Autism Update!

A long requested update, Starwalker has finally been changed. After long rounds of voting in our discord server, Starwalker has been offically replaced in all code as Prismatic Mind.

I've tried and failed to make DNI lists in the past, so I'll just list my moral stances instead and see if that makes people go away:

I support any and all genuine good faith identities/labels. Yes, even the ones you're thinking of. Unless it causes actual harm (and no, 'it will make us look bad to the (non-labels) ' or 'it's not real!!1!!' are not actual harm.) it is none of my business.

I don't care if you're into (problematic media here), just don't get upset if I randomly start clowning on it.

All while I am completely unable to donate anything. I'm sorry. I'm disabled. I don't have a job because they're either 1) impossible for me to hold or 2) require qualifications I don't have.

I've BEGGED and BEGGED and BEGGED these people to stop sending me these, but they don't listen. I've relapsed into self-harm because of the content sent to me. So I wont be answering any asks or dms, or reblogging any individuals posts. I'm sorry.

Instead, I'll try to donate to organizations such as these when I can, but that is not my decision to make. I can't manage my own finances, and my caretakers aren't as willing to help people as I want to be. I'm so sorry, I can't help you.

Thank you all for 50 followers! As a special treat we will be talking a bit about who Fringekit is!

Fringekit is our mod's mascot. Why is Fringekit a kit? Well, the reason is simple! When Sparrow originally sent Fringekit to the thread excited over the fact that we could in fact make disabilities and put them in game. Mrr never sent what Fringekit looked like after, it was only the newborn sprite. And cae doesn't have that original save anymore, so we just have the screenshot that they sent all those months ago. Of Fringekit with the conditions tab open, and Autism listed.

ADHD/Comet Spirit

Risks If your cat has ADHD, they have the risks to get: Impulsively, hyperactivity, indecision, maladaptive daydreaming, understimulation and overstimulation, echolalia, stimming and word loss.

Comorbid ADHD has a LOT of comorbidities. Autism, light sensitivity, Auditory Processing Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Tourette's, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalulia, Hyperempathy, and Echolalia are all included.

Wip status ADHD is going to receive some work in the future. It lacks executive dysfunction as its own symptom and doesn't fully represent more inattentive presentations of ADHD on its own.

History ADHD has received a name change among many many additions. Originally, it was known as Boundless Energy! As an ADHDer who leans more impulsive/inattentive, I'm glad the name was changed.

What's next? What's next for ADHD is adding in executive dysfunction and more inattentive symptoms!

Tourette's Syndrome/Chattering Tongue

Risks If your cat has Tourette's Syndrome, they are very likely to have tics, tic attacks, impulsivity, absences, echolalia, or even break bones!

Comorbid If your cat has Tourette's Syndrome, there is a possibility that they could also have ADHD, Autism, echolalia, or the base game condition seizure prone.

WIP status There is still major work being planned for Tourette's Syndrome. Currently, we are working on changing the warrior-ifed name as Chattering Tongue only really represents those with vocal tics and the majority of the population with Tourette's doesn't have vocal tics.

History We first got a very in-depth request for tics and Tourette's Syndrome on our discord. Honestly, the details of it were so informative and expanded on Tourette's outside of what was known to me. It was first called Bug Brained but it didn't sound right for Tourette's and a lot of people disliked it so we changed it to Chattering Tongue which is still not the greatest. That leads us to today where we are having a poll on our discord about what to rename Tourette's Syndrome.

What's next? Well, after we make the name changes, I plan to add brain fog to Tourette's. Brain fog was originally apart of the suggestion for Tourette's, but at the time, I didn't know how to approach brain fog as a whole. Now that brain fog is a condition that has been added to the game and there has already been some writing about how it functions, I feel more confident about adding it to Tourette's.

Autism/Starwalker

Risks Cats with autism can get special interests, hyperfixations, stim, have verbal shutdowns, anxiety attacks, tics, tic attacks, seasonal depression, absences, daydreams, regress, have light sensitivity, overstimulation, and understimulation, become a system, nausea, echolalia, word loss, and meltdowns/shutdowns.

Comorbid Cats with autism can have these comorbid conditions: ADHD, light sensitivity, APD, SPD, Tourette's, dyslexia, dyscalculia, hyper/hypo empathy, face blindness, echolalia, selective mutism, and aphantasia.

WIP status Autism is our most complete condition. As people bring up stuff, we might add or tweak but I don't see any major changes in the future.

History Autism is the very first condition ever made in dadm and our mascot FringeKit has autism. Before we left ClanGen, we got a lot of flack for the name Starwalker due to its reclaimative nature. Though, ironically, Starwalker isn't even the first name that we went to for it and Starwalker was decided by a group of autistic people.

Accessories and Service Pets Cats with autism can find small animals and snakes to act as service animals as well as find autism pride flags!

Hyperempathy/Spirited Heart

Risks Cats with hyperempathy have a risk to get an anxiety attack.

Comorbid Cats with hyperempathy can also get OCD, ADHD, BPD and/or Autism.

WIP status Hyperempathy is in a good state. The only additions I can see to it are expanding on existing reveals.

Orthostatic Hypotension/Falling Paws

Risks Dizziness, headaches, fainting, bruises and scrapes are all potential dangers for Orthostatic Hypotension. WIP status Orthostatic Hypotension is in a very good stopping point right now. The only things I think we could add to it is a way for orthostatic conditions to be unable to get diagnosed together.

History As of this post, this is a more recent condition with the addition of two other orthostatic intolerances.

Service Animals Cats with Orthostatic Hypotension can get a snake or other small animal companion to alert the clan when they faint!

Can you explain the difference between body biter and chattering tounge?

Hi! Great question!

Body Biter refers to Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). These are not necessarily tics, although they can be commorbid. These usually occur as repetitive self grooming behaviors as the result of anxiety or compulsions. (More info)

Chattering Tongue is for tic disorders, specifically Tourette’s! These conditions can overlap heavily, especially if the individual also has OCD. However, they are distinct disorders.

With regards to conditions; is there anything in the works for cerebellar hypoplasia AKA wobbly cat syndrome? It's such a common disorder in feral cat populations (since it's often caused by the molly having FPV, which can be vaccinated against) that I'm surprised there aren't more wobbly warrior cats!

Wobbly cat syndrome got suggested to us way back in the day and what we agreed on then was that yes we would do it. But since then there hasn't been any work on it. Heck, we have a thread for it in the discord server

In short, yes this is on our very long to-do list, but currently there isn't any work on it.

Vaccinated

Vaccinated

Vaccinated is a condition that went along with the TNR update! It makes it so that it is very unlikely for vaccinated cats to get all sorts of coughs.

Neutered/TNR

Neutered This is a toggle-able thing that was made at the request of our wonderful community! Kittypets that become neutered have a zero chance of getting biological kits.
