don't really know what the true reality of our favorite groups is, it is their private life and it deserves to be respected, that they be happy and decide what they want.

Whatever it is, I will always support you to the end.

Current goals are to figure out who everyone in Seventeen and all the NCT’s are, since I can only identify my biases in them. 😂 But I’m working on D1Verse & E’Last too.

Hmm. I like Red Vines when I go to the movies. I like jelly beans at Easter. I like Swedish Fish. I like chocolate Tootsie Pops. ...and if you buy me a fancy heart shaped box of See’s Milk Buttercreams for Valentines Day, I will swoon.

5. Dream Vacation?

The eastern Mediterranean: Greece, Rome & Turkey

6. What is a funny story from your childhood?

The Thanksgiving the year I was 3: my family decided to go in the backyard to take pictures, and while no one was paying attention to me, I drained everyone’s champagne glasses. Stripped off all my clothes, and spent the rest of the night sitting in a corner drunkenly singing “this old man” in toddler-speak. (Note: this was also a preview of my time at university) 🍾
