ALL OF DAPHNE'S TRANSFORMATIONS. INCLUDING UPDATED NYMPHIX.
Previously Fairy of the Dragon Flame now Fairy of Embers. She doesn't have any transformations others than these because she was fast tracked into the nymphix path, and unlike the winx the majority of fairies don't pursue additional transformations past enchantix. (i think Daphne would be interested in Dreamix tho, so maybe I'll draw that eventually.
Her major color shifted after dying and being revived, which is shown in her winx and enchantix.
other lore and design notes below!
I changed her major color from orange/yellow to more of a teal/green because. she just doesn't look good in yellow I'm sorry I really tried but it wasn't working. Also little updates to her hair color, nothing huge tho. Daphne's primary motifs are a branching "Y" shape and a double oval/tear drop. She's a pants when possible girlie and a one set winger(yes her nymphix looks like it have multiple wings but they all merge into one stem on each side) . Her scars from her Sirenix being ripped out of her caused her winx/enchantix to change a little to cover them(mostly seen in the arms) due to insecurity. Her Dryadix/nymphix flower is a daffodil! because pun Daph-Daff, and Daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings (also creativity, energy, resilience, forgiveness and vitality). Her Harpix wings aren't super specificly patterned, but she has darting wings common in small song and seed birds (robins, finches, brown birds etc.) the coloring is referential of a Shrike (also called a Butcher Bird), because Daphne was. incredibly dangerous and if she had sided with the ancestral probably would have been given a moniker similar to Butcher of Domino or Daphne the Slaughterer. (some people do call her these but its mostly among people who dislike Domino/The Royal Family.)
Lore! Daphne doesn't have a great sense of self, she was planned as a necessary successor to Marion/the dragon flame in a period as the ancestral witches were escalating their attacks and search for the dragon flame. Bloom was a back up baby in case both Daphne and Marion got dead and basically worked as intended haha. Daphne was also much more publicly involved in the kingdom than many of the other royals in winx (Stella, Aisha, Krystal and even Galatea to an extent all had rather sheltered upbringings) in a way Daphne is much more like Sky and Thoren in the since that none of them really had the space to develop their own personality outside of their familial duty.
Daphne's 1st winx and enchantixes are as direct a copy of her mom's Enchantix as you can get with transformations, right down to the more greenish tint of her major color. Growing up Marion used her fairy form liberally, so that, combined with being the next Dragon Flame holder left a deep impact on Daphne's subconscious. Daphne was also heavily influenced by Faragonda during her Alfea and Nymphix Quest years, but since she was older this isn't as deep an influence. After being revived, Daphne's years of defining herself as her connection to Bloom causes her major color to shift more blue in response to her trauma. Daphne is slowly starting to develop a sense of self outside of her titles/connections but it's unlikely her major color will shift again unless she has another major trauma.
(for the record the Winx do have trauma over the timeline I have laid out that would potentially cause their major colors to shift but I didn't do that for a couple reasons 1, their colors are iconic and make them easily recognizable as characters; 2, I'm a tired bitch. )

