It was in the laughter that they found their way to the circle of tents that were undoubtedly filled with cretins they'd both rather avoid: Odile, thankfully, had been placed with the more tasteful of the two delegations. "It's a good job, we're a pretty demanding bunch, aren't we?" Although, if she did say so herself, Laurent was the most needy of them all. She missed teasing him, winding him up until he was just about to snap, and then cooling off...so she could repeat. And he was no better...where do you think she'd learned it from?
At the mention of Olivier's name, she decidedly didn't push further: she settled on agreeing. Odile had known Olivier since her arrival in London and was very much aware of his prone nature to fuck up. Her friendship with him was of no consequence, unless it was on his arse...then she might have whispered in Delphine's ear once or twice...
A friend. He was learning...all that bullshit.
"Well, if it's a break you're in need of, then you're with the right girl..." she didn't care that she had to buy her own drinks, but that hot tub? "We need to find the rich people, the ones that like us...that hot tub is calling mine name." and the second she got a line in her, the party truly would begin.
The work part, however, she wasn't impressed with. "Do we have to work, or can I buy them? I have money, I'll pay more. I don't care. I don't do manual labour."
Delphine rarely laughed and didn't smile unless it was actually genuine. People would get a smirk now and then, but when interacting with her people, she found herself letting her guard drop just a little bit.
At Odile's comment, she let out a genuine laugh and make an arm gesture. "What can I say? I know what my people need," she teased. She wanted to ask about Laurent, but wasn't sure if she should bring it up or not, especially since their phones had to be given up.
"Yes, he's free to do...whatever the hell it is that he does." She said, waving a hand in the air. "The last thing I need to deal with is living in a poor tent with a Rutherford and Olivier hovering over me. That would add extra stress on both sides but most especially mine." She admitted. "Plus, I need a break from the guy." She linked her arm with the other womans and started walking away from their poor tents. "So...any idea on the type of 'work' we're supposed to do to earn drinks around this place?"

The Phantom’s Black Swan Ch.1
Ch.2 Ch.3 Ch.4 Ch.5
The soft glow of the moon painted silver streaks across Delphine’s small attic room. A contented sigh escaped her lips as she snuggled deeper under the worn quilt. Tonight, sleep came easily, a rare and welcome guest after weeks of relentless rehearsals. The reason for her peaceful slumber danced in her mind: the Black Swan. Not just a corps member filling a space, but The Black Swan. A significant role, a chance to truly showcase the precision and power she’d honed through years of unwavering dedication. It wasn’t the coveted Odette, the ethereal white, but Odile, the seductive shadow. And Delphine, with her sharp lines and inherent intensity, knew she could embody her perfectly.
A faint smile touched her lips. The other girls, the ones who’d fluttered and fawned over the possibility of larger parts, hadn’t even noticed her quiet triumph. They were too busy vying for fleeting moments in the spotlight, while Delphine had patiently, meticulously, carved her own space. She didn’t crave the superficial adoration; the satisfaction lay in the execution, the flawless extension, the dramatic arc of a perfectly held pose. The Black Swan was her reward, a testament to her unwavering commitment.
The next morning, the usual buoyant energy of the opera house was replaced by a palpable tension, a low hum of bewildered frustration. Delphine, eager to confirm rehearsal times and costume fittings, found clusters of dancers huddled together, their faces etched with confusion and dismay. Madame Giry, her usually stoic demeanor creased with an unusual frown, moved through the chaos with clipped pronouncements.
“Cancelled. All rehearsals for Swan Lake are cancelled.”
The words hit Delphine like a physical blow. Cancelled? After weeks of grueling work, after the quiet thrill of finally being recognized with a substantial role? A cold dread seeped into her chest, eclipsing the warmth of the previous night’s contentment.
She pushed her way through the murmuring groups, her voice tight as she addressed a tearful member of the corps. “Cancelled? But… Why? What happened?”
The girl sniffled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “It’s… it’s the ghost. The opera ghost.”
Delphine frowned, a flicker of annoyance replacing her initial shock. The opera ghost. A ridiculous rumour, a fanciful tale whispered in the dimly lit corridors to spook the younger dancers. She’d always dismissed it as superstitious nonsense.
“The ghost?” she repeated, her tone laced with disbelief. “What could a silly story have to do with cancelling a major production?”
Another dancer, her face pale with a mixture of fear and indignation, chimed in. “He’s making demands! Apparently, he’s… well, he’s taken a fancy to one of the chorus girls. Christine Daaé.”
