i am not going to describe this perfectly but you know what would be a cool sim game? is one where you get to build an earth-like planet—like you start with a blank orb of just salt water, and you get to shape and place the continents and oceans (and freshwater) how ever you want, you get to create mountains and deserts and stuff (but the game knows what’s realistic and not so it tells you stuff like “it’s unlikely to have tundre that close to a tropical rainforest” but you can ignore those if you want) and then that generates an atmosphere—and THEn. then you run the weather simulator. which is the best part. because then goal becomes trying to (eg) build the version of the earth with the most tornados, or the gnarliest hurricanes, or the deepest snowfalls, etc. and you get to watch the sim play it all out at high speed.

#and you get to watch the effect of the weather on the terrain tooo #ideally you’d be able to go look around the locations you create too #right now i’m worldbuilding and #i’m running up against a lot of questions like. well how DOES the geography affect the weather #like if there’s a big mountain range to the west of some plains….whats the weather going to be like??#idk i find it fascinating i don’t know how to learn abt it tho #so i wish someone did all the science and research for me and made a game like this #are there humans in the game i wonder? i think thats too complex #i’m not even sure if animals would be too complex … hell plants even are difficult

Today we learned not to trust ice bridges.

#he was looking at it before i came over so i figured he had it under control #nope #just fucken trotted right onto it #i rarely help him or intervene when we come upon new terrain #he always recovers well when he messes up and he learns best on his own in situations like these #the only thing i help him with are big steep drops #he knows to wait for me to grab the back of his harness to break his fall before he jumps off #but aside from from that i always just let him figure things out on his own #and because of that he's become a very clever and confident hiker even in difficult terrain #i just unclip him from my belt and let him use his brain unimpeded #and usually he handles himself really well

#no man's sky #no mans sky #NMS #nms photography #sort of difficult to love an art borne of so much pain. there's a lot of joy and a lot of spite in this game and #the combination of the two is sort of hypnotizing #the terrain generation seems to me to be both joyful and mournful #you always seem to arrive just after an enormous disaster. but by gods it is beautiful sometimes

Oct 3: The River’s Treasure

The center of this small chamber is heaped haphazardly with 10000 GP worth of gold and gems, teleported here from [AREA]. The guardian there will attack any creature who tries to re-tribute treasure from this area, seeing them as a thief. This treasure is damp and can never be dried. Such coins very occasionally turn up on the surface, and most everyone who frequents the Whistling Isle consider them to be cursed--an Intelligence (History) check reveals as much, though the nature of the curse is unclear (because there isn't one). The cave sirens are not aware of this chamber’s existence.

i love playing thru the levels looking for explore medals because i notice SO MUCH about the level i just breezed by fully. whole areas i didnt even know existed and tiny environmental stuff that gives me pause

i put down yesterday how nyuuris' domain somewhat overlaps into danny's kingdom, vorrilio, along a mountain range and now im just like, hehe what if castle / territory quite literally built into the mountains though-

like its VERY harsh lines, very structured, nothing all that like. decorative, pretty exactly but like. natural waterfalls from the mountains peeking through?? the castle going through from one end of the mountains through to the other side and there being the coast and ports?? accessible for a certain faerie princess' ship to dock at someday- (:

People calling men that are barely below average height "short kings" are WEAK and will not survive the winter much less any season... instead start calling men under 5 foot short kings or die by my blade!!!!!