looking very closely at the website neighborhood and here's some little things i noticed (plus some overthinking & flower symbolism):
~ the only butterflies on the "map" are the ones outside of Frank's house, and the single one outside of Eddie's.
~~ i think the flowers outside of Eddie's are either hyacinths or lavender. given that the flowers are different colors, they're probably hyacinths. which is a Fascinating choice to me, because hyacinths can symbolize regret, devotion (especially beyond death), love, forgiveness, and jealousy - depending on the flower color. Eddie has light blue, dark blue, and purple. The butterfly is landing on the purple one (sorrow, mourning, forgiveness, regret, devoted love).
~~ its also Fascinating because the myth behinds hyacinths is about the greek god Apollo and his (male) human lover, Hyacinthus. they were playing discus (metal frisbee). Apollo threw the discus too hard, and it bounced back and hit Hyacinthus, killing him. devastated, Apollo grew the hyacinth flower from Hyacinthus' spilled blood. SO THE FACT THAT EDDIE, GAY PUPPET EDDIE, HAS HYACINTH FLOWERS OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE IS UM. INCH RESTING!
~~ (also also in the myth, Apollo wanted to rescind his immortality to join Hyacinthus in his death. and in an alternate version of the myth, Hyacinthus was technically murdered, because Zephyrus was jealous that Apollo preferred a mortal over him & purposefully blew the discus off course to strike Hyacinthus. things to think about. yes, in this whole myth metaphor im viewing Eddie as Hyacinthus and Frank as Apollo. do with this what you will)
~ All of the trees in the neighborhood are in the same general style, except for the tree outside of Sally's home, which is a pine tree. i wonder why!
~ the only buildings with second floors are Barnaby's, Frank's, Sally's, and Poppy's homes. rip the "wally falls down the stairs" memes
~ there's a teeny tiny Home in the post office display window
~ Julie's house has quite a lot of heart symbolism. like, a weird amount. an amount to the point where i now have an entire theory around what her role and arc might be. i Will talk about it with minimal prompting.
~ one of the swingset balloons has a happy face balloon with its eyes closed, which stands out to me (and fuels my julie theory)
~ the only neighbors who don't have flowers outside of their buildings are Sally, Julie (disregarding decoration), and Howdy.
~ Poppy has daffodils, which symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, resilience, and hope. however, they have a negative side of selfishness.
~ Barnaby has red, yellow, and blue tulips. red means undying love, admiration, and truth. yellow means "there's sunshine in your smile", joy, happiness, friendship - But it can also mean unrequited love or jealousy. Blue means individuality, trust, and good luck
~~ note that there's a dead/trampled white tulip. white tulips symbolize sorrow, "my condolences", apology, honor, purity, faith.
~ Frank has sunflowers, daisies, and some others, but those i think are more generic, unspecific flowers for added decoration. i couldn't find a "red flower on vine" that fits the general look of the ones on his house. now, sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty, longevity, happiness (also, might i add that these flowers are from another greek myth about apollo, this one where Apollo turns a jealous nymph into a sunflower for snitching on his mortal lover, which got her (the lover) killed. inch resting indeed.)
~~ also blue daisies, which i am assuming are the blue flowers outside his house, symbolize freedom, trust, loyalty, confidence, and honesty. lots of positivity surrounding Frank's house!
~ Wally has daisies. these symbolize innocence, purity, new beginnings, hope, and affection. it can also symbolize the ability to keep a secret. a fun fact i found interesting is the word daisy comes from an old english word meaning "day's eye."
~~ do i believe these flower choices were purposeful? maybe. probably. it does seem strange that there are specific, distinct flowers drawn in equally specific parts of the "map", while a couple of generic "cartoon" style flowers are sprinkled throughout
~ three green apples are growing on the tree next to Howdy's Place
~ it stands out to me that the bodega window above the fruit stands is completely blacked out. no window shine or nothing
~ Sally's "yard" is weirdly barren. everyone else's buildings (excluding Home) has several things decorating the surrounding area. all she has is a spotlight and a tree.
~ Barnaby's house having paint all over it (and a paintbrush & can next to it) is just cute to me. it makes me think that he wanted to paint like his lil' buddy Wally and just went ham with it. or it was a team effort between them<3
~ it took me a while to notice the tiny "Eddie's" painted above Post Office. it gives the vibe (to me) of him tacking on the "Eddie's" to make the office feel more like his. maybe he saw the sign "Howdy's Place" and decided to paint his name on his building to make himself feel more established and at home
~ there's something on / part of Frank's roof. i don't know what it is. if anyone has an idea please tell me its driving me insane. at first i thought it was a chimney but theres two? making an additional symmetrical structure? idk!!
~ there are only three buildings with straight up rainbows. Eddie's post office (hanging from the roof and in the window), Sally's house (the entire front), and Frank's house (butterfly on the door wreath. i almost didn't catch it, it's a sneaky one!)

Shoka has always had a soft spot in my heart as her grief hits close to home for me. I'm happy to finally be able to draw something about that.
Flower meanings and what not under the cut
Fireflies: I've always admired these, but did you know they can be a symbol for death and rebirth? They can be seen as a symbol of the newly dead passing into the afterlife, and represent eternal life. They guide lost spirits.
Yellow roses are well known as a symbol of friendship and are given as a gift to cherish and celebrate such a bond.
White Chrysanthemums are reserved for mourning and grief. In other countries, they can relate to innocence, purity, honesty, and loyalty.
Daffodils are known to represent rebirth and new beginnings. This isn't surprising since they're some of the first flowers to bloom at the start of a new spring. They can even considered a symbol of hope, resilience, and forgiveness.
Basically, I wanted symbols that could represent the journey through grief. Shoka found belonging and happiness in Shibuya, but she still lost two people who were family to her. I think her future is bright, but she'll always have her memories of Ayano and Suzukichi.

Round 1; A bouquet of wisteria, black and red carnations and foxgloves Vs A bouquet of buttercup, daffodils, edelweiss and orange tulip
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you know who they are, or are pretty sure of it, please don't tell until this poll has ended!
First, let's talk about the bouquet of wisteria, black and red carnations and foxgloves
Meaning and why these flowers were chosen: Wisteria flowers symbolize drama and mystery, which align with his penchant for creating stories with unexpected twists and turns. Black and Red Carnations can symbolize deep fascination or love, which reflect his intense interest in the stories he creates, even if they have tragic outcomes. Foxgloves are known for their toxic properties, which can be associated with his willingness to manipulate and harm his characters for the sake of entertainment Description: Once upon a time, there was a man who died. The man’s work was the writing and telling of stories, but he could not defy death. Regardless, the story continued and he got the chance to lead them even beyond death. However, he doesn't like idealistic and hopeful narratives, preferring tragedy and selfishness in his characters. He thinks happy endings are boring and actively guides the characters in directions he finds entertaining. What's unsettling is his willingness to manipulate and even harm his characters as long as it makes the story more interesting. He takes great delight in telling the other characters what they should be doing per their "roles" in the story, and will sometimes even scold the characters for subverting their roles and trying to do something beyond what's expected of them. However, even when things seem to be going against what he'd wanted, after a brief moment of frustration he chippers back up as long as the twist is at least entertaining. He puts a good story above all else

