Hello, people of Tumblr! How have you been all this time? As always, your friend Rankakiu hopes you're doing well. It took me a while, but finally, here's a little drawing in comic form for this Halloween.

I took inspiration from the Metal Virus saga, from the IDW Sonic comics, which evokes very well the terror and despair of the zombie apocalypse. For this comic-manga mix page, I used my little Abilene Schrodinger, the Singapore cat, turned into a fearsome zombot. Making her debut, in the panel above, is Hypatia Schrodinger, the Maine Coon cat, an adoptable FC designed by my great friend and talented artist @DavidSonic28

The comic page tells the heartbreaking story of how Hypatia is cornered and without any escape routes, showing the symptoms of having been infected by the Metal Virus, caused by her cousin Abilene. Hypatia begs for mercy. The most tragic thing is that Abilene has little but enough consciousness left to realize that she is about to condemn her beloved cousin to the same horrible fate. She wants to stop it, but she has no control over her own body and can only watch in helplessness and pain as Hypatia is turned into a zombot.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2 during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:

7 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 9 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

10 “What should we do then?” the crowd asked.

11 John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”

12 Even tax collectors came to be baptized. “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”

13 “Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” he told them.

14 Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?”

He replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay.”

15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah. 16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” 18 And with many other words John exhorted the people and proclaimed the good news to them.

RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION! PERSECUTION OF HOMESCHOOLERS! What has this world come to! We're under attack from the enemy! After receiving a first-class homeschool education from my wife Theresa, my son Maxwell Jr. is being DENIED entry into college by secular forces that wish to discriminate against faithful followers of the Watcher! He just wishes to serve his nation, to become a voice of the Watcher in the heaten city of San Myshuno like his father-in-law, and yet, he was denied! It is a SCANDAL! Maxwell Jr. knows everything a young man needs, he knows work, he knows the Holy Book, and yet, they say he is not good enough!

But I say, THEY are not good enough! They do not want us in their schools, they do not want us in their government, they do not want us in their families, and they do not want us in their military, and yet, we will PERSEVERE! We WILL take over this country! BEWARE!

So, this was a very character focused episode of Walker! I absolutely adored Cassie and Liam's interactions, like a brother/sister vibe (which, could happen in the future).

I had hoped that with Stella growing up, we'd be done with all the bad decisions, but I guess Sadie's too much of a bad influence (and without Hoyt's charm).

I'll admit that I liked Cordell's communication issues when talking to Geri, but I'm still missing the chemistry between them. It certainly does feel like two people who've known each other forever, and even though they said they wanted to know everything about each other, I have to wonder if what they don't know is all that interesting. Jared did a great job portraying Cordell's hesitation, though (and where I thought the staccato speaking style actually worked.)

Poor August still seems so lost. I know Bonham's glad he found something to focus on, but is boot camp the right thing? Wouldn't it be better for Augie to still have other hobbies that help keep him well-rounded? Trey seems to be keeping a very watchful eye on him, which can only help.

Also loved Cordell and Abby's little sit-down. I melt every time he calls her Mama.

I'll be interested to see what happens with that cliffhanger. Apparently, not everything is as it seems! All in all, a good episode that seems to be leading up to some very exciting stuff!

And by exciting, I mean Detective Luna, lol! Two glances in the promo for next week and I'm done!

Toby Agar Ultimate Indie Game Developer Mild-mannered and with a talent that’s easily overlooked, Toby Agar is a rather unassuming person at first glance. He’s obviously very smart and has seen much success, but most people who see him don’t know of his double life as the famed indie developer, KogiDev. Understandable, since he was one that preferred to keep his identity secret. Needless to say, the fact that he was found by the Western Hope’s Peek Talent Agency and invited to Salvation’s Summit Camp was a big surprise. He often likes to use his experience and knowledge of making and playing games in real life problems and scenarios.

David Samuel Ultimate Teen Heartthrob The absolute portrait of a charming prince, David Samuel grew up surrounded by admirers. Along with his looks he also has shown a very charismatic personality, being very polite and always offering a compliment to any damsel he sees. While he’s very much experienced with the fairer sex, he doesn’t always get along with other boys. There have also been rumors that his “prince charming” appearance is merely a front. For what, exactly, is yet to be confirmed.

Irwin Asher Ultimate Cowboy Born and raised in the south, Irwin would say that God had him hand made for his talent. He’s very rough-and-tumble and is proficient in everything from lassoing to breaking horses. He made a name for himself as an online presence before being picked up for TV and county fair shows. He’s also garnered quite the fanbase of lovestruck ladies. The two thing he loves more than anything else are good apple pie and his dear meemaw.

Carmel Abilene Ultimate Botonist Carmel has had a green thumb since birth, having grown up with two herbologist as parents. He knows a plethora of information on plants, and especially flowers. From what flowers would grow best in a garden to which flowers are edible, if you have a question he can answer it. He also is very good at keeping a level head, even in stressful situations. When he does get stressed, he likes to make a pot of his personally crafted and cultivated tea and is more than happy to share with others who need to take the edge off. And if you need something stronger than tea, he can hook you up there too.

Sidd Ammon Ultimate Mechanic If you need anything regarding machinery, Sidd is your best bet. A very bright young man, he’s always had a way with machines. At a young age he was already working with vehicles of all kinds from cars to tanks. He was picked up by the Hope’s Peak Talent Agency very early in life, so he’s quite used to getting many opportunities others haven’t, including many highly classified projects. His two biggest dreams include making the newest tech available for everyone who needs it, and building the first ever gundam. Do be warned, if you do have questions regarding machines, expect to be stuck there for a while.

