Multiple Sclerosis is a terrible disease, but there are also silver linings and life lessons: ① MS has taught me to be present in each moment because I don’t ever know what comes next. ② I’ve become more compassionate with myself and am truly my own best friend and ally. ③ I’ve learned how to listen to what my body needs, even if it’s not something that’s convenient or easy for a competitive person like myself —one more lap, rep, or blog post? Maybe not. There are many other things MS has taught me. While I wouldn’t wish this teacher on anyone, I’ve learned so much. In 1998 my Celiac Disease diagnosis lead me to food blogging and my three cookbooks with @randomhouse Learning from MS has allowed me to help others with so much more than diet, to teach folks about overall health and wellness. In the end, we all live with things that are far beyond our control and sometimes life is really hard. But there are always things to be grateful 🙏 for on this wild ride called life, and those are the things that make us who we are. Our friends, the photographer Matthew Septimus and poet Esther Cohen, have created a new postcard series for the ten Days of Awe: County Route 20 for Prayers between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This year's project, Esther says, focuses "on the road of life, the road from Earth to the moon, beauty that persists in spite of floods and governments, the roads we all take. More than what happens." To all our brothers and sisters, l'shanah tovah. Happy new year and gratitude to all engage in this world.

Day 39: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” The very context of this verse is all about not worrying on the things, and also not getting anxious on everything. We’re all experiencing the same problems like our daily/weekly/monthly budget is about to ran out, we’re going to miss payments, or any “what if’s” that are we thinking right now. Never worry. I repeat, never worry, about everything. For if we are the seekers of His kingdom and His righteousness, no doubt that the Father will give what our needs as the birds outside. If we are seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, we are also seeking His will. We cannot act according to our own, but ask Him for His will. If we also seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, we can experience Him in our lives. Trust Him and be faithful, and actively seek Him even more. TAMIN IN THE DAYS OF AWE - 🍁HARVEST TIME As we move through the Days of Awe, we should find ourselves drawing closer to God in our works, worship and service (‘Teshuva’). Te: in our acronym of T-Sh-U-V-H (Teshuva) reminds us of Tamim, our sincerity before God. 🎯 Do we hunger for understanding his Words? Or have we grown complacent in our pursuit of them. Settling for a lesser truth than the fullness. 🎯Do we sincerely desire his desires? Or are we preoccupied only with our own. 🎯When was the last time you spoke to Jesus and asked him what he is praying for? God our Father has delighted to give his people consolation through the understanding of his word under the instruction of his priests since the beginning. When Jesus began to establish his Church on earth, he followed in His Fathers footsteps, appointing priests (“presbyters” or elders) to share instruction and understanding of his gospel across the earth. Knowing the number of his priesthood was too small to accomplish the task of a huge harvest he asked the priests to pray for more priests. He then gifted His church with Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Eph 4:11) to help build it. 🎯When was the last time you prayed for priestsly vocations to increase? 🎯Have you ever asked the Lord directly if He’d like you to become a priest? What about your son? Grandson? Brother? Nephew? Christ knows our petitions well. It’s on us to know His well. Ask Jesus today what he’s praying for. Be sincere with God. “Draw near to Him as he draws near to you.” 🙏🏼 Pray: Jesus, tell Me what’s on your heart today? How can I help you, Lord? I want to sincerely help build your kingdom.