Now, let's talk about the bouquet of buttercup, daffodils, edelweiss and orange tulip
Meaning and why this flower was chosen: Buttercup (friendship, youth and joy. Can also imply childishness in some contexts, and if you really stretch it, the fact that it is a weed could potentially imply invasiveness, though you are getting a pretty little flower out of the deal, so how bad that is is debatable), daffodils (new beginnings and forgiveness), edelweiss (sacrifice, devotion and adventure), aster (love and faith) and orange tulip (understanding and appreciation) Description: Very full of love and very forgiving, but in a way which sometimes becomes a tiny bit detrimental to her. This character is a rather mild and modest one, albeit one who still has a bit of childishness attached to her, since she's both young and only recently steadily allowing herself to actually act her age after a while of not doing that. She's found a new home after being in one she refuses to acknowledge as bad for her, but even still, a lot of her old tendencies spill over into her new life, to the point where, without her very people-pleasing tendencies, she doesn't know if there's much to love about her at all. She brings happiness to the lives of those she loves most of the time, but she's still trying to make for the simple fact that she exists in their lives at all. Ultimately, the idea of sacrifice is inherent to her nature, and she'd frankly rather put herself in severe, life-threatening danger over possibly being a bother or potentially leading to mild harm to others. She's just not super used to not being a burden just yet

you said you wanted people to ask you about plants soooo
whats your favorite plant/flower? and maybe some of the symbolism behind it?
AHHHH THANK U!!!!!! my fav flower is smth I think about a lot. my current fav, tho, is probably amaryllis (pronounced like am-uh-RILL-is btw). I WISH I had one, but the temps where I live are so high, it wouldn’t do great cuz they like average temps (in growth) and low 40s (in dormancy). for lighting it needs darkness (in dormancy) and medium light in growth. it’s a BEAUUUUUTIFUL winter or spring bloomer….n it almost looks like a lily. blooms in clusters and it has different colors + species.
they often symbolize stuff involving strength, ie pride/determination, which is something I LOVE in plant symbolism. OH YEAH AND “AMARYLLIS” IS A GREEK NAME AND IT MEANS “TO SPARKLE”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hold on here’s a pic of one I got online
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the leafs remind me of daffodil leafs almost hehe,,,
OK ALSO my fave plant (specifically houseplants tho) is smth kinda hard to answer. I like butterfly palms (always wanted one but never got one), chinese evergreen (I have one Yas), avocado trees (i messed mine up when I tried growing my own), prayer plants (I have one…I always do tho), and rubber plants (I also have one). I used to always wish I had a butterfly palm and I never ended up getting one. here’s what they look like
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know they usually have rather positive connotations stemming from Ancient Rome and Greece? but I’m not too sure on symbolism outside of flowers.
one of the prettiest houseplants that is very easy to take care of is pothos. they usually live from 5-10 years. they’re pretty resilient! they love bright indirect light. And get this: they can literally rapidly adapt to their environment, their cell functions can change just from their conditions and everything. they are simple to manage— every time you water them, you should let the soil dry out first (so every 1-2 weeks or so). you don’t need to mist it either. they’re also beautiful, so I would rly recommend this if you are chronically ill, disabled, elderly, very depressed, have executive dysfunction, etc etc.
another resilient and pretty plant is a peace lily. they come in a couple different colors. I know someone who’s had the same HUGE peace lily pot for like 15 years. I’d recommend this if you’ve just started liking plants and are currently obsessed with them, because it loves humidity and to ALWAYS have moist soil. if it’s not wet, the tips of the leaves tend to turn brown which is bad. to help with humidity, I recommend sphagnum moss on the soil. they love misting.
if you want a plant that you can walk past and mist if you wanna, but can’t bring urself to water it directly v often? I recommend something like a spider plant. They’re pretty interesting and you’ve probably seen one before. they like to be misted very often, but they only need to be directly watered after the soils dried. it’s like pothos care but for executive dysfunction.
my fav plant as far as symbolism goes? probably daffodils and hyacinth, mainly for its themes of forgiveness. if you didn’t know, that’s why I usually draw daffodils w/ basil when I get the chance. also: something something white egret orchid something something.
ANYWAYS THANK YOU FOR THE QUESTION :3 SORRU FOR THE RANTING

