My interview with artist and marketing executive for the four seasons Angela Costa. I was introduced to Angela by Ali Shehabi. I have known them for the same amount of time, Angela is also someone I love to talk about art with and admire. Here are 7 questions I asked Angela costa.
Why do you make art?
 “I make art because it comforts me, and I use as a way of therapy it reminds me of my and home also and that comforts me.”
How does where from affect your art?
“I would say where I am from is the main source of inspiration for my most of the art I make. when I am making art, it reminds me of simpler times of being a child in the Philippines.”
Which medium do you like the most?
“I used to like writing the most, but I find too difficult sometimes, I would like to focus on filmography more now I feel I could be great at it.”
How have you dealt with self-doubt as an artist or just in your day-to-day life, do experience a lot of self-doubt?
” I doubt everything I am always second guessing myself I try not to overthink to much counteract the feeling of self-doubt and it has helped me.”
Do you look at other artists or take inspiration from them?
“not really well it depends for my drawing I have my own style and I don’t look at others art but for photography and filmography I love to feed my brain with images and movies that I enjoy one of my favourite directors is Wes Anderson and I feel like take a lot of inspiration from him I love his symmetry and his colours both are elements I hope manifest themselves in my art”
What is your dream job?
“I would love to make a digital agency, a place where I can monetize my creativity and others creativity with videos and photos of our clients. Corporate work does not excite me I would like to avoid it.”
What is your favourite piece of art that you have made?
“This is my ancestral house we had this statue of the goddess of health because it used to be an old hospital I believe it was one of the first hospitals in the region , I think of this piece because of what it means to me and what it reminds me of I know it’s not my best piece of art from a technical stand point but I love the composition and what it reminds me of.”
When did you move here?
“Well, I was visiting Bahrain because my mom lived here it was my last year in university, I thought to myself why not apply for a part time job the next thing I know I am working as an assistant executive in a marketing agency. that was in 2016.”
How do you want your work to affect others?
“I want people to feel something anything even if it was not the intended emotion put into the artwork. the biggest complement I can get is “your work reminded me of something or somewhere someone I love””.
