i hate how linear early game DBH is. ive been staring at the pause menu in A New Home cuz i just can't bring myself to play it. i've 100% all the early game chapters i just wanna get to the good partttt😭😭BUT from a narrative perspective it's great world & character building. Showing the dynamics between Kara, Alice, and Todd really add to the tense atmosphere of the chapter & Stormy Night. And how Markus is first shown as a caretaker for Carl, running errands for him, administering him his medicine, and things such as. It seems mundane and unexciting from the players perspective, especially on a second or third playthrough, but think about what's really happening. You're given these tasks and objectives, for what seems like everyday, to drive home the idea that Markus is just a machine designed to serve humans, no matter how repetitive and boring it may be. In my opinion it's almost refreshing to see Markus deviate and fight back when Leo attacks him, because all hes known is to obey. It gives a sense of freedom to an android who's been doing the same stuff for god knows how long. And for the player there's 2 chapters we've seen Markus follow Carls objectives. So when I replay DBH and I get frustrated with the linearity of the early game, I will stop and think to myself "Did the devs want me to feel bored? Was this on purpose so I can understand how Markus feels?". I'm writing this at 11:30PM so if there are any grammatical or story errors please ignore them. Anyways feel free to express your opinions in the comments, I love hearing what people have to say about this game!

Unpopular opinion: I dont care for Hankcon. I do like the idea of them being in a queerplatonic relationship in the sense that maybe they have a relationship on the aromantic scale. This is just my personal opinion of it tho- so please dont take this as an insult or challenge of sort. Just my personal opinion!

The fact that Josh was a university lecturer gives us a lot of insight to why he valued stability, predictability, and patience so much. To the point where he preferred to be passive and inevitably dying in the long run to being active and maybe dying sooner.

Did he learn to value predictability from his students? To spend more time with the ones who’d come to his lectures consistently? Did he seek out the unpredictable ones and avoid them so they wouldn’t have complaints about him?

Did he value the stability in his routine as a lecturer with a schedule even more once he escaped to Jericho? Who’s actively could not be predictable for their safety.

Did he put in complaints about student behaviors? And did he face negative consequences for it? Is that why he prefers passivity?

The Annoying Thing About How This Fandom Portrays Connor

Much as I like Connor as a character, this fandom infantilizes him so much. They often act like he's some "adorable" young boy who is naive or awkward, and a "surrogate son" for Hank with personality of a puppy. When in reality while Connor is conflicted, and is constantly under pressure that if his mission fails he will cease to exist, he is also capable of being ruthless, and depending on your actions can be a bigger antagonist than Perkins, but regardless he often displays clever strategies and deadly combat, he is good at being manipulative in order to accomplish what he wants to happen (Markus also has this trait), and he is very assertive, and he can outright MURDER Hank. Connor overall has the personality of a militant hunter, not a growing kid with a lot to learn. Also the various fanfics with him are almost always the same, with him still working at the DPD and living with Hank, neither make sense considering the circumstances, Connor never actually worked for the DPD, his "android detective" persona was just his cover, plus even if he was actually working for them at the time I doubt he would be to eager to trust humans again, having already been screwed over and lied to by them, and I doubt he would live with Hank, because for one, Hank's house very small and the dude is far from wealthy, it would be highly unconventional, at best he would likely just keep in touch with Hank on occasion, and he is more likely to become a resident at Jericho than live with Hank and go back to the DPD. This fandom does Connor's character a disservice.

I’m currently playing revolution Markus, and while I’ve seem people point out that choosing to stand your ground in the March is a decision you have to repeatedly make. I haven’t seen anybody talking about the fact that choosing to ‘revenge’ is also a decision you have to make again, and again

It's utterly magnetic when a character's rage is quiet and precise. When they don't scream and throw things but they just b r e a t h e and very very calmly aim their fury like an arrow shooting inexorably towards the target of their wrath. It captures my attention, I lean in close, I wait for the hit. It never disappoints.

Can we talk about the fact that Josh might’ve been at Jericho for years before Simon even got there?

Cause Josh was created somewhere in November 2031

And Simon was reported missing on February 16, 2036.

Correct me if I’m wrong cause I can’t find Josh’s missing report. But he could’ve been there before Simon.

Smiling, what a weird action.

A part of her wonders why she’s kept her body language simulator running. She was programmed to be an excellent communicator, from the tone of her voice to the tiniest muscle movement.

But, she doesn’t need it anymore.

But body language is still an effective way to communicate to the other Androids in Jericho. If it’s not important enough for her to send a message, but important enough for her to want her opinion to be known. With a simply shift in her stance she can communicate thousands of words.

Still why is she smiling?

Nobody’s looking, she’s not communicating her happiness to anyone.

Perhaps she’s just telling her self she’s happy.

North grinned. Well, as long as it’s not getting it the way, she’s going to smile as much as she wants.

I really wonder why Jericho did not even think of any alternatives after Markus suggested they infiltrate Stratford tower. Like there are other options to getting people’s attention.

Like social media is a thing people.

I understand that there are actual legitimate reasons why they might chose to infiltrate the tower since maybe people would think their demands were a hoax with out sufficient proof, but still at least consider other options!

AH HII SAW THAT YOUR ASKS WERE OPEN so I don’t know if it will really work in your story but I think a bartender connor would be cool! And having them mix up like a blue blood cocktail or smth, but if not a normal drink is also fine, I don’t know how detailed these doodles will be so yk do what’s best hehe OH AND THANK YOU SM! (also i just wanna say i fall in love with your work the more i see it, the way you draw faces is inspiring and i am always giddy to see your art!! ^^)

Headcannon: Detroit become human

Some Androids store backup memory files in their limbs so they would be able to get them back if they were reset.

Unfortunately they died and Another Android needed a new limb for one reason or another and now they have access to memories that a dead Android deemed as the most important memories to their identity.