Chapter 11: Forget-Me-Not
The Sun, the Moon, and All Our Stars
Tumblr media
Summary and Details...
Chapter Background and Summary: Kate and Sebastian parted ways due to his refusal to give up the dark arts. Some time has passed. Neither of them can stop thinking about the other. Sebastian finally broke down and wrote a letter to Kate, begging for forgiveness, telling her he still desperately wants to be with her, and asking if they can meet. In this chapter, Kate sorts through her conflicted feelings as Sebastian sends messages in the form of flowers.
Pairing: Aged-up, post-Azkaban Sebastian Sallow x female OC (Kate Mayflower)
Trigger warnings: None for this chapter. Please note - while minors can pretty safely read this chapter, this story is quite explicit and minors shouldn't be reading the entire thing.
The full chapter is available below the cut, along with the AO3 link. Any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated. A comment, like, or Kudos would make my day.
Chapter 11: Forget-Me-Not
“...and now he sends a flower stem to me daily,” Kate explains, setting down the teacup.
It’s an unseasonably warm Sunday morning in Hogsmeade. Kate sits outside of Steepley and Sons tea shop with her best friend in the entire world, Pearl Abbott. Aptly named, Pearl’s gray eyes sparkle in the light. Her striking white-blonde hair is pulled into a bun. She holds a parasol to protect her delicate alabaster skin from the sunlight.
Kate had asked her to visit, wanting to get her advice about what to do about Sebastian. Pearl had listened intently as Kate told her the entire story of how they met and got to know each other. Kate even told her that she and Sebastian had slept together. Pearl didn’t interrupt much at all, simply nodding in understanding to everything Kate detailed. However, she did make a comment that Kate had not been very stealthy on her birthday. Pearl and her boyfriend - now her fiancé - Felix were the last ones in the Leaky Cauldron at night; they had noticed Kate speaking with a handsome man, and then, coincidentally, he left just a few moments after she did. Pearl just knew these things - Kate couldn’t hide much from her dear friend.
“Just a stem?” Pearl asks with a confused tone. “A single flower stem every day? That’s odd.”
“Yes. I’m positive they are from him,” Kate replies confidently. “I think he is trying to send me messages through the flowers. He told me the night that we met that he knew all about the meaning of flowers.”
“Really? Then what message did he send you?” she inquires, sipping her tea.
“Several. He’s been sending them since Tuesday,” Kate explains with a little smile. “The first was a purple hyacinth. It means he is seeking forgiveness. Then, he sent Sweet William. That symbolizes a broken heart - the pain of rejection. I think he wanted me to know how sorry he is and how sad he feels that I won’t accept him as a lover.”
Pearl’s eyes widen. “Wow. I’m surprised a man knows that much about flower symbolism. But, then again… he’s potentially your match, and you know everything about plants and flowers, Kate… it makes sense. Did he send more?”
“Yes. Then, a Forget-Me-Not, which is self-explanatory. A Dianthus came on Thursday - that one symbolizes gratitude. It’s like he wanted to say that he either hopes I won’t forget him or that he is still thinking of me, and he feels thankful we met. On Friday, a Daffodil - those symbolize rebirth, new beginnings. He wants to start over again,” Kate stares off into the distance as she speaks. Now, she looks down, blushing. “Yesterday, there were two. They were pretty intense - Larkspur and Coreopsis. Larkspur is code for first love; Coreopsis symbolizes love at first sight. I don’t know what to make of that. He is being quite forward…”
“Wow,” Pearl responds, lifting her eyebrows.
“And this morning, I received honeysuckle. That means longing for a lost love and continued devotion.” Kate paused. “You know me. I overthink things… but I put it all together because I just had to. So far, Sebastian is basically telling me, through flowers, that he is sad and sorry and longing for my love. He is saying that he fell in love with me at first sight and that I am the first person he has ever loved. He’s grateful to me, still devoted to me, and will never forget me. He very seriously wants another chance.”
Pearl inhales. “And what are you going to do?”
Kate is quiet for a moment, looking distressed. “I don’t know, Pearl. I really don’t know. I… I don’t know what to do…”
“Kate. Stop waffling. What do you want? Right here and now?” she demands in a firm tone.
Kate exhales, and as she looks at the ground, she finally says, “I want to be with a Sebastian that doesn’t lie. A Sebastian that is willing to change because he wants me that badly.” Her eyes suddenly grow wet. “But I’m so afraid, Pearl. He will probably just hurt me again. I need to be smart. I always make mistakes with love…”
Pearl takes her hand. “You love him, don’t you?” she asks in a quiet voice.
A tear falls from Kate’s eye. “Oh, I couldn’t possibly… we only knew each other for half a day…”
“Kate… are you sure?”
She meets Pearl’s gaze. “No…” she whispers. “I’ve never felt like this about anyone. I can’t stop thinking about him. But… Pearl, don’t you think he’s dangerous? Should I really be in a relationship with someone like that?”