Gabe the Great Ultimate Stuntman Make way for the most radical dude in the midwest! Gabriel, or Gabe the Great as he likes to be called, grew up in a small, rugged community that was mostly farms and taverns. With not a whole lot around in the way of entertainment, he’s mostly had to make his own kind of fun. He started off with the usual scooters, bikes, and skateboards, but didn’t fully find his niche until he got into more motorized vehicles like motorcycles, monster trucks, and even managed to operate a jetpack with ease. Luke 3:1-20: "A Voice in the Wilderness"

IntroductionThe wilderness in Scripture is not just a desolate, harsh place where there is no life. It is often a launching pad for the display of the Glory of God.- Israel- David- Elijah- Jesus The wilderness is a place of preparation as God begins to do another work in the world.Today we'll hear another "voice" from the wilderness: John the Baptist.As we find ourselves to be "voices in the wilderness," we'll see and remember that God makes highways in the wilderness.

‭Luke 3:1-20 ESV‬

[1] In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, [2] during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. [3] And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. [4] As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. [5] Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough places shall become level ways, [6] and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’” [7] He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [8] Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. [9] Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” [10] And the crowds asked him, “What then shall we do?” [11] And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” [12] Tax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” [13] And he said to them, “Collect no more than you are authorized to do.” [14] Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.” [15] As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, [16] John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. [17] His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” [18] So with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people. [19] But Herod the tetrarch, who had been reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things that Herod had done, [20] added this to them all, that he locked up John in prison.

Humble Yourselves (vv.1-6)Luke has centered on the lowly.

[51] He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; [52] he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; [53] he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

Notice the names, the positions, the power.

If God is coming in his Kingdom, don't you think he'd start here?But he doesn't...

An unpopular man with an unpopular message: Repent!An unpopular message because of its implication: There is something wrong with us.- Offensive- Unflattering- Unaffirming- UnkindThis grates at everything within us.But this is God's message. And there's a purpose!

‭Luke 3:4-6 ESV‬

[4] As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. [5] Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough places shall become level ways, [6] and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

‭Isaiah 40:3-6 ESV‬

[3] A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. [4] Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. [5] And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” [6] A voice says, “Cry!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.

This is the "comfort" of Israel.- From the wilderness- From the desertThe wilderness was often a metaphor for Israel's spiritual state. No life, no fruit, no hope. But God also promised that his glory would be revealed even in and from the wilderness.And he wants his people prepared.- Repenting- Humble (made low)And if we're to rightly understand the Good News, we have to also understand the bad news. If we're going to be saved, we must also understand what we need saving from.- This requires honesty.- This requires boldness.- This requires humility.

This isn't going to be a popular message.Are prepared to stand in the wilderness?Are you humble enough to stand for truth?Maybe you need this message.

‭Romans 3:23 ESV‬

[23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

‭1 Peter 5:6 ESV‬

[6] Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,

What Now? (vv.7-14)Any true prophetic preaching must command repentance.To turn from sin toward God.This is a tone of warning.

‭Luke 3:7 ESV‬

[7] He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

John is honest about their nature.

‭John 8:44 ESV‬

[44] You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

‭Genesis 3:15 ESV‬

[15] I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

Here is the truth about unbelief.- It is from Satan, the Serpent.- It will be crushed with him.- The "foot," ("wrath") is coming down!

‭Luke 3:8 ESV‬

[8] Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

"Bear fruit" matching your profession!Race, identity, pride, self-righteousness... None of these will do.The scandalous message for Jewish hearers is that even they needed to repent... along with everyone else!The situation is urgent!

[9] Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

There must have been a great response.

[10] And the crowds asked him, “What then shall we do?”

‭Acts 2:37 ESV‬

[37] Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

‭Luke 3:11-14 ESV‬

[11] And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” [12] Tax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” [13] And he said to them, “Collect no more than you are authorized to do.” [14] Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.”

Notice who John addresses:- The rich- Tax collectors- SoldiersHe bypasses the religious leaders. They haven't gotten the first thing right (repentance).He addresses these sinners and gentiles and tells them they too can turn to God and be saved. And this produces an external response!

‭Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV‬

[8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

‭Galatians 5:22-23 ESV‬

[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

We must not forget this!- True faith produces something!- There is a "what now?"Works don't produce salvation;But salvation produces works!

The Kingdom is coming!Only humble faith that produces repentance and good works is true saving faith.

A Fresh Baptism (vv.15-17)Who is this?

‭Luke 3:15 ESV‬

[15] As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ,

But they have it wrong.John is the last of the Old Covenant Prophets. He is a herald, "preparing the way in the wilderness" for the Glory of the Lord to be manifested in his Messiah: Jesus Christ.

‭Luke 3:16-17 ESV‬

[16] John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. [17] His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

What is this baptism with the Spirit.

‭1 Corinthians 12:13 ESV‬

[13] For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

But is it just a one time thing?

‭Ephesians 5:18 ESV‬

[18] And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Yes, you have the fullness of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ. You can't have more or less of the Spirit than when you were saved.But.. he can have more or less of you.We need to be filled every day!"Fire"- Not crazy stuff- Refining precious metal- Destroying the junkWhat will it be for you?Refining or judgment?We need this!

‭Acts 1:8 ESV‬

[8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Why we need this more than ever.

‭Luke 3:18-20 ESV‬

[18] So with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people. [19] But Herod the tetrarch, who had been reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things that Herod had done, [20] added this to them all, that he locked up John in prison.

We haven't known this kind of persecution. But the Church throughout history has... and maybe we will soon.Will you stand then?If we're going to be the witnesses he's called us to be; if we're going to stand for truth; we're going to need this Spirit to be "voices in the wilderness."It may seem lonely and desolate. It may seem as if nothing can happen here. But this is where God likes to display his Glory!
