i never saw anybody post about deux face's passing. did we all get too caught up in the "keeping deux face alive would be animal cruelty!" "wanting deux face put down is ableist!" discourse to appreciate her on her own merit. she lived for 26 days! an amazingly long time for a dicephalous mammal! and like idk i dont have a conclusion here. i'm not a biologist or anythin. its just. shrug

You're such a firecracker
That they run when you're lit-
Labeled a criminal
By your attacker
And the mind-bending hit
Then it gets subliminal
Wire up the lie detector
Sound the alarm for me;
These cats are crooked detectives
Trying to make a score for free
Oh, oh!
You've got everybody else fooled
But we know who you are
You've got everybody else
Outraged! (At who you are)
Outraged!
Such a good faker
With a smile on your head
But that ain't convincing me
(That ain't convincing me!)
The movers and the shakers
Wanna climb in his bed
To create history

Polycephaly is rare but not unheard of - though rarely do those inflicted with it live to adulthood.
First example is actually one of Diprosopus (Duplicated Facial Features) in a recent investigation of an abandoned Barioth nest, the cub had been seemingly stillborn, having not been cleaned by the mother or tended to in the slightest. Further dissection revealed a split trachea and underdeveloped lungs. I doubt had the cub lived it would have lasted longer than a day.
My second example however is less depressing - an adult Najarala with Dicephalic parapagus, two heads separately functional from the other. Though one would think having each head control different parts of the body would be a detriment to the creature it appears that this has had little to no effect on this magnificent specimen. We did not see it fit to hunt such an anomaly and have decided to study it as it’s not a threat and is thriving in it’s environment. Observation shows that though there are sometimes small bites and screeching between the two heads; the autonomy of each head allows for the Najarala to rest with essentially “one eye open”, spot prey at an accelerated rate, and attack with increased ferocity with being able to get extra bites in.
This Najarala has also been successful in mating, so there is an increased chance of this trait becoming more prolific in the area: but to what degree it will be successful is neither here nor there.
Either way: a fascinating find.
