4. Which cryptid being do you believe in?

I don't believe in any cryptids, but for a time I did think it was possible that the loch ness monster could exist. That was before the photograph taken of it was proven to be a hoax. Of course this doesn't meant I don't believe that any new creatures can be discovered, but my take on undiscovered animals and cryptids now is that it doesn't exist until there's undeniable proof it does.

23. How do you feel about chilly weather?

Anything below 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) I dislike. However, I think I'd tolerate it more if it didn't get so damn freezing where I live. I come from a climate where it can fall below freezing up to 6 months of the year and below-zero temps (in F) are not uncommon in winter proper. Temps in the 30's and 40's are cold but they don't bite at you. You just need to bundle up a bit. Once it gets into the 40's you really only need a light jacket anyway. I feel like I'd appreciate it more if that's how my winters were like, but during the winter it's a treat if it's above freezing, and wearing layers on layers is really annoying (esp if you're just going somewhere and you'll be taking it all off once inside anyway). So to sum it up for you, no I don't like chilly weather lol

34. Is there a song you know every word by heart?

It's Shelter by Porter Robinson and Madeon. It's a song near and dear to me that I tend to associate with me looking back on the past, specifically middle school where I was battling serious mental health problems, while simultaneously being taught by my biggest inspiration in life: my art teacher. It's a song that I like to think as me thanking her for being such a wonderful person (to me and just in general).

Who said “I love you” first?

Breakdown. Knockout is VERY good at the coy flirting, not so much the direct statements.

What are their primary love languages?

Breakdown and Knockout kind of??? Fit very well together??? Like somehow they kinda just...click?

For the most part, BD receives words of affirmation and gives acts of service, and KO receives acts of service and gives words of affirmation. However, sometimes they switch it up!

How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA?

They avoid PDA around the Nemesis, but they will hug and kiss briefly during missions. In the privacy of their quarters, they will cuddle as often as they can for as long as they can. Up to and including BD sneaking into the shower with KO because he doesn’t want them to be separated for even a little bit.

What are their favorite things to do together?

Going on long drives and sneaking off to do human things (drive in movies!) They used to do these things more often before Starscream hailed for them, but sometimes they’ll pretend a mission is taking longer than expected.

Who’s better at comforting the other?

In the context of calming the other down...

Knockout’s learned how to help Breakdown deal with panic attacks relating to his agoraphobia--a necessity because Breakdown can’t exactly hide them and  higher ranking Cons sniffs out those perceived weaknesses like a bloodhound (thus feeding into the agoraphobia even more, among other things.) KO can get BD calm within a minute and a half if it’s absolutely necessary.

But BD isn’t meh at calming down KO for lack of trying! He tries very hard, but he’s still working on his tact. Still trying to learn that sometimes KO needs a little more than a heavy grounding hand on the shoulder or a snap of the fingers to bring him back to reality. He’s learned how to hum a few calming songs which help if KO is willing to receive a hug.

Who’s more protective?

You look at Breakdown the wrong way, or say some shit about him, Knockout is beating your ass. If KO doesn’t like you, don’t look at or interact with BD except for what is ABSOLUTELY necessary to complete a job, or you’re getting threatened with his buzz saw. He’s almost lost BD twice and he’s not going for the third time being the charm.

Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?

I’m sorry, are you making them choose???? You’re making them choose????

In all seriousness, Breakdown prefers to receive verbal affection and Knockout prefers to receive physical affection.

“No Place Like Home” by Marianas Trench

Carolina, Carolina, tell me how I’m gonna get down from here? You only ever just disappear, but I can’t let you go

This is one of MT’s better songs, in fact I’d call it their equivalent of Bohemian Rhapsody if they didn’t already have other songs more Bohemian Rhapsody-ish than “No Place Like Home”. But NPLH my fav because it has so many things I like. Starts off with Marianas Trench’s signature spine-tingling harmony, then the beat comes in at 1:14, then you’re like “what the fuck? Banjos??” and then a minute later, SICK GUITAR. Then it becomes a chain gang, factory worker drudge vibe, but the song ends on a positive note. Lends itself really well to air guitar and road trip singalongs.

Beyond the galaxies where there’s no space or time I will transform, I am reborn to rule over the skies

Admittedly this song has a looooong intro (vocals don’t kick in until 1:09) but it’s well worth the wait. The beat and backing track feel very simple, but it works, the vocals and lyrics make up for it. I am in love with the lyrics, which tell a fascinating tale of a woman with cosmic power and a rich inner life. I actually based a character on this song once. I just wish I could find a radio edit of it.

