The A’s Were Asking St. Louis For a Haul For Sean Murphy
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that the A’s were asking for an absolute haul from the Cardinals in exchange for Sean Murphy. “The Athletics sought a return of outfielder Lars Nootbaar, Gold Glove-winner Brendan Donovan, and a power young pitcher like Gordon Graceffo in exchange for Murphy and three years of control, according to a source with knowledge of the…

As Arenado cleans up and rookies seize spots, Cardinals’ ‘best lineup’ takes shape | St. Louis Cardinals
As Arenado cleans up and rookies seize spots, Cardinals’ ‘best lineup’ takes shape | St. Louis Cardinals
BOSTON — There are many methods a manager will use to write a lineup, from mining data for the right matchups to placing hitters for protection to pulling names out of a hat, as Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol joked this weekend he might do. (He didn’t.) The best remains when performance guides the pen, and a lineup reveals itself. That’s what led to Tommy Edman returning to leadoff this…

Climbing the walls: After exploring new dimensions for Busch to boost the attack, the Cardinals stuck to the 'golden' rule | Cardinals of St. Louis
Climbing the walls: After exploring new dimensions for Busch to boost the attack, the Cardinals stuck to the ‘golden’ rule | Cardinals of St. Louis
A funny thing happened shortly after the Cardinals halted finalizing a report they had commissioned and decided to take a step back from moving the Busch Stadium walls. They have a golden reason (or five) to reconsider. “As we get closer to releasing the report, we earn five gold gloves,” said team president Bill DeWitt III. “We started thinking we might have an advantage here with this…

Pujols Makes History.
Tumblr media
9:03pm August 31, 2022
Albert Pujols has yet again rewritten history after his 15th Homerun of the season Monday against the Cincinnati Reds.
Pujols has been chasing history this season with becoming only the third baseball player to enter the 700 club (Homeruns). However, on his way to that historic achievement he accomplished another record.
"Reds lefty Ross Detwiler, a freshman at Wentzville Holt High when Pujols made his major-league debut, delivered an 0-2 fastball to Pujols in the third inning Monday night at Great American Ball Park. Pujols connected on the 92.8 mph pitch and lofted it toward right field and into the seats" (Goold par3).
This would set the record for most homeruns off different pitchers as the 450th pitcher Pujols has touched them all on breaking Barry Bonds previous record.
Goold, Derrick. “Albert Pujols Breaks Barry Bonds' MLB Record with Homer off St. Louis Native Ross Detwiler.” STLtoday.com, St. Louis Post Dispatch, 30 Aug. 2022, www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/birdland/albert-pujols-breaks-barry-bonds-mlb-record-with-homer-off-st-louis-native-ross-detwiler/article_8f2d1e0f-1fd1-563b-a0cc-95d84a80e830.html.

I did!!!! I’m so happy for him and his wife, hope everyone’s healthy ☺️ but it is absolutely hilarious that the cards have have three babies born in a week. everyone had some fun before spring training, apparently.
Ricky’s little girl was born back in June, but yeah Jake’s baby last week, and (not that he played any games with us lol) I believe beaulieu’s wife is due soon as well

Homecoming Kings: After loud red-coated pump, Wainwright and O'Neill lead Cardinals fight 9-0 | Cardinals of St. Louis
Homecoming Kings: After loud red-coated pump, Wainwright and O’Neill lead Cardinals fight 9-0 | Cardinals of St. Louis
Noise, not nerves, awoke Oliver Marmol at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, hours before he wrote his first lineup and made his first walk to home plate to deliver it ahead of his first game as manager of the major leagues. The noise came from the window of the bedroom of his residence in Saint-Louis and when he opened the blinds, this mystery to be explored, he found the culprit tapping, tapping. Marmol…

Jack Flaherty, Alex Reyes Won't Be Ready For Opening Day
Jack Flaherty, Alex Reyes Won’t Be Ready For Opening Day
Cardinal starters Jack Flaherty received a platelet-rich plasma injection to address a small tear in his right shoulder, the team informed reporters (including Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch). He’ll be shut down from throwing for two weeks, at which point the team will reevaluate his status. Flaherty obviously won’t have time to build up arm strength in time for Opening Day, and…

Coaching Notes: Cardinals, Pirates, Diamondbacks
Cardinals manager Mike Shildt won the Manager of the Year award in his first full season at the helm, and he’s taken the club to three consecutive postseason appearances, including a division title in 2019. He’s under contract for just one more season, though St. Louis is likely to explore a contract extension for their skipper, per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. President of…
