inspired by @broareweabouttoviberightnow ‘s post abt pony still having baby teeth. it’s not as good as i wanted it to be so soz for the abrupt ending 😭😭
Ponyboy did not have a great day at school, thanks for asking. It started off alright at least, but then, in gym class, they played kickball. And Pony’s fairly good at kickball, alright? Between ex-football player Darrel Curtis and Steve always-out-to-get-him Randle, he kind of had to be good at kickball.
Today, though, he didn’t stand a chance. Ponyboy was in charge of rolling the ball to the other team’s kicker and, honestly, no one could have expected the other guy to be such a strong kicker with such shitty aim and, well. The ball hit Ponyboy in the mouth with the force of at least ten Steve Randles.
He blacked out a little, it was a hard hit, alright, sue him, but he remembers everyone crowding around him, asking if he was alright or if he needed to go to the nurse. Ponyboy was fine thankfully, he even felt fine enough to keep playing. When he rolled the ball again, he ran his tongue over his teeth for good luck and he felt it. A loose tooth. That motherfucker knocked his tooth loose.
He almost couldn’t believe it, but a larger part of him was grateful. He’d been waiting for that tooth to come loose for a really long time. Plus, he kinda liked having a loose tooth; he forgot how much fun it was wiggling it around whenever he got bored. Usually, he had a loose tooth for a week before it’d eventually fall out. This time it lasted til lunch. Three hours after it first loosened.
It was the one time Ponyboy actually ate lunch in the cafeteria and he promised himself never again. But Curly really wanted some casserole surprise or whatever the lunch ladies were serving. Pony hadn’t thought it’d be edible, let alone good, so he grabbed a dull red apple for his lunch (that apple costed him three cents by the way. Three whole cents! Pony’s never eating in the cafeteria again, he swears it).
Ponyboy finished about half the apple when Curly abruptly dragged him out the cafeteria. He said something about how he forgot Dally and Steve were waiting for Pony, and by default himself,in the parking lot. That means Pony suffered through a pathetic lunch for nothing. He gives Curly a nice hard punch as he tosses the apple in the trash on the way out.
When they arrive at Steve’s car they find him and Dally in the middle of… an argument? They were glaring at each other in a way that could be mistaken for a staring contest, but Pony knows better. The two were probably about to duke it out if not for him and Curly arriving. Well, they probably still would have, but Dally glances at Pony once, turns back to Steve, then widens his eyes and almost breaks his neck turning back to Ponyboy.
“Fuck are you bleeding for?”
Pony frowns and instinctively touches his chest. “I am?”
Dally clicks his teeth, “From your mouth, idiot.”
The sound of a snicker then the most agitating voice Ponyboy has ever had the misfortune of hearing says, “You lose a fight and get punched in the mouth, kid?”
God, just the sound of Steve’s voice grates on Ponyboy’s nerves. Wait. His eyes widen and he quickly runs his tongue over his loose tooth. Well, where it should be. “My tooth!”
From the corner of his eye he can see Dally gagging, some blood may have spat from his mouth when he spoke, and Steve stiffening up and looking back at the school. Gearing for a fight he’ll probably lose, Pony thinks absently. “Shit, he knocked your tooth out!”
“When did you have time to get in a fight?” Ponyboy isn’t paying much attention to any of them, too busy searching the ground for his tooth, but he’s pretty sure Curly sounds more disappointed than worried, the asshole.
“Darry’s gon’ kill us— Would you quit actin’ a fool!” He can hear Steve slapping someone upside the head, Dally if the hiss is anything to go by. “What? Mr County Lock up ain’t never seen blood before?”
“You hit me again and you ‘bout to see some real blood.”
“You know who will hit us? Darrel.”
A pause. “Shit.”
“Shit,” Steve says in agreement.
Pony rolls his eyes and cuts his losses. He’s never gonna find that damn tooth. Who knows when he lost it. Wait, did he swallow it? What’s the last thing he ate? “That damn apple,” he answers aloud.
“What?” Curly asks. This is all his fault. If he didn’t drag Pony to the cafeteria then he never would’ve eaten that apple.
“I ate that damn apple,” he shoves Curly for emphasis. “And it took my fucking tooth.”
“Why am I getting abused! The fuck?”
“Wait. Hang on, munchkin.”
“I am not—!”
“Shut up, munch,” Steve repeats. “Are you telling me you lost a fight to an apple?” Dallas doesn’t even try to hide a snort.
Ponyboy is very much not pouting okay? “It was already loose! Hardly a fair fight,” Pony climbs into the backseat of the car and he's mostly over this stupid conversation. He doesn’t need to explain himself to them. He lost his tooth big whoop, that’s hardly any of their business. Leaning over the side of the car, he spits a good amount of blood into the parking lot and he can hear Dally gagging again. Serves him right for laughing, Pony thinks.