Pearl shrugs. “Why do you care what I think? It’s your life. Live it. Stop thinking about me. Stop thinking about what other people are going to say.”
Kate barks out a laugh. “Pearl. Imagine my parents. My mum. How could I ever tell them? I couldn’t do this to them…”
“When has anything they thought stopped you before?” Pearl retorted. “They didn’t want you to move out, but you did. They didn’t want you to live so far away, but you do.”
“I guess…” Kate hesitates. “Pearl, please just tell me what you think. I need help.”
“Look, if you want my advice, this is what I say. Don’t dive into a relationship right away. Make him work for it. See if he sticks around. See if he changes. And don’t sleep with him until he does,” Pearl tells her.
Kate nods, considering this. “Pearl, I think you’re right…”
Pearl chuffs. “Posh… I know I’m right!” She holds out her hand to point out the shiny new engagement ring. “Trust me. I know what I’m doing!”
They both crack up.
The week passed by slowly. Anxiety ruled her daytime thoughts like a tyrant, but dreams of affection and desire staged a nightly coup. Most nights, she touched herself, imagining Sebastian on top of her, his freckle-dusted face pink with exertion, his lips pressed against hers, his brown eyes filled with adoration.
Monday morning: A pink camellia. Longing.
Tuesday evening: Honeysuckle. Devotion.
Wednesday evening: A cornflower. Hope in love.
On Thursday morning, Kate surveyed the eclectic collection of flowers she had placed together in one vase. All of his messages, ones he knew she would understand, were sweet and thoughtful, but the rational part of Kate’s brain rang alarm bells. Two warring sides constantly occupied her mind.
I might love him.
It couldn’t be love.
I can’t stop thinking about him.
I barely know him.
Sebastian will do anything for me.
He won’t. He’ll disappoint me.
I can’t deny my feelings.
You might have to.
Sebastian will change for me.
He’ll always choose dark magic over me.
He’s my soulmate.
He’s a criminal. A murderer.
The past doesn’t define the future.
History repeats itself.
I just want to let go and love him.
Be careful, Kate. Guard your heart.
Catching Kate staring into space for what must have been the eighth time over the course of a few hours, Madam Scribner eyes her suspiciously. “What has gotten into you today?”
Kate smiles dreamily. “I’m meeting someone tonight. A man I really care for.”
Madam Scribner cracked a rare smile. “Well, may he be worthy of you, dear.”
Kate’s eyes went wide, reminded of the logic she was missing in the moment.
“Who is he, Kate?” she asked curiously.
“Oh… you would know him, Agnes,” Kate began cautiously. “You definitely know him. I don’t dare say his name - he says he was in trouble with you often.”
The head librarian frowned, furrowing her eyebrows. “That doesn’t narrow it down much, but most of my former students grow to be mature like you with age.”
Kate gave a half smile, sighing. “Yes. People change…”
As Kate’s work hours came to a close, she whispered a goodbye to Madam Scribner, then darted out the door. She couldn’t get home fast enough. There was so much she wanted to do before meeting Sebastian, and she had only a little time. She wanted to wear a beautiful dress, to style her hair, to dust just a bit of makeup on. At the same time, she didn’t want to overdo it, to tip him off to her feelings.
Nerves set in as Kate stands in front of a full-length mirror, suddenly feeling as though it looks like she is trying too hard. The silken crimson dress is more appropriate for an elegant formal dinner at someone’s home. We’re going to the Three Broomsticks, for Merlin’s sake! Kate huffs, unbuttoning the dress quickly and stepping out of it as it falls to the floor.
She surveys her undergarments, then shakes her head. Why the hell am I even thinking about my corset? He will not see it!
Kate rushes into her closet, trying to find a more casual dress, one that is appropriate for walking around Hogsmeade during the day. She settles on a pale yellow dress embroidered with tiny white flowers. As she fastens all of the buttons, she rehearses in her mind what she will say when Sebastian inevitably asks if she could accept him as a lover.
Several minutes later, Kate angrily tries to get her hair to cooperate with so little time left. She styles her hair half pulled back, half down, tying a white ribbon around the little ponytail on the back of her head for a feminine touch.
Glancing at the clock, she is painfully aware she has to leave. Now, she doesn't have enough time to walk there, which was her plan. She’ll have to apparate.
Kate hurries towards her front door but stops as she sees the bouquet once more. She takes a moment to smell the sweet flowers, sighing in delight. What a lovely message they convey.
She calms herself, thinking as clearly as she can about the entrance to the Three Broomsticks, and suddenly, she is there. Approaching and opening the doors breathlessly, she gathers all of her courage. As Kate’s eyes adjust to the dim lighting of the pub, she searches for Sebastian. Eventually, she spots him sitting in a corner, intently reading a book.
Kate’s breath hitches as Sebastian’s brown eyes flick up to hers.

