~ "Process" exhibition ~
💻 Activity title: "Process" exhibition
💻 Duration and amount: 23th of February, 2 hours
💻 Type of activity: creativity
Tumblr media
~ Activity Description ~
Due to my interest in graphic design, I decided to visit the "Process" exhibition, which was being held at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Museum Day. It was part of a four-year project called "ReCulture: Rebranding of Cultural Institutions of the Western Balkans," which was made within Creative Europe.
Tumblr media
This exhibition was used as a way to unveil the new visual identity of the Museum of Contemporary Art, alongside the visual identities of other cultural institutions that were involved in this project, such as the Trebinje Cultural Center, the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, and the Art Colony Danilovgrad. The goal was to show how modern visual language communicates effectively with the public and how it can elevate the value of the institution’s heritage in both regional and international ways.
Tumblr media
The first part of the exhibition shows many different posters that are different in their design and purpose. The young designers that worked on this exhibition decided to put in their works and showcase the uniqueness and creativity that go into making each one. My favorite one has to be "Schwanensee," which translates to Swan Lake.
Tumblr media
The second part of the exhibition consisted of pictures that showed the process of making it. The design in the picture represents the multiple cultures that came together to make this project a reality. I think it also symbolizes how art is able to bring different cultures closer together. It is the one thread that connects all of us, regardless of our story or background.
Tumblr media
The new visual identity of the Museum of Contemporary Art was presented through these clocks. The choice of a watch represents the passage of time. The ten arms that make up the logo are organized relative to the golden section and get thinner with time. The final arm stops at nine o'clock, and the quarter of an hour that is missing symbolizes what is yet to come.
Tumblr media
What is unique about design as an art form is that, through color, typography, and layout, it has to convey a clear message that is visually communicated to the consumer. This is why, in today's world, graphic design has so much application, which only seems to grow with the development of technology. It allows creativity while also having practical use in the making of a product, which is why I see graphic design as a potential future career path.
~ Reflection ~
This was a very unique exhibition to visit. Not only did I get to enjoy the colorful designs, but I also got to learn more about the process that goes into making them. One thing that I now know for sure is that teamwork is essential when working on bigger projects such as this one. It is also not something to avoid because working with other people can help us grow and even inspire us to undertake challenges we never faced before, whether they be personal or work-related. Either way, I'm very happy with my visit, and I hope to see more exhibitions like this in the near future.
Tumblr media
~ Learning Outcomes ~
💻 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
💻 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
💻 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Montenegro’s early parliamentary elections on Sunday could give the country an effectively-functioning government for the first time in almost three years since the Democratic Party of Socialists, which had been in power for decades, was voted out in August 2020. Since then the small Adriatic country has endured almost constant political turbulence and two governments have been ousted. Podgorica-based University professor Predrag Zenovic said there are expectations that the elections could herald an end to the turmoil. “Montenegro should finally get a stable government that would accelerate its European path and continue reforms,” Zenovic told BIRN. “However, the frequent quarrels in the government in the past three years mean caution is needed, because the new government could be formed by the same parties,” he added.
Opinion polls have suggested that the recently-formed Europe Now movement, centrist blocs and parties representing national minorities could lead the new government. Last October, the Europe Now movement led by former Finance Minister Milojko Spajic won the mayoral races in the capital Podgorica and in the town of Danilovgrad, while in April this year its candidate, the movement’s vice-president Jakov Milatovic, won the presidential elections. Formed last September, the movement quickly emerged as a political rising star, focusing on the economy and reforms. Meanwhile an opposition bloc led by the Democratic Party of Socialists is being tipped to continue its downward trend after its former leader Milo Djukanovic’s defeat in the presidential elections. For the first time in history, the economy was a key point in the parliamentary election campaign, with most parties avoiding decades-old national and religious disputes. In the past, Djukanovic’s bloc often accused the then-opposition of undermining Montenegrin statehood, while most of the opposition parties stressed national and religious issues.
However, Ana Nenezic from the Podgorica-based NGO CEMI said that most of the electoral lists competing in the elections based their campaigns on their party leaders and populist messages. “The leader of a political party or coalition stands in the foreground and is used as the main political brand. But despite the electoral promises, most of the lists didn’t have a prepared plan and strategic vision, and were without concrete political programmes and innovative ideas,” Nenezic told BIRN. Despite expectations that the next government will focus on the economy and on calming ethnic divisions, political analysts claim that it may be less effective without the support of either the pro-Serb or pro-Montenegrin bloc. The next government will also have to deal with high public debt and reforms expected by the EU during accession talks. According to government official data Montenegrin public debt is 70.77 per cent of GDP, while the annual inflation rate is 15 per cent. Fifteen electoral lists are competing for the 81-seat parliament in Sunday’s elections, half of them made up of the parties that won the August 2020 parliamentary elections.
The largest are the centrist Europe Now, led by Spajic, and the opposition Together bloc led by the Democratic Party of Socialists. A centrist coalition of the URA and Democratic Montenegro is being led by outgoing Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic and former parliament speaker Aleksa Becic, while the pro-Serbian For the Future of Montenegro is being led by former Democratic Front leaders Milan Knezevic and Andrija Mandic. Of the national minority parties, the Bosniak Party, two Albanian coalitions and the Croatian Civic Initiative will run for parliament, but also the Social Democratic Party, Movement for Changes and five small civic and pro-Serbian lists. According to the Montenegrin Election Commission, 542,468 Montenegrin citizens are eligible to vote at 1,038 polling stations. The elections will be observed by Montenegrin NGOs, a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and observers from the European Parliament and the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, ODIHR.