A wave of disbelief washed over Delphine. Christine? A sweet-faced girl with a voice like a fledgling bird, usually lost in the throng of the chorus? The opera ghost, this figment of their collective imagination, had taken a “fancy” to her and was now dictating the opera’s schedule? It sounded utterly absurd.
“Demands?” Delphine scoffed, her initial disappointment hardening into a simmering anger. “What kind of demands?”
The answers came in fragmented whispers: special attention for Christine, leading roles, the dismissal of anyone who displeased him. The details were hazy, fueled by rumor and fear, but the core message was clear: the opera’s artistic integrity, their hard work, their opportunities, were being held hostage by a ridiculous ghost infatuated with a chorus girl.
A knot of frustration tightened in Delphine’s stomach. She wasn’t angry at Christine. The poor girl was likely as bewildered and possibly as frightened as everyone else. She had no control over the whims of a phantom. No, Delphine’s anger was directed at this unseen entity, this ridiculous disruption that had swept away her hard-earned triumph like dust in the wind.
Days bled into a frustrating stasis. The opera house felt stagnant, the vibrant energy replaced by hushed whispers and anxious glances. Rehearsals for other productions were tentative, overshadowed by the bizarre situation surrounding Christine and the so-called ghost. Delphine found herself pacing her small room, the injustice of it all gnawing at her. The Black Swan, her Black Swan, remained a phantom limb, a role she’d tasted and now had cruelly snatched away.
The other dancers either succumbed to fearful speculation or muttered resentfully about Christine’s sudden, inexplicable favour. But Delphine’s mind worked differently. She wasn’t content to sit and stew in frustration. This “ghost,” this unseen force that held their livelihoods and artistic dreams in its spectral hand, needed to be confronted. It was ludicrous, unbelievable, yet it was impacting her life, her work, the very essence of what she strived for.
One evening, as the gas lamps flickered casting long, dancing shadows across her room, Delphine made a decision. She wouldn’t rely on rumour and fear. She wouldn’t let her hard work be negated by a childish fantasy. She would find this opera ghost. She would see for herself the source of this ridiculous disruption. She would understand the power this phantom held, and perhaps, just perhaps, she could find a way to reclaim what had been so unfairly taken away. The plume of disappointment had transformed into a spark of defiance, a quiet determination to unmask the phantom that haunted their dreams.

Time for my unsolicited barbie movie opinions!!!
• the stable boy from barbie and the three musketeers is at least 8” and could get it
• laverna was just a girlboss before her time
• the fungus were PEAK comedy
• fungus maximus and his relationship with laverna was and still is one of the most accurate depictions of women’s relationships with *most* men in the workplace in cinematic history (in mermaidia only)
• we don’t talk about magic of the rainbow
• zinzie was an addict
• the zombie peas did, in fact, make the movie better
• I’d punt makenna into the sun
• elina was absolutely in a wlw relationship with dandelion and she’s also ace
• dizzle was fucking disturbing, oversexualized and definitely created by a man
• learn your lessons SLAPS
• laverna could get it
• aiden was the worst ml ‘nuff said
• video game hero was cute
• I’d do anything under the sun or above it for barbie’s party dress in a christmas carol
• larkspur is an iconic twink (we stan)
• bertie is best girl
• queen calissa is a milf
• delphine is an iconic bimbo and could get it
• odile did nothing wrong and was honestly kinda a mood
• multiple barbie movies had near death scenes, canon murderers, and attempted terrorism/mass murders and that’s honestly very iconic of them
feel free to add your own uwu 💅✨
#i mean she did try to commit indirect mass genocide in the second movie but still#barbie#hot takes#unsolicited opinions#barbie movies

Conversation
@Lisette. [text]
Aurélie: You're the sweetest. That post. 🥺
Aurélie: We arrived in Paris this morning ready for the celebrations tomorrow. Fancy coming and joining us?
Aurélie: You can bring Théo. I'd love to see him. Just keep him out of Oliver's way, for the sake of everyone involved. You know how he is...
Aurélie: Laurent and Odile are coming! Varden and Delphine too, I think. Have to double check.
Aurélie: It'll be fun. 💛💛

If you were in charge of choosing what merchandise they'd make for Barbie, what dolls/playsets/accessories/etc. would you have made?
I’m going to talk mostly about movie merch I wish they would have made, bc if it’s just any Barbie merchandise at all, that’s just... way too expansive.