Tumblr media
I'm home, I found you some new flowers. Hope you like them.
Inktober Day 6: Bouquet
I also do enjoy flower symbolism. (Based on quick Google searches)
Daisies: Loyalty/Loyal love; can also represent keeping a secret between friends

Hi Dev! How did you come up with the boys cute flower tags?

symbol of creativity, energy, resilience, forgiveness, and vitality
all: garden of eden
this one doesn’t really have any significance. i’m not religious but the garden of eden is well known and it goes along with the flower/plant/garden scheme i’ve got going so :))

flower symbolism makes me very very happy. i have no idea why but it makes something in my brain work.
Started in Europe
Conflicting accounts for who was first to write
1. Catherine H. in 1839 “The Language of Flowers” found in her book on the language of flowers, Flora’s Lexicon
Based on the LOF in Victorian England, France, and America
2. Mme. Louise Cortambert (pseudonym “Charlotte de Latour”) in her book “Le 8Langage des fleurs” which translates to The Language of flowers.
LOF is based on folklore, literature, mythology, religion, and the plant's physical characteristics.
Symbolic association from Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Greek, and Roman cultures/mythology/religion
Literature from Shakespear
Turkish language of flowers and objects (Selam)
Taking Turkish words for different flowers and finding which other words they can rhyme with and making a sentence out of it. (Armonde (Pear) rhymes with omonde (hope) so a rhyme for these two words can be Armonde - Wer banna bir omonde (Pear - Let me not despair)
The Turkish language came to Europe through two people, Seigneur Aubry de la Mattraye and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. Husband and wife. They were Turkish embassies that went before the court of Charles XII of Sweden and shared the language of objects and in this case flowers.
Physical characteristics (root, stem, leaf, bloom?, and seed
Chrysanthemum/mums: A symbol of death and mourning, but also support and encouragement
Found in east Asia in grasslands, mountain slopes, riversides, fields, and seashores
In Europe, it means death because it was a commonly used flower to decorate graves in the 1700s. Asian Countries have a more positive meaning, used for family seals and pottery. (represents the turning of the seasons) November birth flower
Forget-me-nots: It can be used to symbolize remembrance – both during a parting or after death (bright blue flowers)
Europe, Asia, and Australia in wood/boggy areas
German folktale, where a dying knight threw flowers at his lady and said forget-me-not, the lady wore the flowers forever.
Hyacinth: Sorrow, I am sorry. Please forgive me.

Tbhk volume 15 cover flower symbolism💮
Volume 15 had some very important flower symbolism so here is my post on it, I love flower language a lot, and have only made one other post about it so here we go again
Tumblr media
volume 15 cover. | not special edition.
volume fifteen takes place after the severance and Nene, Kou, and Akane are dealing with the back lash.
the flowers shown are
Daffodils
and Marigolds
apologies if I mess up or miss anything this is done by pure research by myself.
•°Daffodils~💛
Daffodils are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, so they represent new beginnings, and the manga isn't far off from spring in the beginning to now. they represent forgiveness and rebirth.
Daffodils are also used for uncertain love, chivalry, or respect, like the respect shown in the volume between our cast.
they also mean resilience and hope for anew. even through storms Daffodils would hold strong, and still look just as bright as before. they can also represent self love or a journey towards it.
Daffodils symbolize memories similar to how we see them miss what they no longer have. Nene having the memories of Aoi and Hanako. and Akane, although we haven't gotten much on Kou, he seems to have a lot of feelings regarding this and is shown on the cover.
I couldn't say I could connect the Greek myth of Narcissus but I didn't look too much into it so I don't really know. (although I know Narcissus are TECHNICALLY not Daffodils but are almost the same and the breed/genre of the plant flower basically meet so...)
orange Daffodils represent courage to bypass the hardships, wish for wellness, enthusiasm, friendship or a relationship of some kind, and overcome a new challenge. it can also represent betrayal, or the betrayal Jesus had before his Crusifixition
•°Marigolds~🧡
Marigolds are used as offerings to mother Mary instead of coins on her alter, they can be given to the dead as an offering. and are derived from the straight sentence "Mary's gold". and since these can be related to gold or riches, Victorian symbolism can also mean "a want for riches" or a desire for something.
Marigolds are related to many cultures. and in most of those cultures they are used to symbolize the sun or the powerful strength of a God ect. also linked to the powerful light that lives within a person, their own strength, or passion.
Marigolds can also mean despaired love, or hopeless love. it can be used for someone that lost the person they love, wether through death or a breakup, maybe a rejection, so they're not the best gift flower. it can be given to the dead as an act of rememberance or love. so they can be commonly found at grave sights!
as we all know orange can represent true happiness, a bond, trust, energy, love (of every kind) and strong emotions, when it comes to emotions it doesn't necessarily have to be good ones, it could be anger, and that would be portrayed as orange.
Marigolds were also used for herbs and medicine. and were taken across sea quite a lot. so Marigolds were used to help being struck by lightning. also given or used for "one who wishes to cross a body of water safely" similar to our gang going to cross the far shore and wanting too in the navigation arc.
they even naturally grow in wet habitats and find it the most natural place. they represent a want for change.
Marigolds are also a symbol of hope and as much as they can be a questionable gift, are perfect for those who are grieving over a lost loved one. it is a strong sign of comfort in Japan.
also latin for "little clock" I believe? which may corespond to how much time Nene has left on her life span, or the amount of time left to go to the far shore.
in Mexico they are very important to The Day of the Dead. Marigolds are believed to draw in the spirits of the Dead with their vibrant colors, and are known as an honorable flower for mourning and the dead.
Marigold flowers are the official flower of a Sagittarius, I won't go on about Zodiac signs but yk
they are also the official October flower.
———
and both these flowers are amazing for Chinese new years, so it could be representing the festival arc considering that was the peak of all the characters and how happier they were. and both flowers represent good fortune and luck, mainly in Chinese culture.
okay that's all for this I hope this was okay I know it's generic and has kinda been done before but I recently got the translation of volume fifteen and have already been thinking about making a post on the cover
but this wasn't anything too fancy but whatever hope you enjoyed♡

