I'm kind of obsessed with the fact that Gilmore Girls was the first show Christian and Sutton binge-watched together. They saw it, got obsessed, and then had to wait for the DVDs to come out so they could buy it and watch it. (What a time!)
Then Sutton worked with Amy on Bunheads and became friends. So when the Gilmore revival was happening, Amy and Dan went out for dinner with Sutton and her husband Ted and Amy asked if she wanted to be in it, and Sutton asked if Christian could be in it too. And Dan said, yep, already written.
I know Gilmore Girls fans think it's a lot of time for two random characters, and I agree, but as a broadway fan, it's kinda adorable.
I love it when they work together.
They decided they were better as friends and got divorced, but then the internet decided that was too boring and decided to make up rumors about how they had chemistry with their co-stars instead. Through it all, they're still friends who care about and support each other!
(And the internet still freaks when they work together even though they either casted each other or were asked for approval in advance.)
And I love Sally talking about why everyone has to talk fast on this show.

I’m definitely going to watch the show until the very end because I’ve watched from the beginning but it still hasn’t stopped me from feeling frustrated with how S5 is going and I’m sure heading towards.
I could give a list of why I’m feeling like I’m feeling but I’m too tired, so I shan’t. Just know that this show has been one of my all time favourites, at least up until last season (and certainly after watching this season 🤦♀️).
So, because of this, it’s spurred me on to finally write/flesh-out an idea I had when I was about 15/16/17, long before TMMM even existed.
I don’t know if it’ll be any good in the end but I’m excited that after not feeling I could write anything for several years, I’m trying to give myself pep talks that I can…and I will! I just lack the confidence really.
Anyway, one of my uncertainties towards writing this particular idea/story of mine, is because it’s very similar to the show. There’s a lot to it that’s different (and I’m trying with new ideas, to add as many of these differences into it as possible), so it doesn’t seem like I’m copying the show because I’m not (it was an idea I had back in the late 00’s) but I just didn’t want to start something, if anyone who was familiar with TMMM would say I was copying the writing.
The similarity is, is that it’s about a young woman in 60’s London, who changes the momentum of her life (because of external factors) and turns herself towards a career in comedy (I did toy with other career changes but a comedian worked the best with what I had envisioned).
There are plenty of differences but this sole similarity is a pretty big one.
Also, a more recent idea, which has flared up even stronger because of 5x01, was including a friendship with a male fellow comedian, that ends on a much happier note than the show will end up having. Originally, it was a platonic female friendship between two female comedians/people in the business but inspired by the epic chemistry of Midge and Lenny (or should I say, the steering forces behind them, Rachel and Luke), I decided to create a friendship based on theirs instead (but with a happier ending).
Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble and apologies for any accidental swapping of tenses with this, I just needed to get this down, however and whatever way my brain needed it to be.

Day 1.
Oh how I would love to be as good as Neil Gaiman, Amy Sherman-Palladino or Dan Fogelman. They are the ones who created my latest favourite things in both literature and television. Their command of word is astonishing. They make me laugh and cry the most lately. They have been for a long time now. Of course, my love for language comes from many others, and my adoration of wit isn't limited by English-speaking authors only. But these three are the newest representation of what I consider funny, witty, and close to my heart. If I see something new they’ve done, I immediately run to read and/or watch it. Never once was I disappointed so far. Always a pleasure, and the excitement is akin to entering a toy shop as a five-year-old.

Okay, after reading @frazzledsoul Literati band AU, I was tempted to write a proposal for a Literati AU with both Jess and Rory as screenwriters.
So, I wanted to pay homage to different screenwriting couples (Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich, Dan Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino, and Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumchuch) and establish Jess as a novelist turned screenwriter and Rory as a passionate screenwriter wanting to have her big break.
They first meet in the 20s, writing a screenplay on Jess's bestselling work and fall in love, but then Jess marries an actress, leaving Rory heartbroken. She starts writing many movies which gain her immense recognition, and she eventually moves to London and reconnects with Logan, eventually marrying him. I wanted to pay homage to couples who marry young but eventually divorce, especially Hollywood couples. The examples are many but, maybe I'll write it in a reblog.