Nutcracker: Accurate Major Mint, accurate Captain Candy
Rapunzel: Gothel
Swan Lake: Odile
Princess and the Pauper:
Fairytopia & Mariposa series: Accurate Hue, Laverna, Nalu, Linden, Faban, the final form Elina was supposed to get at the end of MotR, Henna, King Regellius, Gwyllion
Magic of Pegasus: Annika’s skating outfit, Wenlock’s wives
Barbie Diaries: Kevin, Todd
12 Dancing Princesses: Rowena, King Randolph
Island Princess: Accurate Luciana
Diamond Castle: Lydia
Christmas Carol: Freddy, Ann, Nan
Thumbelina: Makena, Evan, Vanessa
Three Musketeers: Corinne’s first outfit, better final musketeer outfits
Mermaid Tale 1 & 2: Calissa, Eris, Break
Fashion Fairytale: Millicent, Jacqueline, Delphine
Fairy Secret: Zane, Crystal, Lilliana Roxelle
Princess Charm School: Isla, Emily Willows, Miss Willows
Perfect Christmas: Christie Clauson
Princess and the Popstar: Trevi, Meredith, Aunt Amelia, Crider
Pink Shoes: Hailey, Albrecht, Hilarion, Snow Queen, Berthe, Queen Vera
Pony Tale: Jonas, Etienne, Marlene
Pearl Princess: Fergis, Caligo
Secret Door: Alexa’s yellow dress, accurate Malucia, King of Zinnia, Queen of Zinnia, Alexa’s wand
Princess Power: Casual Makayla, casual Madison, casual Kara
Barbie in Rock ‘N Royals: Genevieve, Aubray, Marcus, Olivia, Sloane, Finn, Anne, Stevie, Clive, Allegra James, Svetlana Petranova
Great Puppy Adventure: Grandma Roberts
Spy Squad: Miss Z, casual Patricia, Agent Dunbar
Star Light Adventure: King Constantine, Starlian plush, the squad in their matching mission outfits which would include Sal-Lee’s natural hair, Starlight’s casual outfit
Puppy Chase: Lindsay, Marco, Vivian
Video Game Hero: I’d give Crystal an anime form and I’d want that doll, since she’s the only one who doesn’t change form correctly
Dolphin Magic: Marlo
Princess Adventure: Johan, Alfonso
Dreamhouse Adventures: Trey, Tammy, George, Margaret, Poppy, Whittaker, Morton Rise, Aunt Adele
I’m sure I forgot a bunch but basically, any look I like that we didn’t get a doll of, most villains, and some of the parents. Since they want you to be able to play out the movie, they should actually give kids the dolls to do that.

Odile laughed, rough, unapologetically loud, so freeing from those clouds that'd been so close to her, all day. Jean, thankfully, had the ability to allow her to let loose: freeing was the word. It felt good, great, even, like releasing a rusty-fucking-valve. Taking the note, however, with a playful snatch -- she simply rolled her eyes at Jean. “I’d rather give you my kidney than give this back to you,” teasing, a flutter of lashes, and a well-timed bite to her lip. It took her no time to snort the line, the effects almost immediate.
Except back the post-sniff-drip, which she washed down with way too much wine in one swig, and regretted it not twenty seconds later. Still, she slipped it back into his hand with that all-too-familiar practiced dexterity. “If only because I know you’ll never let me hear the end of it.”
“Curious, weird as fuck, not gay. What a combination. And you two are friends?” Odile knew Olivier, but not extremely well expect for their short passing's with Delphine. They spoke, sure, but not enough that she'd know such details about his personal life “Genevieve? His baby momma? Oh, I heard about that mess." a snort, short, sweet. "Well, I won't be giving him my friend Chad's number, shame, they would've looked so good together." a dramatic hand laying over her chest.
"I do my best." Almost ahead of her request, Jean was holding out a crisp note towards Odile, smirk still spread across his lips. "I'm expecting that back, just so you know." What a luxury to not worry about having a roof over his head or where his next meal was coming from. Still, old habits died hard.
"I've spent way too long watching Olivier mope over Lisette and then Genevieve. I have never once in my life thought he was gay. Curious? Yes. Weird as fuck? Also yes. But definitely not gay."

The Phantom’s Black Swan Ch.4
Ch.1 Ch.2 Ch.3 Ch.5
The air in the hidden chamber felt thick with unspoken tension as Delphine turned to leave. The Phantom remained hunched over the organ, his masked form a silent sentinel in the dim light. She didn't offer a parting word; their argument had reached a stalemate, a chasm of differing perspectives that seemed impossible to bridge.
As she retraced her steps down the winding staircase, the initial surge of adrenaline began to fade, replaced by a weary resolve. She had faced the myth, the terrifying legend that had held the opera house in its grip, and found a man – a disturbed and manipulative man, but a man nonetheless. The power he wielded wasn't supernatural; it was born of fear, secrecy, and perhaps the complicity of those who believed the rumors.