Damian and Skia has different surnames, well that's odd isn't it?
Skia Narc. Narc from Narcissus which means daffodil. Daffodil symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings, often they're also seen to represent inspiration, forgiveness, and creativity. Skia is a witty and often causes mischief which reflects the "inspiration and creativity", "rebirth and new beginning" can also represent on how she made a big leap to fix her attitude, "forgiveness" represents her character that no matter how bad she did she will always seek for forgiveness
Damian Gratia. Gratia has many meanings, starting from "grace", "thanks", "goodwill", "gratitude", etc. "Grace" is how he carries himself despite his more fiery heart he will always be gentle, "goodwill" represents his true nature because no matter what's the scenario is he will always do things for the sake of good, "gratitude" he's a modest person and doesn't have much back in his younger life but always grateful that he has someone to be there for him. If he's represented as a flower like his sister, that would be Hydrangea which symbolizes "thankfulness", it reflects on how many times hardships always rock slides his life, whether it from his own temper or nature, he will always give his thanks to anything that lifts him up
Now forgiveness and thankfulness, those are what revolves between these siblings. Their names are virtuous but their actions may say otherwise, Skia sometimes resolves conflict in the most unnerving way as Damian often has grudges on something, but this won't change what they actually are at heart. And the theme of Forgiveness | Thankfulness...
Will show how I orchestrate Volo and Makoto's relationship
And did you know, Ignos means "forgive"
-🦀 anon
😢
that's so precious. you've really thought this all out, i'm so impressed!! i wish my characters were even half as well thought out as yours are!!
forgiveness and thankfulness are two interesting virtues to have the twins represent, but i can see that they do. with igno meaning "forgive" as well, it aligns with his character arc very well
i'm curious about makoto and volo tho! can't wait to see what's next!!

Round 1; A bouquet of poppies, daffodils, daisies, ivy, and purple hyacinths Vs A bouquet of gloriosa (flame lily), veronica, jasione, jacaranda, cyclamen, jasmine and freesia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you know who they are, or are pretty sure of it, please don't tell until this poll has ended!
First, let's talk about the bouquet of poppies, daffodils, daisies, ivy, and purple hyacinths
Meaning and why they were chosen: -The poppies can represent eternal sleep and/or imagination. They're also canonically important to the character. -Daffodils can represent unequaled love and "you’re the only one, the sun is always shining when I’m with you". -Daisies represent loyal love. -Ivy represents wedded love, fidelity, and affection. -Purple hyacinths mean 'i am sorry', 'forgive me', and sorrow. Description: He got married, not for long though, as his spouse kicked the bucket sooner than they should've. All things considered they were a sweet couple. After the death, the rest of his life was mostly grieving. And some murder. You know how it is <3. They do eventually reunite, after death ofc. Before the whole 'damn my spouse just fucking died' he was the more responsible one, thought not by much tbh. He engaged in less shenanigans than his spouse, and the shenanigans HE partook in didnt end with his death so thats 1-0 on his spouse. Much better at situations than his spouse, but chaos comes for us all. About 50% of that chaos was courtesy of the shit his spouse did. Him and his spouse are both uniquely doomed by the narrative, with each other playing a big part in their respective ends. He blames himself for his spouse's death, pinning it as his fault for not protecting them.