Eventually Jess and Rory reconnect when they're older and are chosen to work on a reboot of The Thin Man, which gains a lot of backlash (like Greta Gerwig when Barbie was first announced) but eventually they attempt to fix their relationship and fall in love again, eventually marrying once the movie is released (which is a hit, like Barbie). This is in homage to many couples who reconnect eventually (like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez or Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine).

Dear President Biden,
We are heartened by Friday’s release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan and by today’s release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.
But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people, including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death. They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered - women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded.
Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group’s founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.
We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this moment, freedom for the hostages.
We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. So occasionally I come across an interesting claim/conspiracy theory on this website
This theory is that Jess was supposed to be in season 7 of Gilmore Girls, but after the Palladinos left Milo boycotted the show and refused to show up for guest appearances. Fair enough, even though Milo was doing 22 episodes a year for Heroes on another network at the time and probably didn’t have a lot of time anyway (sometimes rival networks let their stars do guest appearances on other networks and sometimes they don’t). Amy showed up for Milo’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony last year and he credited her in his speech and she wrote a role for him in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Maybe loyalty did explain why he didn’t show up, even if it wasn’t the only factor.
However, the weirdest part of the theory is not that he didn’t show up during that year, but that the original season 6 finale was not Lorelai running to Christopher and sleeping with him two minutes after giving Luke an ultimatum, but that Rory was going to show up in Philadelphia instead. ASP allegedly switched the endings after her contract talks fell through.
I don’t know if it was possible to do this. According to this interview the Palladinos did with Michael Ausiello, they had decided to walk away by April 26. The season 6 finale aired two weeks later on May 6. Was it possible to change the endings at that time? Would they have been able to do so? Hell if I know. However, some quotes from that article indicate they probably didn’t intend for it to originally be Rory showing up on her ex’s door instead of Lorelai.
Ausiello: Based on the mail I've been reading, a lot of fans don't buy the April obstacle. As you know, they were pissed off before she ever appeared on the screen. And at the time, you asked them to have a little faith. So, cut to April 24: April has driven a wedge between Luke and Lorelai. If the spoilers are to be believed (SPOILER ALERT), Lorelai will end up in Christopher's bed in the finale, and now you guys are leaving. It looks like you asked them to have faith, then you split Luke and Lorelai up, threw her in bed with Christopher, and quit. What do you have to say to that?
[ Crickets]
Dan: I've got nothing to say to that.
Amy: Yeah, that's something. You know what, that's a good story line. We should use that.
Dan: You know, in the very beginning of the series, in the first year with Alexis Bledel with that beautiful baby face as Rory, if we had said in three years we're going to have this girl lose her virginity to a married man, our heads would've been chopped off, put on pikes and paraded around Burbank.
Amy: Which Warner. Bros. is still negotiating for, by the way. [ Laughs]
Dan: I'm basically repeating what Amy said: We try to follow the characters and we also try to make it as interesting as possible. And I've always felt with spoilers, a lot of people hear about a plot point seven episodes down the line without taking into account what happens in the episodes in between now and then. I've always sort of been astonished by that. That's why I say if in the first year you had heard that [about Rory], a lot of people would have turned off their televisions like, "This is going to turn into a soap opera." And that was a very controversial story line for us.
That really doesn’t sound like they had another ending planned in the first place. Also, they’re being total assholes about this plot point, but that’s another issue.
They also had this to say about Matt Czuchry.
But when you see stuff happening, and when scenes and moments happen that you didn't think could happen before, and when you add a kid like Matt Czuchry to the show and all of a sudden it brings in different layers and different stories and different textures, it's like, it doesn't have to end.
It certainly doesn’t sound to me that they were intending to relegate Logan to the background in that hypothetical ASP-penned seventh season, as he was still a main cast member.
For the record, I hate, hate, HATE that Lorelai ghosted Luke for several days, threw an enormous temper tantrum in the street in which she demanded to be placed at a higher priority than his child (how do you think it would have gone if it went the other way?) and then ran off to screw Christopher when she didn’t get the answer she wanted. It was malicious, cruel, and massively damaging to everyone involved and definitely indicated she was not ready to make major life decisions. However, Luke and Lorelai’s relationship had been deteriorating for months and Christopher was set up as a viable alternative. ASP even has him play Prince Charming and take Lorelai as a date to a wedding of her fiance’s employee just so she can try to sell him to us as chivalrous. I honestly believe if Luke and Lorelai had just sat down and had a normal conversation like grown ups and called a custody lawyer then this never would have happened, but that’s not the way it went. Unfortunately, it wasn’t surprising.