Emerging from the hidden passage behind Box Five, Delphine felt the familiar opulence of the opera house press in on her. The hushed anxieties of the other dancers seemed less daunting now, somehow less… spectral. The "ghost" had been unmasked, at least to her. He was just a man, and that struck her as so particularly ordinary.
Back in her small attic room, the moonlight seemed less romantic, more stark. Washing over the white of her pillowcases and dying it a silver. But it was just light. Sleep didn't come easily. Her fingers knotted the pillow and the case into an uncomfortable lump and she had to squeeze her eyes shut. The Phantom's words, his bitterness, his strange conviction, echoed in her mind. "You lack the fire." The sting of that pronouncement lingered, a fresh wound added to the ache of what had been just within her reach. She’d worked hard, she’d always made an effort to work hard, despite all the uncertainty and the favoritism that seemed to prevail. It hurt, each and every time she got turned down or overlooked for a role, and this was finally it for her. Odile was supposed to be the reward for all that pain, the justification that made everything else not look as dim.
But amidst the lingering resentment, a new resolve began to solidify within her. She wouldn't let his dismissive words define her. She wouldn't let his petty manipulations extinguish her passion. The Black Swan might be lost for now, but her dedication, her years of relentless training, remained. The fire within her might not burn with the same volatile intensity the Phantom claimed to see in Christine, but it was a steady, unwavering flame, fueled by her own determination and love for her art. There would be other roles, other ballets for her to have the opportunity. Mourning the loss of something so easily taken wasn’t worth the time that could be spent practicing and perfecting for the next role, the next ballet.
The next morning, the cancellation of Swan Lake was officially announced, the management citing "unforeseen circumstances." A wave of disappointment washed through the company, but beneath it, Delphine sensed a subtle shift. The fear of the unseen "ghost" seemed to have lost some of its potency, perhaps a subconscious reflection of her own defiance. She’d seen what he was, and it was more pathetic and sad than anything.
Delphine returned to her routine with a renewed focus. While others moped or whispered anxieties, she sought out the empty rehearsal rooms, her worn ballet slippers whispering against the wooden floor. She ran through her exercises, the familiar movements a comforting anchor in the swirling uncertainty. She practiced the Black Swan pas de deux, every extension, every dramatic flourish, as if the premiere was still weeks away. She wouldn't let the Phantom's whims steal her progress. She would be ready for the next opportunity, whenever and wherever it might arise.
Unbeknownst to Delphine, her encounter in the hidden chamber had left a deeper impression on the Phantom than she realized. As he sat in the darkness, hunched over his organ. The echo of her defiant words reverberated through his solitude. "You are not a ghost. You are just a man."
He had expected fear, perhaps pleading. Something that he had grown used to, being called a monster, a demon, or a ghost. He had encountered a spark of unexpected courage, a refusal to be intimidated. Her accusation, stark and simple, had landed with an uncomfortable truth. He was just a man, albeit a disfigured and isolated one, wielding power through deception and fear.
He had always justified his actions as a necessity, a means to an end. His years of isolation had hardened him, his artistic vision growing twisted and perverse. But beneath the layers of bitterness and resentment, a spark of humanity still smoldered.
Delphine's defiance, her refusal to be silenced, had sparked something. A faint flicker, perhaps, like sparks being coaxed from a dying piece of coal. He had always thought of himself as the teacher, the guide, the one who understood the complexities of the art they all purported to pursue. Christine had always been intended to be his zenith, his star, and the angel that could look beyond his monstrosity and see him for who he really was. How could it be that this dancer, who was temperamental, held grudges, and dared to argue with him, saw him as human?
But her passion for her art, her quiet determination in the face of his pronouncements, had also struck a chord, a discordant note in the symphony of his bitterness. He had dismissed her as lacking "fire," yet the steady flame of her dedication was undeniable. It was a different kind of fire than the shining brilliance he saw in Christine, but it was persistent, resilient.
As he watched her from his hidden vantage points in the opera house in the days that followed, he saw her continuous quiet dedication, her solitary practice. He saw the unwavering focus in her eyes, the determination etched on her face. The sparks grew into a small flame, fanned by his unintentional notice—not admiration, perhaps, but a grudging respect, a flicker of recognition for a spirit that refused to be extinguished.
He had sought to control through fear, to elevate through manipulation. But in Delphine Laurent, he had encountered something he hadn't anticipated: a quiet strength that might just prove more formidable than any phantom. The cancellation of Swan Lake might have been his decree, but this little dancers unwavering dedication was a silent rebellion, an echo that lingered in the darkness, a testament to the power of a dancer who refused to let her dreams be silenced by a ghost. And that was something he wasn’t sure he’d ever encountered, someone who saw him.

