Hi it's me I've started another DnDads fanfic.

It's like a no forgotten realms au. The main premise is Paeden just shows up one day at a birthday party for Grant and Darryl feeds him bc like, hey a kid shows up at the cook out the rule is you gotta feed them. And he just keeps coming back to chill with Darryl, who himself is in the middle of a very civil divorce with his wife Carol.

Main changes are

- Walter the Immoral's name is changed to Walter Imoralé and he works as a welder who blacksmiths in his garage in his free time. He's Paeden's foster parent on emergency placement

- The dads play Dungeons and Dragons together and that's how they all became so close, started the group by Glenn going around the soccer game yard and asking people if they'd be down to join his "fantasy football" game.

- Carol and Darryl are in the middle of divorcing each other. I'm thinking of adding in some side Oakson or even oakcloson where Darryl came to the realization he was gay while hanging out with the boys and Henry explaining how his open relationship works. After working himself up to try and figure it out with his wife, Carol is very relieved and supportive and they split but like still live together/ haven't told Grant yet. So they're kinda in that in-between stage but they're splitting on good terms.

- I'm not sure what to do with Paeden's actual backstory yet. I'm debating between him being a surrender child and not knowing his parents but having too many behaviors/ health issues to realistically be adopted by anyone yet. To like, giving him a pretty gruesome backstory that could take this from "This work doesn't require any warmings" to "graphic depictions of violence". Leaning towards graphic depictions of violence just because that's my style but yk.

- there's going to be some "beef" between Grant and Paeden def. Just because Grants frustrated because something is going on, his parents won't tell him, and this random neighborhood kid keeps walking into his home and joining them for breakfast. But trust Grant is getting therapy the poor boy needs it

Henry, Darryl, and Glenn toddler/baby parenting headcanons, brought to you by discussions with my mum, studying attachment in psych currently, and @landrick-lycidas foolishly asking about them.

Henry and Mercedes are definetly on one of the Science-Aware Natural Parenting groups on Facebook. They always had slings ready to carry Lark and Sparrow in, (the twins probably prefered walking and running, so this was for when they got tired and clingy, or when they were babies who couldn't yet walk) and probably ended up amassing a collection, which then became repurposed/given to other parents when the twins were older. Breastfed for as long as possible, and very child led.

Carol and Darryl were much more a set feeding times, bottle-fed only and move Grant onto formula pretty quickly kinda couple. Very American from what I've seen. Grant probably slept in a crib in his own room, and I imagine Carol was a very "Let him cry it out" 90s style of parenting (which had a lot to do with Skinner's operant conditioning stuff!) but I don't think Darryl could bear to hear his son in distress, and would often go comfort him anyway. He probably would have worn those baby carriers if he was as comfortable in himself/his masculinty then as he is at the end of the show. Glenn and Morgan are a very specific kind of parenting I don't know how to describe. They never bought a crib for Nick, and always let him sleep in their bed until he was big enough to need his own. Much like the Oak-Garcias, very child-led but less in a concious, methodical way and more in a punk and/or "we're twenty and don't know what we're doing so lets just try and make our kid as happy as possible" way. Glenn is also definetly a picking up on Nick's alert phases and show reciprocacy kinda guy. In other words: very much a "hey little man" *baby gurgling in response* "hell yeah dude, that sounds wild". Engages a lot with his son's baby babble and treats it like serious conversation, strongly a play/talking kinda dad. Also, picture: Glenn lying on his back with baby Nick resting on his stomach for tummy time. Even then, they were best friends

Mason - Not sure if Mason would like fish. Definitely hates underwear as a gift. Daryl - Maybe the person who upgrades tools? Likes flowers and stews. River - Likes vegetables from your farm, uses them in the soup kitchen. (but peas are for feeding ducks.) Winter - See Carter from Harvest Moon DS except much older. Likes artifacts. Sirris - Shopkeeper. Likes foragibles.

we could stretch it and make mason a sort of fisherman, or maybe he's just another young person who recently moved to the town and trying to figure out what he's doing? there would definitely be a heart event where you catch him naked swimming lol

darryl, I think he could fit as a shop keeper if not a strip club owner, though I also think that sirris might fill that role better as a general store type of thing? I do like the idea of him being a blacksmith too though. along with flowers I think he'd ljke wine gifts too

100% with river, as you raise heart levels with them you also get different recipes for soup, bread etc

and winter being the museum/artifacts etc guy I also like a lot, I'd love for him to give tips and stuff about finding artifacts and ores to some extent too? likes artifacts gifts, I think he'd also like minerals too (stuff not necessarily expensive but rare)

and yeah sirris is a shopkeeper, it would be cool if by getting closer to him you would also learn more abt sydney and all of that

I love this ask, but now I'm thinking abt whether or not the teachers should be love interests in this hypothetical game too... sydney better get ready to call me stepdad bc I'd be diving into that sirrussy