I’m not normally a fan of “vocal chopping” (where they slice up vocal syllables into an indecipherable mess) but this song is so good I don’t care. The vocals are so celestial and sublime I get goosebumps every time. When the synth comes in (at 1:37 in the video) it literally gives me chills. It’s silly but this song gives me hardcore ASMR. I can’t listen to it without getting a little bit tingly. There aren’t many lyrics but what few there are convey meaning and leave me with a wistful feeling I can’t quite put into words.

“Professional Griefers” by deadmau5 feat. Gerard Way

GOD CAN’T HEAR YOU, THEY WILL FIGHT YOU WATCH THEM BUILD A FRIEND JUST LIKE YOU!

This song makes me want to overthrow the government. The beat is sick, the lyrics are sick, the fucking guy from MCR is in it — what more could you possibly want?? This track sounds like what you’d hear if Gerard Way got uploaded into a computer and you woke that computer up in the dystopian future 300 years from now. The beat is perfectly timed for kicking cops in the head and you get to hear Gerard say shit like “SAVE ME FROM THE NEXT LIFE” and “we are the last disease”. I rate it a HELL YES out of 10 but don’t listen to it unless you want to have a bunch of angry energy afterward

It’s not always easy to find a song you can dance to and sing along to. “Wolves” is one of those. It has those choral “late 2010s summer jam” vocals but done really well and a synth line you can groove to while you howl the vocals in falsetto like you’re one of the wolves.

“Kids Again” by Artist vs. Poet

And when I, I’m feelin’ small, you get me through it all Just like we were kids, just like we were kids again

Usually when I hear songs about “when we were kids” I’m like, can’t relate! I don’t often have positive thoughts about my youth and the person I’m in love with has never been someone I knew as a kid. But this song kind of side-steps that by recalling the innocence of childhood without necessarily being about two people who actually grew up together. For personal reasons it’s very dear to me and makes me a bit emotional, but all that aside it’s just a really good duet. Kind of the sunny counterpoint to Seether & Amy Lee’s “Broken”.

“When You Were Young” by the Killers

He doesn’t look a thing like Jesus, but he talks like a gentleman Like you imagined when you were young

“When You Were Young” is another one that makes me feel a kind of weird secondhand nostalgia/regret for things I never experienced? It’s very much about lost innocence and gives me the same weird sad-happy feeling as “Shelter”, but that doesn’t stop me from being obsessed with it. Who doesn’t want to belt out “HE DOESN’T LOOK A THING LIKE JEEEEESUS” in a carful of friends?

This is just a fun song that makes me think of my friends. It’s like the band Fun had a baby with a beer commercial.

The popular animated music video aside, this is just a hella good song. Every Mystery Skulls song sounds like he came from the future to have sex with our ears. But in the case of “Ghost” it’s very sad sex or something, I don’t know. This song is so good you guys.

But he remained! He said he saw, he said he saw the light And it was magic! Fountain! Magic! Fountain!

Generally songs fall into one of three categories: banger, bop and anthem.  “Magic Fountain” manages to be all three. It’s a bizarre little song but has one of the finest bass drops I have ever heard in my whole life (3:15).

Yeah, I know it’s a cover, but (aside from the screaming part near the end) I actually like it a lot better than the original. The bands from the Punk Goes series can actually sound really good when they aren’t roaring into the mic like Cookie Monster in a monster truck commercial. This song has a great melody and a catchy chorus and I love it.

Song: If I want to feel Worse, Smother by Daughter, if I want to feel Better...The entire Shelter Live set (Madeon & Porter Robinson), or really anything by either of them.

Fic: It really depends on what kind of down I'm feeling. And I apologize cause this is gonna be a little long-winded...

If we're talking comfort/cheer me up fics...For Harringrove I honestly don't have much that I've re-read but there's this wonderful fic by my darling Nor ( @imneithernor ) which was a gift for me back during Harringrove For RAICES and I'm OBSESSED with it. It's SO FREAKING PERFECT I CANNOT GET OVER IT !! I’ve read it many, many times already and now I want to go read it again.

