Ukrainian fighter pilots are secretly training in France to fly the Mirage 2000

The French newspaper Le Figaro reported last week that a group of about thirty Ukrainian pilots has been in "secret" flight training at Mont-de-Marsan and Nancy air bases since February to fly the Mirage 2000 fighter.

The green light to continue the training was given on the eve of the visit of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to Paris in February.

Since the beginning of the war, France has often been criticized by its European allies for the ambiguity of its policy with Russia. However, it was several times at the forefront of military aid to Ukraine, supplying it first with Caesar cannons and then with AMX tanks. At his last hearing in the National Assembly, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, reaffirmed that the delivery of the Mirage 2000C to Ukraine was not a "political bunker": "why exclude one weapon more than another because that's what the plane did what is defensive or offensive," he said... but that was not the priority at the time, the Ukrainian forces mainly needed

In addition, Lecornu said that the issue of the Mirage 2000C raises an issue of “technical and operational feasibility” since it would take “several months of training” for both pilots and mechanics, for the Ukrainian Air Force to implement them. And this is not counting the maintenance in operational conditions that has "a formidable complexity", and the need to have adequate infrastructure.

However, in its March 23 edition, the daily Le Figaro states that, for a month and a half, Ukrainian aviators - about thirty - have been in "accelerated" training in Mont-de-Marsan and Nancy to learn how to fly the Mirage 2000. "France wants to keep all the possibilities. If one day the political decision is made, the pilots will have to be trained."

Since last summer, Nancy-Ochey [BA] 133 air base has housed Mirage 2000B [two seats] aircraft, used by the 2/3 Champagne Fighter Squadron for the training of Mirage 2000D and Mirage 2000-5 pilots. In addition, the presence of a Ukrainian pilot in Lorraine would therefore not be surprising. At least if what Le Figaro claims is correct. On the other hand, it is difficult to see what the BA 118 of Mont-de-Marsan is doing in this case, even if, in the past, it has received foreign pilots who came to France to learn how to fly the Rafale.

In any case, on March 23, the Ministry of the Armed Forces confirmed the presence of Ukrainian aviators in France. But not his training in Mirage 2000.

"We are training Ukrainian crews in France, particularly in land-to-air defense and survival in the event that their aircraft is shot down," said General Yann Gravethe, interim director of the Information Communication and Defense Delegation [DICoD], during the weekly press conference of the Ministry of the Armed Forces. "We do not train Ukrainian pilots, neither in piloting nor in the use of weapons systems," he insisted.

The modernized versions of the UAE's Mirage 2000 will probably fly until the 2030s.

As a reminder, France delivered to Ukraine two Crotale NG short-range air defense systems, taken from the Air and Space Force inventory. And it is preparing to provide a Medium-Range Land system [SAMP/T or Mamba] in the context of cooperation with Italy, where, by the way, Ukrainian operators are in training. Finally, Ukrainian forces also received MISTRAL anti-aircraft missiles.

As for the survival course mentioned by General Gravêthe, it belongs to the "Survival and Rescue Training Center" [CFSS], established at BA 120 in Cazaux. After a theoretical part, it ends with a "practical" phase of forty-eight hours.

“After a second night spent on the ground, [the trainees] will be collected by a land recovery group to be exfiltrated, by air or land. The scenario will then take a new direction, [they] will be captured. In the hands of the enemy, they will face a period of interrogation. This phase [of them] allows them to prepare for the psychological burden they could bear in case of capture in combat".

In another leaked report, the Mirage 2000 fighters that Paris intends to donate to Kyviv will come from the United Arab Emirates. The Mirage 2000-9 fleet of the United Arab Emirates is configured for ground attack tasks, being equipped with the Shehab laser sight pod and the Nahar navigation pod.

The United Arab Emirates will replace its fleet of Dassault Mirage 2000-9 when it receives at the end of this decade the 80 new state-of-the-art Dassault Rafale F4s it ordered from France last year.

The Mirages of the United Arab Emirates have long been much more advanced than the basic versions of this jet, such as the originals first acquired in the 1980s. Abu Dhabi currently has at least 56 of these Mirages.

Dengan adanya teknologi seperti sekarang ini siapapun dapat jadi apapun selagi ia mau dan berusaha kreatif karna pada dasarnya pemikiran perempuan itu lebih unggul dari pada laki-laki maka tanpa adanya pemikiran perempuan yang kreatif tak ada era maju dan berkembang seperti sekrang ini sama juga halnya di sebuah film drama "Start-Up".