Fantasy football mock draft: 10-team, 1/2 PPR

12:56 PM ET- ESPN.com staffWe're officially in the vacuum of space between OTAs and training camp. Seems like a good time for everyone to chill and enjoy summer, right? Not if you're aiming to win a championship. You know the top NFL competitors are hard at work right now. So, too, are fantasy folks who want to own their drafts when they count. That means taking part in some mock drafts to get a feel for things and work out the kinks, which is exactly what our experts did with our latest mock.

More people play on ESPN than anywhere else. Join or create a league in the No. 1 Fantasy Football game! Sign up for free >> Following our first one, a 10-team PPR format, we're back with this 10-team 1/2-PPR mock. Locomation completes first on-road pilot of human-guided autonomous freight hauling
youtube
Autonomous trucks have gained ground lately, as the complexity of long-haul highway driving poses less of a challenge than urban traffic for passenger vehicles. Locomation today announced the successful completion of its first on-road pilot program transporting commercial freight. The pilot is the result of a partnership with Wilson Logistics. Both companies said It is a significant step toward autonomous trucking.
Locomation claims that its trucking technology is the first to combine autonomous driving with driver augmentation. Veterans from Carnegie Mellon University’s National Robotics Engineering Center launched the company in 2018. Pittsburgh-based Locomation said its staff includes experts in robotics technology, safety, and artificial intelligence. It raised $5.98 million in Series A funding in June.
Springfield, Mo.-based Wilson Logistics is a family-owned and operated organization that began as Wil-Trans in 1990. Through the acquisitions of Jim Palmer Trucking in 2014, O&S Trucking in 2016, RJs Transportation in early-2017, Haney Truck Line in late-2017, and Market Transport in 2019, Wilson Logistics was formed.
Locomation creates autonomous convoys
The core technology of Locomation is its Autonomous Relay Convoy (ARCTM), in which one driver pilots a lead truck with technology augmentation, while an autonomous truck follows in tandem. This proprietary system allows the driver in the second vehicle to rest, said the company. Locomation added that each ARCTM segment is engineered for maximum yield and utilization by its business operations team.
Locomation and Wilson Logistics first announced their trial at the Truckload Carriers Association annual conference in March. Two Locomation trucks hauling Wilson Logistics trailers and freight were deployed as an ARCTM on a 420-mi. route that stretched from Portland, Ore., to Nampa, Ind., along I-84. That stretch of interstate highway has some of the most challenging road conditions in terms of curvatures, grades, and wind gusts, according to the companies.
“The successful kickoff of this commercial agreement with Wilson Logistics is a significant milestone for our teams,” statad Dr. Çetin Meriçli, co-founder and CEO Locomation. “Despite the threat of COVID-19, we delivered real-world results for the most advanced, efficient, and safest solution to make commercial autonomous trucking a reality. Most importantly, the pilot strongly proved that our autonomous technology can be integrated seamlessly and deployed within a real trucking operation in a sustained fashion.”
Having seen the route for the first time during the initial, eight-day long pilot phase, Locomotion’s ARCTM covered approximately 3,400 miles and operated autonomously roughly half of the time, delivering 14 commercial loads.
At all times during the pilot, each truck was staffed with a trained driver and a safety engineer tasked with monitoring vehicle and AV system performance, collecting more than two-dozen key performance indicators vital to ensuring the successful deployment of this autonomous vehicle technology.

Full commercialization coming down the road
“This test pilot was critical for Wilson Logistics because it proved the true commercial viability of Locomation’s ARCTM technology,” explained Darrel Wilson, chairman and CEO of Wilson Logistics. “For our team, it’s the perfect combination of safety improvements, increased asset utilization, reduced cost per mile — and most importantly, a better driver experience.”
At full commercialization, Locomation’s autonomous vehicle technology is expected to produce an estimated 30% reduction in operating cost per mile, including 8% reduction in fuel consumption. Such operations could also remove over 40 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the air per convoy annually, it said.
Wilson Logistics risk management consultancy Aon also participated in the pilot program in order to assess a range of metrics related to safety.
“We congratulate Wilson Logistics and Locomation on a successful initial test phase,” said Mark Brockinton, CEO of Aon’s Transportation and Logistics Practice. “We are thrilled with the performance of the pilot and its safe, on-time deliveries each day. We think Locomation’s platform points to a future for freight carriers where risk factors related to accident and loss are significantly lower.”
The Locomation-Wilson Logistics agreement will initially operate more than 124 ARCTM-equipped tractors in two-truck convoys on 11 ARCTM segments throughout the U.S. at peak implementation. The next phase in the partnership will include the delivery of more than 1,000 two-truck convoys representing more than 2,000 ARC-equipped trucks operating on more than 68 ARCTM segments nationwide.