Rory giving up on Logan and running off to hook up with Jess didn’t have the same set-up. In the first place, she had already pulled this shit a few weeks before when she takes Logan back after finding out about the bridesmaids but is still angry with him, goes off to visit Jess when Logan is out of town, lets him believe she is single, kisses him, and then comes clean and says she can’t go through with it because she still loves Logan. They both acknowledge that what she did is fucked-up, that Jess doesn’t deserve to be treated like that, and she apologizes and leaves. Then Logan almost dies and she determines she’s going to stand by him and is sad to see him leave the country.
Given all that had happened a few weeks earlier, why would Rory then run off to cheat with Jess again when both of them know that he is unwilling to engage in that with her and she’s sorry that she tried to use him before? Why would she do that to Logan, who she went back to? Why would this at all be something anyone would want to happen for all three people involved, and why wouldn’t Jess tell her to fuck off if she tries to make him her sidepiece for the third time?
It just sounds like a nightmare scenario for all three of them. Even if Rory wanted to do that, I have to believe that at this stage of her life she would care enough about Jess not to do that to him (or to Logan, who she should probably break up with if she keeps trying to cheat on him) and she would respect his boundaries in this way.
Because in a show with so much cheating and love triangle shenanigans, Jess is one of the few characters who has the principles to stay out of the fray. Rory flirts with him for a year and even visits him alone in New York, but he doesn’t try to initiate anything. She’s the one who kisses him, before ignoring him for months and refusing to break up with her boyfriend. When she gets jealous of his new girlfriend, he reminds her she’s got no right to his time or company after the way she acted. When Dean breaks up with her, he refuses to touch her until he’s broken things off with Shane first. And as mentioned before, he doesn’t initiate anything when she comes to see him until he seemingly confirms she is available.
Who else lives up to these kinds of standards? Rory doesn’t. Lorelai doesn’t. Christopher doesn’t. Dean doesn’t. Paris doesn’t. Logan certainly doesn’t. Even Richard with his decades of secret lunches with Pennilyn Lott crosses the line. Why do people want to take that way from one of the few characters who won’t get involved in this shit? Let the man keep his dignity. It’s season 6. Almost everyone else has none left.
I suppose in an alternate scenario Rory could have broken up with Logan and then showed up on Jess’s door, but none of her behavior indicated she was intending on doing that and since Matt was a main cast member and Milo wasn’t, it probably wasn’t going to happen this way.
So since we’ve determined that I think Rory showing up on Jess’s door while still with Logan is a horrible idea, let me illustrate two alternate scenarios where Jess shows up in S7.
Alternate Scenario 1: Logan and Rory remain in a stable relationship. Jess shows up when his sister is born. I think you could do a lot with this even if he never interacts with Rory: he has this new sibling, who is going to be raised in the stable environment that he never had, while Luke is starting to realize how badly he messed up with Lorelai and starting to fight for custody of April. There’s a lot to unpack here just with his family alone (maybe he writes a reference letter for the custody trial, too). However, across town Rory has her own much younger half sister living in her house, in the nuclear family she never had as a child, and yet she knows things are not exactly right with her parents marriage. What a dilemma for them to bond over (platonically). If everything still happens the way it did in the OG season 7, the door is open for a possible relationship between them at the end of the story. Milo keeps his main gig, there’s an entire season with no cheating, and everyone keeps their dignity. Sounds beautiful to me.
Alternate Scenario 2: Rory and Logan do not have a stable relationship, and Logan never leaves the life that was planned for him. I suppose they would have to be somewhat involved for most of the season, as the show really isn’t interested in Logan having an arc outside of its effect on Rory (season 7 tries, but it still mostly boils down to how it’s going to affect her). I guess Jess would have to emerge as more of an alternative in this scenario, but nothing physically happens until she’s parted with Logan. I guess this is more problematic overall, but it definitely seems preferable to her trying to cheat on Logan with Jess twice in a month after she’s well aware that she’s mistreating both of them by doing this.