For non-Harringrove comfort/cheer...There's an author (velvetoscar) from the 1D fandom who wrote some really delightful Larry fic back in the day (yeah, yeah, I know, fuckin' fight me), and I re-read her work all the time when I need something familiar and comforting. She has this one that's a coffee shop AU, and I'm super picky about coffee shop AU's cause I used to be a barista, but so was she, so her depiction of it is Spot On and super nostalgic for me, There's also an author (enjoloras) in the Les Mis fandom who writes really excellent E/R fic that never fails to cheer me up. His Enjolras is always trans, and as far as I'm concerned that's just canon babey.

If we're talking "I'm feeling Bad and I need to wallow in angst", I'm most likely to go for The Thirteen Letters (Stucky), There Nestled Against His Pulse (Klance), or the Listenesie series (Remus/Sirius).

Food: Cheese has always been my comfort food, but I can't eat cheese anymore. So I don't really have a go-to these days. Maybe hot chocolate? Or English breakfast tea? Or bone broth? A warm beverage is usually a good thing to have in times of turmoil. ☕

Shelter (Ubbe x reader)

A/N: I'm in my feels today so this one is going to be all over the place

Warnings: Physical abuse. Implied sexual abuse. So. Much. Angst.

You've been warned.

The boys were out at their usual location sparring. Ivar and Hvitserk were practicing with swords. Ubbe volunteered to observe the two and give them feedback afterward, but he wasn't paying attention anymore. There was a gnawing feeling in the back of his mind that there was something very wrong with a dear friend. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. He paced back and forth aimlessly, biting a fingernail. Sigurd noticed his odd behaviour first and called him out on it.

"What's wrong with you, hm?" He questioned. He folded his arms and the other two took notice. Ubbe rolled his eyes and didn't know how to explain what he was feeling.

"I...there's nothing wrong with me. I...think someone is in trouble, however." He eyed Sigurd, concern filling his expression.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Hvitserk asked, tossing his sword to the ground. He simply shrugged his shoulders in response. A twig snapped not too far from where Ivar sat and he peered over his shoulder. He saw [Y/N] in the distance breathing heavily. She was shaking like a leaf. Her brown dress was ripped at the hem and at the shoulder as if someone tried to take off the garment by force. She took a small step forward, one of her braided pigtails were undone.

"U-Ubbe...." She spoke. With that, the girl collapsed to the forest floor. Ivar swiftly got down from the log he sat on and crawled toward her. The other three bolted for her as well. The younger brother reached out and brushed his hand up against her cheek softly.

"This was probably your bad feeling, yes?" Hvitserk quizzed. He examined her condition and clicked his tongue. There were bruises on her legs and arms.

"Who is this girl again?" Ivar needed to be reminded. He remembered that she would usually cling to them, but she was rather quiet and tried her best not to get in their way too much.

"This is the blacksmith's daughter, [Y/N]. Her mother died last year of an illness. Come, Hvitserk, grab her. I'll get Ivar. We need to take her to the healer." Ubbe lifted Ivar onto his back and Hvitserk carried the girl bridal style. The second eldest brother grimaced. That same nagging feeling was bothering him once more.

Once they arrived back to Kattegat, the healer did their job in treating [Y/N]'s wounds. She stirred in her sleep before opening her eyes. She groaned and tried to sit up quickly. Ubbe stared down at her, attempting to get her to lay down. The girl was still disoriented and mistook him for someone else.

"N-no! Get away! Papa, stay back!" She screamed. He furrowed his brows and put two and two together. Her father was beating her.

"Calm yourself, little bear. You're safe now." She recognized that voice and instantly relaxed. He brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and forced himself to smile for her sake.

"You should stay the night with me and my family. I'll bring you food from the great hall tonight. My mother wouldn't mind it."

She bit her bottom lip and rolled onto her side. She was afraid. Her father had been drinking and she knew he wouldn't like the idea of her staying with the Ragnarssons overnight.

"Don't be scared. My mother is queen, remember? We'll protect you. I'll be your shelter."

I love electronic music stuff, but electronic as in leaning towards synths and stuff, like outrun. Porter Robinson, TheFatRat, Madeon(his new album is great) come to mind. On top of that though I love just randomly finding some not crazy-well-known artists, no matter the genre; The Dear Hunter, Forgive Durden (specifically Razia’s Shadow), Starset, Pedulum, Lemon Demon, and EDEN I all love. However with this mix of genres Spotify has just gone AWOL and REFUSES to suggest any goddamn good music. So anything along those lines or anything you find personally interesting I’d totally check out.
