In recent months, Instagram has been working on and testing algorithm updates. Some experts call it a TikTokization stage, as Instagram is becoming more and more like TikTok. This is particularly challenging for creators and business owners. In fact, many are struggling now with dwindling natural reach and engagement. Reels, which did particularly well organically, seem to have slowed down in their organic efforts. Many have struggled in an effort to override the Instagram algorithm and stay active on the platform. If you are one of them, here are 8 tips for you.

1. Invest more in videos

You may have noticed that of late your Insta feed is filled with videos; there’s a reason why! Videos have dominated the order on Instagram for quite a while now and the trend is expected to increase in the near term. Therefore, you should make videos your primary focus. Your amount of video content on IG should increase. If you don't already, start focusing a little more on producing videos and marketing them.

2. Post stories daily

5. Be consistent

Your frequency of publishing should not only be when you are ready or when you feel like it. Rather there has to be a routine and consistency in your marketing plan. So if you have decided to post 2 posts per week, stick to it. It may not seem much but it establishes credibility in the eyes of your potential audience and also helps you stay abreast of the Instagram algorithm.

6. Thoughtful use of hashtags

Hashtags are not dead and gone but their traction has decreased as of late. This doesn’t mean that you should stop using them altogether but use them thoughtfully and sparingly so as to avoid shadow banning. Anywhere between 8 to 10 is a good number but of course, it will depend on your field or niche.

7. Engage with comments

Social media is an extended way of communicating and two-way communication drives reach and builds relationships. So your only aim should not be increasing your followers; you should also focus on meaningfully engaging with them and nurturing those leads.

8. DM networking

Don’t be one of those brands that do not reply to private, direct messages. Respond to those relevant queries. Additionally, send messages to people from your field, commenting about their posts or stories or seeking collaborations. This a small message for you, a large step for your brand!