I guess this scenarios aren’t perfect, but they seem better to me than what so many fans wanted to happen. I do wish for Milo and Jess’ sake that he had gotten more closure in the OS, but it wasn’t to be. And of course, I wish that season 6 had not ended the way that it did in the first place.

Gilmores prove life doesn’t end after 40

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — There's a certain irony in the fact that the WB — the network that targets teens and twentysomethings — has the two most believable, most well-rounded characters in their 60s on television.
And Richard and Emily Gilmore, as portrayed by 61-year-old Edward Herrmann and 60-year-old Kelly Bishop, have been an integral part of "The Gilmore Girls" since the show began 100 episodes ago.
"I know the WB is known as a young network and viewed, I think, a little bit too much that way," Bishop said. "This show is multigenerational. And, frankly, it's not about my own ego, but I wouldn't be inclined to watch this show as a viewer if it weren't for us, because I'm going to identify with an older person. I'm not going to be watching shows about teenagers because I've been there, done that."
In a medium that places such a high value on youth, the elder Gilmores are such an anomaly they're almost alone.
Herrmann replied with humor to questions about his "elder" status. "Let me get out of my wheelchair and dance," he said, affecting a truly elderly voice.
"That's kind of wonderful, too, that we're still alive," Bishop said. "And, what, 60 is the new 30, right?"
Well, maybe, but Richard and Emily have never had to act like teenagers to get airtime on "Gilmore Girls." They're not simply saccharin grandparents, they're complicated people living imperfect lives.
"It's interesting. It's wonderful," Herrmann said. "I mean, these people are lively. You don't die after the age of 40."
The Emmy-winning actor said the show's writers have "done a wonderful job with Richard."
"He's a fellow who's gone through a number of changes. . . . There have been a lot of plot lines for him, which I find true to life. So I haven't been bored at all."
The premise of the show is that their daughter, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), got pregnant when she was 16 and decided to keep and raise the baby on her own. Which, not surprisingly, drove a wedge between her and her parents.
A wedge that remained until Lorelai's daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), was a teenager and Lorelai had to turn to her wealthy parents for financial help to send Rory to private school. That reopened the daughter-parents relationship and gave Richard and Emily their first chance to really get to know their granddaughter, but it's a rift that's never been entirely healed.
"What I look for at the end of the tunnel is the reconciliation between (Richard and Lorelai) in some way," Herrmann said. But when he has raised the issue with creator/executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino, "She said, 'Not yet. We can't. There's a wonderful tension between the two that you want to try to maintain.'
"So it's great fun. And, actually, (executive producers) Amy (Sherman-Palladino) and Dan (Palladino) have given us really good stuff to do this year."
Good stuff that culminates Tuesday (7 p.m., Ch. 30) as Richard and Emily renew their wedding vows. The couple, married almost four decades, have been separated since last season. Not separated by much — Richard moved into the pool house — but their relationship had deteriorated badly.
"I love the idea because I think that those of you who are in long-term relationships will realize that you have, of course, that initial love/lust and all that," Bishop said, "and then it settles down. And then it kind of hits a point sometimes in a relationship where you're really bored with the other person and kind of think, hmmmm.
"And then out of no place and for no particular reason . . . you look at the person one day and you are so in love with them all over again."
It made for some great material for Bishop and Herrmann. Over the 99 previous episodes, they've done comedy, they've done drama, they've had surprises and they've always come across as real.
"The palette is rich. There's a lot of stuff to talk about," Herrmann said.
"I mean, almost to slapstick," Bishop said. "I finally got to do physical comedy climbing out of the basement window. (Richard accidentally locked Emily in.) That was so much fun."
And she loves playing a woman who's not exactly a caring, nurturing mother/grandmother. Emily Gilmore loves Lorelai and Rory, but she expresses that love in a manipulative way that drives her daughter crazy.
She's at it again in the 100th episode, using Rory's father, Christopher (David Sutcliffe), to try to end Lorelai's romance with Luke (Scott Patterson) — a relationship she doesn't approve of.