Leave Taking, Bush Theatre [Darrel Blake @darrel__blake]
“What does a doctor know about a Black woman’s soul?” echoed around the theatre as this became the anthem of the show. “Leave Taking”, a Bush Theatre production by Winsome Pinnock returned to the stage since is premier in 1987, bringing back the Caribbean anecdote that has been the story for many Caribbean households since the Windrush era.
Set in the urban streets of Deptford, a small family of 3 embark on a journey of soul searching. Mother “Enid” played by Sarah Niles struggles to find the strength in building a relationship with her eldest daughter “Del”, played by Seraphina Beh. In seeking guidance she visits a local obeah (witch doctor) woman “Mai” played by Adjoa Andoh, to help her find out what is troubling Del. Del is a young woman who comes across as rebellious but not until the show unpacks some home truths, do you start to see beneath the layers of hard skin and realise that a child in anger is a child yearning for love and acceptance. Del’s younger sister “Viv”, played by Nichole Cherrie is the depiction of ‘Doppler effect’ as she is praised, loved and celebrated by Enid. Viv is more of a conformist and does what is asked of her, having more time spent in her books than exploring the estates of Deptford, she sets her sights on going to university... or is that more of her Mother’s dream?
In common African and Caribbean cultures, a close friend of the family always gains the title of “Aunt” or “Uncle”, and in the case of ‘Leave Taking’, an uncle “Brod” played by Wil Johnson added pizzazz to the production. Humour and music was Brod’s DNA but Rum & Whiskey ran in his blood, you could argue and say this was his way of dealing with his British identity in the UK or these were the tools that reminded him of home on which he still misses.
‘Leave Taking’ raises the topics of racism and Black British identity, to which Enid suffers from what W.E.B Dubios once coined as “Double Consciousness”. This is shown in the scene where Del remembers Enid’s work party and believes her mother was a victim of racial discrimination. The British empire conversation is dinner table talk in Caribbean households and tends to based around why are Black people oppressed. Brod shares his thoughts on why Jamaican’s are poor “Because a colonialism. Imperialism. Vampirism. They suck the blood outta the island, suck them dry”. As humorous as the audience found it, we have to take in the account of what the Windrush generation went through being called “British Subjects” by the ‘Mother Country’. Set in 1987, 25 years after Jamaica gained its independence you get a sense that some Jamaican Black Britons still feel disconnected from being welcomed, whereas some despite in the face racism, acquiesce Stockholm syndrome.
‘Leave Taking’ is packed with Jamaican culture, British society and family melodrama. Set in 1980’s south London, representing the hardships of single parenthood and Afro-pessimism. 5 characters engage with the audience for 2hours, appealing to our inner stories of how we have liberated from a place that once had us lost. Winsome Pinnock has done an exceptional job in bringing to light memories and narratives that Jamaican and Caribbean households experience making that ‘better life’ to Great Britain

