"Every great magician needs a hat" -Archmagusmon

From the finale of Digidestiny, Archmagusmon gave Gary Pasternak a copy of Magimon's hat. And from there, I knew I needed to draw Gary not only in the hat, but with an updated outfit to match it. So here he is! Design process: Keeping in line with Gary's Magician outfit he gets mid game, I wanted to keep the idea of a vest + dress shirt/dress pants the same, but changed the vest colors and shape a bit to compliment the hat and new additions of the outfit. I gave him red velvet gloves in place of his grey magnetic gloves he wore in the digital world to further tie into the red accenting of the outfit. I kept his hair fluffy/curly cause it compliments the hat better than the slicked back hair, and it matches how Magimon looks when he wears the hat. Then finally, I added a cape mainly just cause I'm a sucker for capes and thought it'd look good, but also realized that Magimon's whole line pretty much has capes, so it further ties into that.

A lot of the design choices were both for outfit synergy as well as being representative of Gary's growth and his bond with Magimon across the campaign. That's what the hat is a symbol of after all.

I had fun with this one and am super happy with how it turned out!

Digimon Fusion – Digivice differences

I think it would be so cool if Digimon Fusion made every kid have their own special Digivice – i have yet to see every Digimon season, so i have no idea if what i’m saying makes sense, but! Hear about this idea!

I think we can all agree that every kid from Fusion should had their own device (Talking about Angie and Jeremy specifically). But, one thing i wanted to see since forever in Digimon was every digidestined having their own unique way of fighting with their Digimon!

Or putting it in a better way, the digivice has a unique feature to each Digidestined.

Like for example – Mikey has the power to Digixros his Digimon (Just like in the anime, duh); Jeremy has the power to turn certain Digimon into weaponry and armor and Angie to digivolve any Digimon.

Now, imagine how this would affect their battles and their relationship with their Digimon partner if we put some rules for how each device work!

Mikey Fusion loader can only fuse Digimon that have a strong relationship with each other. He would be able to DigiFuse Ballistamon and Shoutmon right away, after all, they are best buddies! The same cannot be said if Mikey tried to fuse Shoutmon, Ballistamon and Dorulumon.

The more Digimon to the mix, the more difficult it is to access this power. This could help making some fusions more memorable! As it’s not only the Digimon thrusting Mikey, but also the other Digimon! Forcing the story to work around the characters dynamic! (And interesting conflicts – for example, sometimes Shoutmon trusts an Digimon while the others don’t; there could internal fights, and until they fix that problem, they can't digifuse) It would make it more clearly the differences between forced digifusion and normal digifusion too! (And it would make Final Xros even more epic, like, it’s literally every Digimon trusting the Fusion Fighters and their own capacity to fight with them for this battle to save both worlds from Bagra) And to finish here, a limiter for how many Digimon he can fuse would be nice too. At the start, he could only fuse 3 Digimon together, then 7, then, at the end, with help of an external force, (maybe the power of the Code Crown?), every Digimon could join the team! But starting small is nice because apparently in the series Mikey doesn’t have a limit for how he can use his fusion loader and that bothered me So much…

Meanwhile, Jeremy’s digivice could work like this – he transforms his Digimon into his weapon and armor, gaining their power and abilities! (Like what happens in Digimon Frontier, kinda of? But he can talk to his Digimon partners since the start? And they’re normal Digimon until his digivice transforms them into weapons.) It’s more than just having the weapon and the armor though, it’s about having his Digimon power and spirit. Hold the weapon means holding the fighting spirit of his partner, and wear his partner’s armor means to thrust that his Digimon will be able to protect him. It gives them the power to both to fight as one. To thrust each other. The stronger Jeremy’s spirit is, the more he’s gonna be able to handle powerful Digimon. Like, at the start he could only use Spadamon as his partner, he couldn’t even dream to have Ballistamon as his armor until he evolved from inside (it will take a while until Jeremy is able to use his main partner, Ballistamon, into the battles with him, lol)

And for Angie, i was thinking her digivice works like the original/adventure digivice, she’s the only one capable of digivolving their Digimon and that will stay like this until the end.

She has the most powerful digivice at her hands, But, it’s not an easy task to digivolve a Digimon.

If it was, she wouldn’t be the last digidestiny to discover what her digivice can do (because the Digimon needs to have some requirements to digivolve and a strong bound with her. So even if, for example, Shoutmon was strong enough, she wouldn’t be able to activate her device, because they weren’t close enough) (So she needs to have strong connections with every Digimon in the team, so then they can increase their power. Something like that) (I need to think something better. I don’t know if this sounds boring…. I mean, digivolution is the main aspect of every Digimon series, and she being the key for that power is important! Because even Jeremy’s spirit became strong, his Digimon wouldn’t become any stronger with him; and Digixros can only take you so far – she’s like the light in the darkest hour).

(Now working in progress ideia –

For Christopher i have no clue yet how his digivice could work, but i have this idea for Nene, maybe I’ll change it later, but here it’s: I was thinking that Nene, at first glance, looked like she had this infinity amount of Digimon at her command, always appearing with a new Digimon in every battle – but that’s because her digivice can create new Digimon. Depending of how much data she collects of a certain Digimon, she will be able to create a new one! The thing is… they’re normally born as cannon folder. They’re not that strong, so it’s not uncommon to see her sacrificing them. So every time the Fusion Fighters seen her with a new Digimon and don’t see them again, that Digimon was killed (I was inspired by Dusk/Dawn games, where you can collect the data of the same Digimon until you can actually have that Digimon. Of course, with a dark twist.

Sparrowmon was born the same way, but because she was her first Digimon, Nene has a soft spot for her) (maybe Darkknightmon is the one influencing her to do this? After all, she will do anything for her siblings, even doing horrible things to please the devil himself).

And That’s it! I may change things in the future, but i’m kinda glad how it’s going now.