"I've gotten some really nice, vicious things to say to people," Bishop said, "which I always enjoy. . . . She's a piece of work, but, yeah, I had a lot of fun this year. Amy gave me some really nasty things to say."
Sherman-Palladino is amused at how Bishop — "one of the nicest people in the world" — takes so much joy in playing Emily, who is not. "I just love that she's so excited that she gets to be horrible to people."
But Bishop said she doesn't always understand viewers' reactions to the character.
"I'm surprised. People seem to really like her. And I haven't figured that out yet, because I think she's just horrible," she said. "I love playing her because she's so mean.
"And every once in a while people say they identify with her and I say, 'Why? I'm glad you're enjoying my performance, but you don't have to like Emily. Because I don't particularly like her. I like playing her.' "

The curtains have closed on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and I’ve been basking in the warm glow of relief since it aired that they not only stuck the landing with the finale, but created one of my favorite final episodes of all time. And that final scene-! Episode 9 ticked every box I needed: the right amount of resolution and ambiguity, of catharsis and the bittersweet. From beginning to end, Midge knew exactly what she wanted, with all the positives and negatives that happened along the way. I loved that the finale gave me the satisfaction of not just Midge’s arc coming full circle, but for Susie, Joel, Abe, and Rose as well – not only their relationship to Midge, but their growth as people. I also thought Lenny’s character was handled with grace and respect, which was also extremely important. The show didn’t shy away from reality of what he went through, but didn’t indulge, either. I loved seeing the thank you card in the end credits to Kitty Bruce, too. I hadn’t realized that any of Lenny's stand-up material used on the show had to be approved by her, which was great to know.
I was so wary leading up to the finale, as I wondered how it affect the show retroactively. Would it be like American Gods, Westworld, or Killing Eve, where I can still enjoy and recommend the earlier seasons even though I didn’t love the direction that the shows ultimately took? Or would it be like Game of Thrones where the finale was so poor that it retroactively made the earlier seasons unwatchable because everything felt pointless? Thankfully, the end of TMMM didn’t quite end up being either, with S5 being an improvement over S4, and then brought the show to a close with a brilliant finale that made everything worth it.
What a void TMMM leaves behind, too: there’s nothing else quite like it. The rhythmic quality to the dialogue. Those insanely long takes with rapid fire back and forth banter. The lavish and outstanding set, costume design, and hair and make-up. The incredible cinematography. The pitch perfect licensed music.
I'll really miss the show's excellent cast. The show wouldn’t have worked if not for core of Rachel Brosnahan as Midge, who was superb from beginning to end. It was incredible discovering that Alex Borstein was not only a brilliant comedian and writer, but a heart shatteringly good dramatic actor was well. The endless joy of the titan that is Tony Shalhoub, always having incredibly chemistry with every scene partner. Kevin Pollak and Caroline Aaron playing characters that have you tearing your hair out in one moment in frustration and howling with laughter in the next. TMMM was my introduction to Marin Hinkle and Stephanie Hsu, who both always absolutely astonished and captivated. Listening to either of them in a scene was music to the ears with impeccable timing of delivering dialogue. There’s also Luke Kirby being so damn good he took a character that was potentially going to be a one-off for a scene and became a series staple. Kudos Michael Zegen as Joel, who brought sincerity and warmth to a complicated character from beginning to end. And that’s only the main cast, not counting the breadth of talented actors who were recurring or in one-off scenes.
And of course, no one has anything to work without a talented team of writers, led by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino. I had my frustrations with S4 and aspects S5, but I'm still grateful for it all, and for ending the show on a high. (…though can someone just let ASP do a musical? For everyone’s sakes. Said with affection.) Finding out TMMM got one less season from Amazon than planned definitely made a few aspects of S5 make more sense. I’m curious what the original six season plan was, but I ultimately feel like five seasons is the perfect amount for a such a character driven show as TMMM.
On a personal note, it wasn’t until the last few episodes were airing that I realized how big a loss TMMM ending was going to be for me. I can’t remember the last show that has been so near and dear to me for so many years. I can't believe it started in 2017! It's rare I catch a show from when the first episode airs to the end. Watching S1 feels like a lifetime ago, and so much has changed in my life since. To compound this, TMMM was a special show I got to enjoy with family as well – a rare case of our tastes aligning, with the joy of sometimes getting to watch it together if life and timing worked out. I’ll always have extremely fond memories of savoring S2 and the hilarity of the Catskills with my mother. It was a brief moment of respite in an otherwise extremely stressful year.