Be with someone who will drive 5 hours to see you for one.
Aaaaannnndd it ends there. She already broke up with me at this time of driving and currently she is already with someone new. So my effort in driving for that 5 hours becomes null.
Since my days with Natsu(my ever loving reliable 3-door Pajero) are numbered, I decided to go on a trip for one last hurrah.
Right after my shift, I drove Darrell to his place and then went on to gas station. Aside from filling him up, I also bought coolant for the radiator and water. My mind at that time was to visit Mom and tell her that I will be selling Natsu to fund my I-will-be-working-abroad-soon-but-need-to-study-housekeeping-first project.
So there, I had him fill up with a good quality gas and decided to drive out North towards Tabogon - my mom’s hometown. I left around 2 am from the city and arrived around 5am. Right on time for the sunrise. It was beautiful since I park along side the road and an ocean was present. I had pictures but if I upload it here - it would IG-like.
I spent an hour with Mom in the cemetery. Informed her of my plans and asked for her forgiveness. This year has been really difficult for me. I lost everything. Worst, I lost D.
There will be days that my heart will not care if I have eaten or not. I would make a wager with God and tell Him that I don’t care if I suffer as long as she is okay. Since we broke up, it has always been my prayer.
So after an hour with talking to Mom, I decided to drive back to the city. As I was about to reach the main road for Cebu an idea just came in to mind.
What if I drive to her hometown? She will kill me for sure.
Yet I did.
So I opened up the application Waze and just ticked on the name of her hometown. It was a 3 hour drive and I need to pass by on her boyfriend’s hometown before I can get to her place.
And the driving begins. Lots of adventures. I appreciate the drive because going to their place (actually, there are three ways going to their place and the road I take is perhaps the last option) has wide roads and it’s cemented. So Natsu was not having a hard time. I did not even have to use the AC because driving to their place(mountain side like) has fresh air along the way - except for the constructioin on going which causes a dusty road. But going to her place is amazing, trees, streams you can see along the road while driving. The province life.
So the the three hours spent driving was hardly a drag. When I saw the sign that I am already at her place - I took a picture just to document my little, foolish adventure. My bestfriend would really scold me after she finds out but I chose not to tell her yet since I know by daytime she’s still asleep. She works at nights.
As I drove to her hometown proper, my heart began to beat faster. Hoping to catch a glimpse of her or I don’t know. I have so many situations already played in mind and then I remember that her boyfriend just live next to her hometown, minutes of drive and I figured they are together. So all the scenes played in my head are erased and I just continued driving.
Made a stop at the gas station and ticked on Waze to lead me on their church which is the St. Anthony Church. I feel sad as soon as I arrived in the area because their church has faded paint on the outside. And I cannot even get in since the doors are locked. The church staff told me it was not open yet since the staff who has the key has not yet arrived. They don’t even have someone selling candles in the area. I have to look for a store and buy it myself. Her hometown is beautiful. Beaches as blue as the sky, laid back life and rich in resources. Just lacks development and reconstruction. Hopefully the Mayor will do something about it. If it’s for tourism, their place will sure be one of the must-go-to.
So I said my prayers to St Anthony. Asking for forgiveness because i know I have hurt her daughter. And I told him that I have regretted it very much. But I am already too late. I pray that she and her family wil always be happy and that her career and education will be a success.
After my prayer, I got on the car and drove my way to highway as instructed by Waze.
Have you ever felt that feeling where your heart is longing to see and be with her even for just some minutes. I prayed to God that I hope she is okay. As I turned right in the corner, just two blocks from where the church is located, I had to slow Natsu down because I was checking on Waze. So I stopped the car. When I look at the window in the passenger seat, I realized the house in front of me was her house.
I know her Dad’s pick up truck license plate by heart and it was parked just at the side of her home. My eyes widened and my heart beat faster. All I could say in my mind at that time was, “Oh, my God!”
I drove away as quickly as possible before anyone could see my car at the front of their house. I shook my head foolishly and just laugh. told myself I am so crazy for doing this.
I drove in the highway going to Asturias and I saw Molobolo, the popular spring in her hometown and her school. Then I decided to make a right so that I can visit the Sta Lucia church - where she and her boyfriend had a walkathon and it was also the pic where I saw her hold her boyfriend’s hand. The picture that really crushed me.
So the first pic, which is with the Daquit tree - I had to rest for a while. The Sta Lucia church is located on a small hill like and it’s very solemn. Good thing there was a lady who was selling candles so I was able to say my prayers.
I asked forgiveness from Mama Mary and Sta Lucia for all the hurts that I have caused. I told them how much I love her and wish her always the best things in life she will have through God’s blessing.
After the church, I decided to drive back the city. Thinking how she would feel if she would find out how I went to her hometown. I am sure she would not be pleased. As romantic as I thought it would be, she doesn’t love me anymore and the hopeless romantic effort of trying to win her back is no longer relevant.
That is when I realized that after Mom’s death anniversary, I will have to let her go.
No point really of fighting for someone who no longer loves you.

Tekst: Laura Disaronno, foto's: Lubasja Margarita
Hallo guys! Stel jullie zelf even voor.
Bridging the gap between Amsterdam and London.
Cle: Dat is eigenlijk heel spontaan gekomen.
Waar halen jullie jullie inspiraties? Echt way back dus.
Akwasi: De Belgische Darrell Cole!
Keep on bridging the gap!

Undrafted free agent signings 2017: Every team’s pickups in one place
Is the next Tony Romo waiting in this year’s crop of undrafted players?
The 2017 NFL Draft may be over, but that doesn’t mean teams are done adding important contributors for the upcoming season. Scores of NCAA athletes will start the next chapters of their football careers by signing as undrafted free agents.
The class of 2017 could also produce some memorable contributors. College standouts like Jarron Jones and Hardy Nickerson Jr. should all draw plenty of interest this spring. Though they’ll face long odds to make an NFL roster, the path they’ll walk is far from uncharted territory.
There’s a laundry list of players who have emerged from the embers of the draft to make a major impact in the NFL. All-Pros like Wes Welker, Priest Holmes, Kurt Warner, Antonio Gates, John Randle, James Harrison, Jessie Tuggle, and Tony Romo all took the long way to the league. They turned out to be unexpected boons who didn’t cost a cent in draft currency.
We’ll have a complete list of undrafted free agent signings as they come in.
