Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: Can Jason Momoa and Amber Heard's Starrer Surpass Its Predecessor in Advance Bookings?
Tumblr media
As the release date for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" approaches on Friday, December 22, fans eagerly await the final chapter of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) before the anticipated franchise reboot led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. This sequel, directed by James Wan and penned by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, promises to build upon the foundation laid by its predecessor while paving the way for an exciting new direction in the DCEU narrative.
Box Office Buzz and Pre-Booking Triumphs
Amidst initial concerns and less-than-optimistic projections, the film has started making waves in the box office waters, particularly in China. Trade analyst Luiz Fernando reports a significant $296K in advance booking collections on a single Monday, contributing to a total pre-booking sales figure of $977K from December 19 to 25. Notably, these figures slightly surpass the pre-booking sales of other major releases like "The Marvels" and "The Batman." The stakes are high as industry observers closely monitor how "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" positions itself against other blockbuster films.
Projected Opening Weekend and Global Expectations
Despite projections of a domestic box office revenue ranging between $32 million and $42 million for the opening weekend, the sequel faces comparisons to its predecessor, "Aquaman," which achieved a noteworthy $67 million in its opening weekend. While domestic expectations may be tempered, the global success of the first installment, surpassing $1 billion in box office earnings, sets a high bar for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." Industry observers keenly watch to see if the sequel can replicate the global triumph of its predecessor.

Behind the Scenes and Stellar Cast
Produced by DC Studios, Atomic Monster, and The Safran Company, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" boasts a stellar cast led by Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman. The ensemble includes Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman, contributing to the film's potential success as the 15th and final installment in the DCEU. In conclusion, as the cinematic fate of Aquaman unfolds in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," the sequel seems poised to leave an indelible mark on the DCEU narrative, both domestically and globally. Whether it can surpass the expectations set by its predecessor remains to be seen, but the film's impressive pre-booking figures indicate a promising start on its journey to box office success. Book 75 of 2017: Review link in bio. I LOVE fairytales, and for me, it's a case of the darker the better. I really loved this movie version - from the writing to Hardwicke's cold and dark gothic style. And I also really enjoyed this book, even if the ending wasn't quite what the film's was. #books #bookstagram #redridinghood #catherinehardwicke #sarahblakleycartwright #davidlesliejohnson #retelling #fairytale #gothic #werewolf #amandaseyfried #shilohfernandez #maxirons #garyoldman #billyburke #bignames #greatmovie

Day 10 of #onceuponaretelling although only for like a few more minutes... I keep getting distracted. Doing the challenge, I keep going through my books and I start remembering old friends and then it’s time to start revisiting them again ya know? Well anyway, today’s theme is Little Red Riding Hood. In one of my classes my last semester of college, I actually planned out a book exhibit featuring Red throughout history and the many forms she has taken. I didn’t realize how they changed with the time period and area and all that too! It was so much fun and I got to see so many different set ups of this story that made me love it even more!! I think I still have the assignment if anyone is curious 🤷🏻‍♀️? . . Featured is Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright which is based on the screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson. Constantly, I will see a movie before reading the book mostly because I didn’t know at the time and then I get a little upset because I’ll never be able to fully imagine the world myself without influence from the movie (right or wrong). This being an exception, a book coming from the movie!! This is the movie which features Amanda Seyfrield as our leading lady in red. Now, I LOVED the movie but I love this adaption of it as well. This is such a different take on the story and I’m absolutely here for it AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT 📖😍💕 . The picture is from @owlcrate ‘s January 2017 box. A book subscription I highly recommend or just check it out for an occasional box of fabulous bookish goodies!! . . . #fairytales #retellings #littleredridinghood #bigbadwolf #redridinghood #sarahblakleycartwright #davidlesliejohnson #amandasayfried #redcoat #whatbigearsyouhave #whatbigeyesyouhave #whatbigteethyouhave #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #books4life #reader #readersofinstagram #reader4life https://www.instagram.com/p/Box7CWClkEv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=j7fbgxv9akg6

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Tumblr media
There are now 8 movies in the Conjuring Universe. At the top, there's the unbridled terror of the original. At the bottom, the uninspired Annabelle. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is in the middle. Scary without ever attaining nightmarish levels and unsure of how big its story should be, it’s saved by good performances and your emotional ties to characters.
Five years after the events of The Conjuring 2, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are helping banish the demon inside 8-year-old David Glatzel (Julian Hilliard). A few days afterward Arne Cheyenne Johnson (Ruairi O’Connor) - who was present during the exorcism - murders his landlord. The creature made David do it but his "not guilty" plea only stands a chance if the Warrens can prove what happened to him.
Unlike the other installments, this is not a haunted house movie; it’s a mystery. It also doesn’t introduce a new monster the way other “Conjuring” films did. This does open up new possibilities for the universe, however. There are loads of creepy artifacts inside the Warren’s home. They can’t all have been obtained through the same circumstances. This film shows there's room for variety.
With no “Nun”, “Annabelle” or “Crooked Man” to dazzle the audience, “The Devil Made Me Do It” does lack identity. You’d expect the couple’s investigation to coincide with the legal proceedings, for the evidence to make Arne’s lawyer question their faith, but that’s not this film at all. Writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wants to maintain the pretense that everything we’re seeing is real so the courtroom stuff is practically non-existent. He also wants to measure up to the big moments we saw in the other films so there's a disconnect in the middle. The posters say this is “The demonic case that shocked America”. I’d argue everything BEFORE Arne Johnson goes to trial is far more jaw-dropping than any courtroom argument.
If this weren't a movie whose characters we're already attached to, it would be fine but forgettable. Thankfully, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are so comfortable with each other they feel like a real couple. When director Michael Chaves takes a break from the scares to show them as a team, he doubles your emotional investment. Every scene with Ed in peril is particularly intense. He's looking mighty ragged. You get the nagging suspicion he’s only one attack away from death.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is a letdown because it doesn’t have the same kind of memorable, spine-tingling frights as its predecessors. It does have a strong conclusion however and the way it opens up the series to more innovation makes it an exciting change of pace. The love story between Ed and Lorraine Warren is one of the film’s strong points, as is the camerawork, lighting, and cinematography during the biggest scenes. For fans, it offers enough "pull up the covers" moments to be worth seeing the one time. (June 7th, 2021)

Eu fiquei tipo Oi? Cadê a continuação do meu livro no livro? O livro é ótimo e eu amo, mas isso foi uma coisa muito desnecessária ao meu ver. ✩★✩ Igs parceiros marcados na foto. ✩★✩ #agarotadacapavermelha #editoraid #redridinghood #sarahblackleycartwright #davidlesliejohnson #desafioliterario #livros #libros #books #leitores #leitora #bookholic #literatura #outono #igliterario #instaliterario #instabooks #bookgram #bookstagram #bookblogger #booklover #livromaniacos #blogliterario #blogueiraliteraria #instageek (em Curitiba, Brazil)