With S5 coming to a close, I can comfortably say The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of my all-time favorite television series. It wasn’t a flawless run, but few shows are -- and the highs are incredible and rarely matched. I’m very spoiled that three of my favorite shows in recent years ended with stellar finales that beautifully encapsulated the show: Black Sails, Better Call Saul, and now The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Now that I've contentedly seen Midge give her curtain call, I’m off to watch the Succession finale and catch up on Barry.
It's still crazy to me that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ted Lasso, Succession, and Barry will end within a week of each other. Goddamn.

Mrs Maisel || Gilmore Girls
Okay, so I have a few thoughts after watching the first few episodes of Mrs Maisel and I would really love @stellaluna33 @sagesfandomspot @butchjess @parisgellergf @thegreatwars to chime in, cause what I'm about to say may be unpopular or a little controversial:
Spoilers Ahead if you haven't watched the S5 premiere of Mrs Maisel!!!
So, as we all know: Stephanie Hsu aka Mei Lin, is officially out of the Maisel narrative and here's how she was written out:
She has officially moved to Chicago for her residency, she (presumably- it was hinted at) ended her pregnancy and broke up with Joel.
So, from an interview with ASP and Dan Palladino, this is what she quoted about Mei:
“[She] was brought in for a hot blast [to knock] Joel off of his axis [and] out of the Midge world, she also represent[ed] the next generation of women that would be coming up after Midge, who might be thinking a little ahead of the game, like, ‘Maybe before I get married and have kids, I’m gonna accomplish this.’ Midge was a little late for that. She fell into her ambition. Stephanie was playing those girls in the 60s who are, like, ‘I’ve seen my mom’s way, and maybe I’m going to do it a slightly different way.'”
Another quote from Dan Palladino was:
“We wanted to show Joel with a woman who was even more independent than Midge was. Midge embraced the Betty Crocker myth; Mei did not. So [her] pregnancy [teed up] an inevitable conclusion [for the character].”
So, I was thinking and I know it's controversial but-
What if Rory could have that same thing?
Everyone has assumed that Rory will follow in her mother's footsteps, become a single mom and thrive in a career, but that doesn't have to necessarily be the same.
The fact is that Rory had more support than Lorelai when she got pregnant. And she's on the cusp of something, just like Mei. So she could and it's a big could, that she ends the pregnancy.
IMHO, what would be the bigger kick was if Rory miscarried- that would have even more hurtful effects than if she willingly terminated the pregnancy. Given Rory's character arc and personality, she would definitely take it hard and she would then try to bury her grief by burying herself into her career but then she could push away her family, and have zero interest in romantic relationships till she slowly starts growing out of that shell she went into in the later seasons of Gilmore Girls and AYITL, and also by opening up to, and in my perspective, someone like Jess, who she has a healthy platonic/romantic connection with; and this has to be of the opposite sex, I don't think Lorelai, Lane or Paris would help, given that they are moms and Rory would feel a pang of jealousy and sadness given that she may interpret the miscarriage as a mistake on her part and that it was the universe's way of saying that she's not cut out or fit to be a mom. In this way, she shrinks into Lorelai's shadow and this again amps up the drama.
Anyway, I like that ASP has these kinds of narrative parallels that are shocking but actually work- they are controversial, given that we are in a post Roe vs Wade conflict, but it's very realistic and understandable when you analyse it on a microscopic level.
To conclude, I would like to point out the central theme of Maisel's final season which is summarized in a single quote by Mei as well as the parallels that are set with Midge through the flashforwards of Esther, Ethan and Midge's future:
“I can’t have it all, Joel. If I’m really going to be a doctor then I have to be a doctor.”
And Midge in her 60 minutes interview saying:
"Lucky in life, unlucky in love."
So, it could be the same for Rory and what she chooses: being her mom (continuing what AYITL sets up) or forging her own path (Like Mei) or dealing with something that is her own individual trauma that no one has experienced and she has to deal with it firsthand.
So... Thoughts Please!!!