Now, let's talk about the bouquet of gloriosa (flame lily), veronica, jasione, jacaranda, cyclamen, jasmine and freesia
Meaning and why they were chosen: Gloriosa (flame lily), for its symbolism of passion, pride, and honor, as he is a deeply idealistic person who cares so much about doing the right thing, walks the walk, and takes pride in his values. Also, because of the name; fire is an element relevant to him. Veronica, for faithfulness and devotion, especially in a religious context (though the religious context of the flower’s namesake is decidedly different from that of this character). Jasione, for justice, as he is committed to the execution of justice and ultimately breaking cycles of unjust violence, even though he is often trapped between a rock and hard place. With the task of breaking the cycle of revenge (be it on a racial or religious or familial basis; overall it’s all three) comes the understanding that all who came before and tried, failed to solve the rift and got more people killed—some of them even pressured him into committing injustice on their behalf— but he’s not going to give up or stop trying to figure out what justice actually is. Jacaranda, for its symbolism of wealth, knowledge, and rebirth; wealth because he is rich and privileged (in some ways), both wealth and knowledge because he is an economics nerd, and rebirth because he sacrifices one element of himself to accept another. Rebirth also applies in that when his life is uprooted by tragedy and his being made a scapegoat, he makes the most of it and crafts a decent life for himself far from home, giving back to his new community and cultivating new interests. It also symbolizes wisdom and even if he isn’t, uh, wise per se, he’s working on it. Cyclamens, for sincerity, religious devotion (it bears repeating), resignation, reserved love, and lasting feelings. His love for another, tender though it is, is often across significant emotional barriers, barriers of other relationships, and even great physical separation that was forced upon him for years on end. He is by far the most sincere of a duplicitous lot and is sometimes guessed to be even trickier for his earnest-seeming demeanor, but that’s just how he truly is and it can’t be corrupted away. Jasmine, for purity, modesty, and simplicity; he tries to live a modest life in accordance with his religion. Freesia, for trust and innocence; he deserves to be trusted, and suffers from the innocent youthful naivety of thinking his ideals can easily be put into practice if he just takes action Description: A bit of a zealot for a good cause, grows out of black-and-white thinking, and gets a lot more tired because the world is full of tribalism and hate, but he is still so sweet. The younger son of a loving yet terribly messed-up family that unfortunately isn’t the only such family involved. So many people he interacts with get bad vibes from him (to the extent that one guy who worked with him poisons him on the basis of distaste, against all practicality), but that’s seriously not his fault. He can be very intense though. On a completely irrelevant note, he learns that gay people exist when he’s in his 20s and is greatly surprised, even though he has lived with gay people his entire life.

Flowers For Romance
Flowers are entwined with romance for centuries, with each one conveying a symbolic message that words can't. Whether you're trying to sweep someone off their feet or show them your love, the right flower can say it all.
Roses are always a classic choice, representing romance and passionate love. But don't be afraid to try pink or white roses for a more unique romantic gesture.
Tulips
During the earliest stages of flowers for Romance, overly showy flowers can come across as too much. That’s why dainty and delicate blooms such as tulips are the perfect choice. These lovely little beauties symbolize daintiness and elegance and come in a wide range of soothing colors. The white tulip is often associated with forgiveness, apology, purity, and honour.
Tumblr media
The more vibrant red tulip represents passion and deep love. It is a reminder of the Persian legend of Farhad and Shirin, two lovers who were condemned to die but refused to part. The pink tulip expresses a feeling of gratitude.
For those who prefer a more exotic option, the Bird of Paradise is a lovely romantic flower that symbolizes paradise, magnificence, and royality. However, this rare flower is a bit harder to find outside of its native climates. So it may be more appropriate to gift this beautiful flower in a longer and more established relationship, for special occasions such as anniversaries.
Alstroemeria
Affectionately known as Peruvian lilies, these long-lasting blooms symbolise devotion and friendship. When paired with red roses, the soft pink of alstroemeria creates a balanced depiction of love, highlighting traits like loyalty and companionship alongside passion and desire.
This flower grows easily in gardens and containers. It produces long stems that make them great for bouquets and cut flowers. Unlike many true lilies, alstroemeria can be grown in colder climates as well, as long as the plants are mulched during winter to protect them from frost.
The flowers are often used in wedding designs, as they offer a variety of colors and can be found in bulk. DIY brides enjoy incorporating alstroemeria into their floral arrangements, including bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres and arch arrangements. It also makes a great filler for bud vases and mason jars, and can be found in many color combinations to complement any wedding theme. Alstroemeria contains tulipalin, a toxin that can cause a poison-ivy-like reaction in some people, so wear gloves when handling them.
Bird of Paradise
The tropical bird of paradise plant (Strelitzia juncea) resembles birds in flight, and its blooms are an ideal symbol for a relationship that’s full of joy and optimism. Other perfect flowers for romance include red roses, which signify eternal love, and tulips, which symbolize purity and devotion. Daffodils, meanwhile, convey new beginnings and soul-deep love.
This flower is native to South Africa and grows best in USDA zones 10 and 11. It can be grown outdoors in these climates, but it’s easier to grow indoors if you live in areas where temperatures scald the plants.
Like ferns, bird-of-paradise plants thrive in bright but indirect sunlight. Water them only when the soil feels dry, and use a moisture meter to avoid overwatering. Fertilize this tropical beauty every three months to encourage abundant blooms. Prune dead leaves and flower stalks to keep the plant looking tidy and reduce fungal problems.
Orchids
Orchids exude beauty and elegance and are a popular choice for Perfection flowers bouquets. They can be found in a wide range of colors, from soft lilac to rich eggplant and all shades in between. Orchids are believed to symbolize love, romance and fertility. They also represent strength, resilience and inner beauty.
Another aphrodisiac flower, roses represent passionate and unconditional love. They are also known to be symbols of a happy marriage and enduring affection.
If you’re in the early stages of a new relationship, overly showy flowers might come across as too much too soon. In that case, dainty flowers like asters may be a better option. Aster flowers symbolize grace and femininity, as well as small beginnings and love talismans.
If your loved one loves horticulture, they might appreciate a lush purple orchid. This exotic bloom carries the meaning of regality, admiration and respect and is often given as a 28th wedding anniversary gift to mark the longevity of a marriage.