names i like and why:
*note: i also love the idea of all my daughters having flower middle names because i read it in a book once. the mother refered to the girls as her "beautiful garden" and i love it. some of the names don't have flowers yet bc i haven't found any i particularly like for them
charlotte marigold; this name came to me in a dream when i was younger, and i knew it would be the name i'd use for my first daughter. it means 'free' and i love that. i also just feel like its really underappreciated. I heard the name marigold on downton abbey and thought it was a really underappreciated flower and underappreciated flower name
honey; the weirdest name i like and the one reserved for my last daughter. not sure why, but i already know it fits her. i want to play her this song when she's little. it was one of my favorite songs when i was younger and always comforted me. i also love mamma mia, so it's just a great name all around lol
summer nisreen; i like names that remind me of the color yellow, and summer does that. i don't know that'd i'd name my daughter this but i still really like it and wouldn't mind having a daughter named summer
theodora; one of my favorite old lady names and is one i definitely plan on using. means "gift" i like it because of a book i read called the oracles of delphi keep. the girl in the books name was theodosia but i like theodora more. i also love the nickname "theo."
mahiya; i just think this name is gorgeous (ma-high-uh). it means "happiness"
beatrice-rose; specifically because my sister told me she hated it. if i had a daughter with this name, id call her bette rose and play this song for her.
coppelia lavender or jasmine; not one i actually think i'd use but i love the idea because its my favorite ballet
odessa violet; this is one of my favorite ballet names that isn't really a ballet name lol i just don't really like odette or odile, but i think odessa is very pretty
ismene; big fan of greek tragedies and while im not a fan of the name antigone, i do love her sister's name
clementine; very pretty and would absolutely consider using. i honestly may or may not ever show her the folk song lol it's depressing but would be funny to show her regardless
ophelia; it's pretty and i love it but i feel like by the time i have kids it'll be way more common; but if i did use it, obviously i'd show her this song.
cosima; favorite character on orphan black and also just a really rare and pretty name
santa maria; would not use this name but i still really like it. on mixed-ish, there was a little girl named santa monica. i didn't like the name monica but im a big fan of the name, so i decided on santa maria. the nickname santi is so cute to me and it's a really pretty and unique name. this would be her patron song. it's not the same name by any means but i can see a small child thinking it's saying their name lol it's also a cool song to be associated with even if it's not kid friendly in any way LOL.
reliance; i follow a family on ig that has a daughter with this name. it's one of my favorite virtue names. her nickname would be rye. not sure id use it but i wouldn't be against it as a middle name
other honorable mentions:
nisreen (arabic word for rose), violetta, courtney, adeline, juliana, india, zendaya (not after the actress, i follow a family on ig that uses this name and they made me like it even more), isla, matilda (tilly is an adorable nickname), freya, sabre (means sword), callaway, delphine, natalina, charm, cinnamon (i love it but id have to choose between a cinnamon, honey, and clementine. i don't want a food theme), guiseppina (jessie lol the name of the ballerina who played swanhilda (who spends a portion of coppelia pretending to be her) in coppelia).
flower names i've considered: *bluebell (i go back and forth between liking it), *tigerlily (go back and forth), *hyacinth (it's very jarring and i love it but haven't chosen a good first name to go with it), *saige (spelled like that bc of the american girl doll), *magnolia (im southern lol come on, what do you expect?), *verbena (lemon verbena is my favorite scent), *lily (never not met a lovable lily), *primrose (i do and don't like it lol it just doesn't sound right but i still consider it a contender), *lotus (met a little girl named lily who had an older sister named lotus that i didn't get to meet. i thought it was the sweetest flower name and very unusual.), *poppy, *dahlia (i only ever think of the girl who was murdered in hollywood that people call the Black Dahlia and it kinda puts a damper on the name for me lol), *armeria (pretty bright pink flowers that grow near the ground, lesser used flower name but still a gorgeous one).
still thinking of boy names lol

I made a name list!
Okay, so, apparently it’s a bit of a trend now to share name lists in this community. I have a name list of my own that’s been getting longer and longer. I’m deciding to share it, because I love going over other people’s lists myself and I have found many cool names that way!
My list is very long, like, very long, so you can find it under the cut. I also put it on a page on my blog here ( you can find a link on my homepage as well) and in a pdf file here. There, the names also have colours to indicate whether they’re male, female or unisex names. That page will probably be updated as I find more names I like. Anyway, enjoy?
